Sun Wukong sought out Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad for his expertise on treasures.
After being informed, Lord Lao Zi frowned.
"I am utterly clueless."
Lord Lao Zi spoke, "Great Saint, could you explain the details of the Wanling Immortal Path to me once more?"
"Since that is so."
Sun Wukong considered for a moment and said: "Then I'll gather the immortals to give a lecture."
Sun Wukong began to gather the immortals to expound on the Immortal Dao.
Meanwhile, in the Kingdom of Jisai, upon Daji's arrival, she saw a sea of people.
The King personally exited the city to welcome her.
"Welcome, Fairy, your esteemed presence graces us."
He expressed his joy and welcomed Daji with a beaming face.
"How does he seem to recognize me?"
Daji found it rather strange.
Lady Rakshasa wasn't surprised at all; Daji's name had already spread amongst the nobility of the Western Continent.
The King invited them back to the Royal Palace.
Wanling Country sent representatives primarily to further enhance trade and cultural exchange.
"We can provide the Kingdom of Jisai with thirty years of free rice seeds and teach you our best cultivation techniques."
Lady Rakshasa laid out the benefits first, saying, "The grain harvested can not only meet your needs but the surplus can also be sold to us."
Wanling Country was already a major nation, capable of absorbing the grain of smaller countries.
However, in exchange, Wanling Country hoped to conduct Spiritual Objects trade with the Kingdom of Jisai in the future, with both sides using Rune Coins.
"The exchange rate for Rune Coins will remain as it was before."
Lady Rakshasa said, "When you use Rune Coins to purchase Spiritual Objects, you can also enjoy a permanent discount."
"This..."
The King was somewhat enticed: "What kind of discount?"
"A reduction of twenty to thirty percent off the existing prices."
Lady Rakshasa offered some specific figures.
After hearing this, the King discussed it with his civil and military ministers.
As a small country, they didn't have much capacity to produce Spiritual Objects, but farming was simple.
The problem was, they could all sense that Wanling Country's aim was to sell Spiritual Objects.
This goal was not simple; the Kings debated for a long time without reaching a decision.
Daji was clueless about trade, but she knew that selling Spiritual Objects was no small matter.
"Can it be successful?"
She quietly inquired of Lady Rakshasa.
"It can."
Lady Rakshasa nodded: "They will agree."
As trade developed, Rune Coins had circulated in recent years, and countries had grown accustomed to the flow of money across borders, causing no sense of crisis.
Moreover, with Lady Earth Flow causing chaos in the Western Continent, the countries dared not defy Wanling Country, and they would surely agree in the end.
And just as Lady Rakshasa predicted, the King eventually consented.
Lady Rakshasa then moved on to the second matter: strengthening cultural communication.
Wanling Country took the initiative to send some demons to the Kingdom of Jisai to guide improvements in various production techniques.
At the same time, they also hoped that a portion of Princes, nobles' offspring, could go to Wanling Country to study.
The mention of this matter immediately sparked another round of debate.
"Your Majesty, this is essentially taking hostages."
"No, that's not necessarily a bad thing."
The ministers discussed amongst themselves, all overheard by Daji sitting on the side.
She yawned, idly combing her own tail.
"They argue over such a fine proposal."
"They worry more about their children than about trade."
Lady Rakshasa said.
But she believed these humans would eventually agree.
Lady Rakshasa suddenly thought of a way to save time.
She nudged Daji, "Smile at them."
"What?"
"Smile at them."
Lady Rakshasa instructed.
Daji understood.
The next moment, the civil and military ministers were helping the King, who was bleeding from the nose, sign the contract.
"This is even simpler than I thought..."
The next day, upon departure, Lady Rakshasa felt grateful in her heart for Daji's charm.
With that, their diplomatic visit wouldn't take up much time.
As soon as the two left, another delegation from Wanling Country arrived at the Kingdom of Jisai.
This was a quick move; Sun Wukong wouldn't wait for them to finish negotiations with each country before acting.
While strategizing for the Western Continent, Sun Wukong also held classes in Wanling Hall, imparting the Immortal Dao to certain individuals.
The first day, seven Spider Demons, out of curiosity, crowded around to listen but ended up sprawled on the ground, fast asleep halfway through the lecture.
Starting the second day, the number of listeners dwindled.
Two months later, only a handful remained.
Sun Wukong stopped teaching: "Is it really that hard to understand?"
"Yes."
Immortal Zhenyuan answered honestly, "You say that the foundation of this Immortal Dao is the Rune technology of Wanling Country, but I cannot comprehend it at all."
After listening for two months, he was completely baffled.
If even he couldn't understand it, it was even less likely for others.
The Wanling Immortal Path was not as simple as Sun Wukong described.
"The diagram of the great calamity you drew earlier can be interpreted in thousands of ways, and no one except you would know which interpretation to use," said Immortal Zhenyuan.
Even to Immortals, the Wanling Immortal Path was incredibly difficult to grasp.
"Younger brother, you should make it simpler," Immortal Zhenyuan suggested. "Otherwise, nobody will be able to learn it."
Sun Wukong was in a quandary.
He halted the lectures.
The Immortals had left, but Master Puti and Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad stayed behind.
"We have roughly grasped the principle."
Lord Lao Zi said to Sun Wukong, "Your Wanling Immortal Path is feasible."
This was the only common understanding between him and the Grandmaster.
The two perceived the Wanling Immortal Path differently, yet both sensed its boundless potential.
"There's just one question I have."
Lord Lao Zi continued, "The treasures you plan to create couldn't possibly be mundane objects; where will their power come from?"
"Isn't there some underground?"
Sun Wukong replied.
Lord Lao Zi stared blankly for a moment, then laughed.
"I had forgotten."
He took his leave to go back to his research.
A few days later, Daji and her companion returned.
"There are still a few countries that haven't agreed."
Lady Rakshasa apologized to Sun Wukong.
"It's okay."
Sun Wukong shook his head.
They had already persuaded most of the countries.
Sun Wukong looked at the list of countries that had not agreed.
What he had to do was already destined; no one could change it.
If soft measures didn't work, then they would have to try another method.
"It's time to make use of the Heavenly Venerate's power."
Sun Wukong thought, then turned to the sulking Daji by his side.
"You are welcomed in every country, why are you still unhappy?"
Daji snorted coldly, "I've been tricked by you; I only met with kings and nobles, how could that let more humans know me?"
"You will soon."
Sun Wukong smiled.
Daji was taken aback: "What do you mean?"
"I have a task for you," Sun Wukong said, his smile fading.
To take control of the Western Continent, the first step was to change the mindset.
"Starting today, I want to share the knowledge, arts, and civilization of Wanling Country..."
Sun Wukong said to Daji, "...with all humans in the Western Continent through musical notes."
Daji was shocked.
Sun Wukong continued, "And you will lead this effort."
"It sounds so troublesome..."
Daji felt she had been hoodwinked again.
