She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 174: Dominion System 2.0

"Lilith," Alex said, turning to face her fully. There was something he needed to understand first.

"Where do I actually stand now? I know I'm at Enhanced Realm, but..." He gestured to himself. "What does that mean in practical terms? How many people are at this level? And more importantly..."

His strategic thinking crystallized into the question that mattered most.

"Can I defend myself if necessary?"

Lilith's smile turned knowing, almost indulgent.

"Where you stand?" She moved closer, circling him with that predatory grace. "Let me put this in perspective, darling."

She stopped in front of him, those deep crimson eyes shimmering with quiet triumph.

"You are Enhanced Stage now. Early Enhanced, yes... but Enhanced nonetheless. Do you have any idea how rare that is?"

Alex shook his head.

"In this entire continent," Lilith said, her tone shifting into something between a lecture and a purr, "there aren't even a thousand people who've reached the level you're standing at right now."

She let that sink in before continuing.

"Most humans never transcend Peak Human. They live and die at 20 in their stats, thinking that's as good as it gets. Those who do break through?" She smiled.

"They become legends. The elite. The untouchable."

"But I'm just Early Enhanced," Alex said.

"There are others stronger than me. "

"True," Lilith said with a knowing smile. "There are others stronger than you... far stronger. But they're the cream of the crop, the kind you don't just stumble across."

"They're the leaders of factions, the hidden pillars of powerful organizations... people in positions most mortals can't even imagine approaching."

She leaned closer, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper. "But you… you're different, darling. Different from all of them. There's no one in the Enhanced realm who can stand against you. You're supreme here."

"You can handle Mid-Enhanced opponents... maybe even Peak Enhanced... with ease now. You're not as helpless as you once were."

Relief mixed with excitement in Alex's chest. He wasn't weak. He wasn't vulnerable.

He was powerful.

Maybe not the most powerful, but powerful enough.

"What about the Apex Realm?" Alex asked slowly.

His mind was already working through the implications. If Victor had been Peak Enhanced and advanced to Apex, that meant reaching Peak Enhanced was the next major milestone. The threshold between realms.

"I mean… if I'm at Early Enhanced and can already fight Peak Enhanced easily… then what happens if I reach the peak of this realm? Would I be able to fight Apex Realm beings too?"

Lilith laughed.

Not a polite chuckle or amused smile, but genuine laughter that rang through the bathroom with crystalline clarity.

It wasn't mocking, exactly, but it carried the weight of someone who'd seen power structures that transcended mortal understanding.

"Oh, darling," she said, her laughter fading into a warm smile. "No. You couldn't."

Alex blinked, taken aback by the certainty in her voice.

"Logically, you're thinking in linear terms," Lilith interrupted gently. "Peak Enhanced to Apex Realm isn't just a numerical increase, Alex. It's a fundamental transformation."

She gestured, and the air between them shimmered slightly, reality bending to illustrate her point.

"When you went from Peak Human to Enhanced Stage, what changed?"

"Everything," Alex said immediately. "My body, my mind, my very existence. It wasn't just getting stronger... it was becoming something different."

"Exactly," Lilith confirmed. "And the same thing happens when someone crosses from Peak Enhanced to Apex Realm. They don't just get their stats increase. They undergo a metamorphosis that changes the fundamental nature of their being."

Her wine-dark eyes held his, intense and knowing.

"Peak Enhanced beings are incredible. The absolute ceiling of what the Enhanced Realm can produce. But Apex Realm?" She smiled, and there was something almost reverential in her expression. "They exist on a different plane entirely."

She moved closer, her presence overwhelming in the small bathroom.

"Their power doesn't just increase... it qualifies. Their presence alone can suppress lower-realm beings. Their combat capabilities transcend anything Enhanced Stage can comprehend."

Alex felt his excitement dampening slightly, replaced by a more sobering understanding.

"So even at Peak Enhanced, I couldn't challenge an Apex Realm being."

"Not even close," Lilith confirmed, though her tone wasn't cruel. Just factual. "A Peak Enhanced being versus an Apex Realm being?" She shook her head. "It would be like you now trying to fight someone who could bend the battlefield itself with their will. The gap isn't just power... it's fundamental capability."

She placed a hand on his shoulder, her touch gentle despite the harsh reality she was delivering.

"But don't let that discourage you, darling. Peak Enhanced is still extraordinary. You'd be among the most powerful beings in this city. In this country, even. And with your Level 2 skills, you'd have advantages that other Peak Enhanced beings lack."

"Just not against Apex Realm," Alex said quietly.

"Just not against Apex Realm," Lilith confirmed. "That's a boundary that requires ascension, not just progression. And ascension..." She smiled mysteriously. "That's a conversation for another time."

Alex absorbed this information, his strategic mind recalibrating expectations.

He was powerful. Supreme in his current stage. Capable of challenging those above him within the Enhanced Realm.

But Apex was a wall. A ceiling. A boundary he couldn't cross through power alone.

"How does someone ascend, then?" he asked. "If power isn't enough, what is?"

Lilith's smile turned knowing, almost playful.

"That, my darling Master, is exactly the right question to ask." She stepped back, her form seeming to shimmer slightly in the bathroom light. "But it's not a question I'm going to answer tonight."

"Lilith—"

"You've just undergone a fundamental transformation," she interrupted, her voice taking on a more serious tone. "Your body is still adapting. Your mind is still processing what it means to be Enhanced Stage. Throwing ascension mechanics at you now would be overwhelming and premature."

She moved toward the door, pausing to look back at him with eyes that gleamed with satisfaction and something that might have been anticipation.

"For now? Enjoy being Enhanced Stage. Explore your new capabilities. Test your limits. Build your alliances." Her smile turned wicked. "And maybe put on some actual clothes before we continue this conversation."

Enhanced Stage. Supreme in his current level. Powerful enough to matter, but not powerful enough to challenge those who'd truly ascended.

It was humbling and exhilarating in equal measure.

He looked at the man in the mirror... at the transformed body, the intense eyes, the presence that seemed to fill the space around him.

"One step at a time," he murmured to his reflection. "Master this stage first. Then worry about the next."

The reflection stared back, and Alex could have sworn he saw agreement in those enhanced eyes.

There was work to do.

And he was finally powerful enough to do it.

He turned toward the door, ready to find some clothes and...

"Oh, and darling?" Lilith's voice drifted back from the living room, carrying that knowing lilt that meant she'd saved something particularly interesting for last.

Alex paused, hand on the doorframe. "Yes?"

"You might want to check your system interface before you get dressed." There was a smile in her voice, rich with anticipation.

"The System Level 2.0 upgrade has some... surprises waiting for you."

"New upgrades?" Alex asked, his enhanced mind immediately focusing despite his exhaustion.

"Oh yes," Lilith purred from the other room. "Quite a lot of new features, actually. The system at Level 2.0 is nothing like what you had before. New functions, new capabilities, new possibilities..."

Her voice took on that lecturing quality again, though he could hear the satisfaction underneath.

"You've been so focused on your physical transformation and power assessment that you haven't actually explored what being a true Master means. The system serves you now, Alex. And it has so much more to offer than simple missions and stat tracking."

"What kind of features?" he asked, already mentally pulling up the interface.

Lilith's laugh was rich with delight.

"Why don't you find out for yourself? Consider it... homework. Explore your new toys. I'll be here when you're ready to discuss what you discover."

Her tone turned playful, teasing.

"And do try to contain your excitement. We wouldn't want you breaking any more tiles."

Alex couldn't help but smile despite himself.

He looked down at his hands... at the power thrumming through enhanced muscles, at the potential waiting to be unlocked.

The system had transformed him.

Now it was time to see what else it could do.

[NEW FEATURES UNLOCKED]

The golden display expanded, revealing an entirely new interface structure that made the old Level 1.0 system look primitive by comparison.

"Go ahead," Lilith encouraged, settling back into the couch. "Explore it. Think of what you want to see, and the system will respond."

Alex focused on the interface, and immediately felt the difference. Where before he'd had to wait for notifications and prompts, now the system felt... responsive. Intuitive. Like an extension of his own thoughts.
