Chapter 2221: Chapter 2230: The Caretaker I Found for You
Enna Clark suddenly found herself lifted in mid-air and was already brought to the living room.
"President Lawrence, Young Madam." Joanne Harrison astutely greeted them and then helped pull out a chair at the dining table, making it easier for Baron Lawrence to place Enna Clark down.
Baron Lawrence conveniently placed Enna Clark on the chair, dragged over a cushion from the sofa, and propped it behind her waist, saying naturally, "Your waist is sore, using a cushion will feel a bit better."
Enna’s face was burning like fire, she wished she could strangle him with a glare.
Did he even know the word shame?
"Young Madam, shall I serve you porridge now?" Joanne softly inquired beside her.
Enna then noticed that this hotel staff seemed a bit different from others, and gave a questioning look to the man beside her.
Without her saying anything, Baron Lawrence understood her meaning, pulled up a chair to sit beside her, and said casually, "I found someone to look after you."
"...I don’t need someone to look after me."
As soon as she finished speaking, she was immediately glared at with his displeased eyes, as if squeezing out a low, deep voice, "Do you think you’re Superman wearing underwear outside, not needing anyone’s care? Don’t forget, the day before yesterday you had an incident in the elevator! Having someone look after you means at least you are not alone when danger comes."
Though he vowed he wouldn’t let her encounter danger again!
Baron Lawrence handed her the water cup, pushed it in front of her, and said decisively, "At least let her take care of you these few days until you’ve recovered, and if you find her unsatisfactory later, you can return to Country W and switch to another person."
Enna couldn’t argue with him, pressed her lips in silence, and smiled gently at the nervous Joanne, "Don’t misunderstand. I just am not used to being taken care of; it’s not that I have any opinion about you. I’d like some porridge, please."
Joanne felt much relieved by her smile, relaxing her shoulders, "I understand, Young Madam. Please wait a moment, I will serve it right away."
She swiftly and efficiently served Enna a bowl of porridge.
Then respectfully asked Baron Lawrence, "President Lawrence, would you like some?"
"No, I’ll just eat hers." He said domineeringly, picking up Enna’s bowl, spooning half of it into his own bowl, and returning the rest to Enna, "Here you go. The doctor said you should eat light liquid food these days. Plain rice porridge is best for you. Manage with it for two days and when you’re feeling better, I’ll take you to eat something delicious."
His tone was like coaxing a young girl.
Three lines of speechlessness crossed Enna’s forehead as she picked up the spoon and tried a bite.
Even though it was plain rice porridge in the bowl, it was clear that the person who cooked it had put great effort into it. The grains were white, soft, and sticky, and beyond the natural aroma of the rice, there was a slight hint of salt, making it more flavorful.
Having been unconscious for almost a day and a night, her stomach was already hungry.
Since it was just a meal with Baron Lawrence, there was nothing much to be particular about. She quickly finished more than half the bowl, wiped the corner of her mouth, and said to Joanne who was serving nearby, "Can you get me another bowl?"
"Sure."
Joanne worked efficiently and soon served her another bowl. However, this time, she was more deliberate, serving only three-quarters of the bowl for Enna.
As she handed the bowl to Enna, she didn’t forget to remind her softly, "Young Madam, the porridge is a bit hot, be careful."
