The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 462: What is Your Name?

The barrier transformed into sacred nectar that rained upon the earth.

However, apart from Tathāgata, who had a smile on his face, everyone else wore a bitter smile.

"What happened?"

Tathāgata asked.

"The barrier served as the screen for the Three Realms, its disappearance is not a good thing,"

the Jade Emperor answered, looking up at the sky.

Sun Wukong extended his hand, catching the nectar descending from the heavens.

The nectar that fell on his hand held no coldness; on the contrary, it flowed with warmth into his palm.

It was an unknown power, sensing that all beings now had the ability to depart from the Three Realms, the barrier began to donate its power to the earth. To the beings of the Three Realms, this was a gift.

If there were no great calamity looming, this nectar could substantially enhance the strength of all beings.

But now, what was once a blessing has turned into a curse.

Such thoughts flashed through Sun Wukong's mind.

"The barrier's fragmentation will need time."

Turning to Ao Luan, who stood behind him, he said, "Instruct the observatories of all nations to pay attention to the barrier and calculate the time."

"Understood."

Ao Luan bowed and withdrew.

"The observatories?"

Tathāgata slightly furrowed his brows. Observatories were agencies of mortal nations responsible for observing celestial phenomena, issuing calendars, and divining fortunes.

"How can they calculate the barrier?"

"Something the Buddha might not know,"

the Jade Emperor assisted, "The Imperial Brother governs the Three Realms, deploying many Star Officials across nations to replace the observatories' positions and keep an eye on external conditions."

"I see."

Tathāgata sighed. He had just awakened not long ago and was unaware of many things.

"I must return to Lingshan and go into seclusion for two months, to understand the affairs of the Three Realms,"

Tathāgata said, clasping his hands in a bow to the Jade Emperor and Sun Wukong. He then turned and left.

The Jade Emperor, along with a group of Immortals, also departed.

"Heavenly Emperor!"

Just as Sun Wukong was about to send the Immortals back to their posts, Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, who was studying the nectar, suddenly spoke up, "This water is peculiar."

Sun Wukong turned his gaze towards him.

"This water disappears when it encounters wood, water, fire, or earth, but remains unchanged only with metal,"

Lord Lao Zi bowed to Sun Wukong. "I believe this water still holds great potential. I implore the Heavenly Emperor to order everyone to use golden vessels to collect this water."

Sun Wukong's eyes gleamed with brilliance. He immediately issued the command.

The order swiftly spread to the Four Great Continents, and all beings hurriedly began collecting the nectar.

Immortals also employed spells to preserve as much nectar as possible.

A few days later, Lord Lao Zi achieved further advancements in his research on the nectar.

He discovered that the nectar retained the protective power of the barrier. Theoretically, it could transform back into the original barrier or become even stronger—only that he had not yet found a method.

Unfortunately, while the nectar held in golden vessels did not vanish, its power was gradually dissipating.

Time waited for no one.

Sun Wukong adopted Lord Lao Zi's suggestion and instructed nations to research the nectar's power.

This led to massive mobilization across nations. Even common people began to treat the nectar as a treasure for research.

A few more days passed, and Ao Luan found Sun Wukong at the misty Kunlun Mountain.

Sun Wukong was cultivating. Half a century after the unity of the Three Realms, the Four Great Continents were enveloped in mist, ethereal as fairylands, and the cultivation environment of Kunlun Mountain was incredibly miraculous, no less than the Heavenly Palace.

Ao Luan brought reports from the observatories of all nations.

"Fifty years?"

Sun Wukong opened his eyes from meditation. "Are you certain?"

"Certain."

Ao Luan stood three miles away to answer.

Over the fifty years, Sun Wukong's divine skills had advanced daily. No one in the Three Realms knew his current level.

The aura of the just-finished mediation was vast and majestic. Ao Luan dared not get too close, lest the immortal energy within his body become turbulent.

Sun Wukong took the time of an incense stick to gather his aura before standing up.

"Fifty years is neither too fast nor too slow. At least it gives us time. Let's go back."

Leading Ao Luan away from Kunlun Mountain, he said, "I have a premonition that the research on that water will yield results today."

Ao Luan paused unconsciously, halting in his tracks.

Seeing the anomaly, Sun Wukong looked back, "What's wrong with you?"

"Brother's ability to deduce is getting stronger,"

Ao Luan said, "Brother, are you planning to resolve that great calamity on your own?"

"I have no such intentions…"

Sun Wukong shook his head, saying, "This is the great calamity of the Three Realms. I cultivate diligently only to increase the chances of success, fulfilling what I should do."

Only then did Ao Luan breathe a sigh of relief.

The two returned to Huaguo Mountain and immediately found Lord Lao Zi.

Unfortunately, Lord Lao Zi's research had led to no fruitful results.

Ao Luan was quite surprised, thinking Sun Wukong's rare deduction might be wrong once, but then saw him suddenly fly towards Yunxiao City.

Below a building in Yunxiao City, cheers filled the entire street.

"Brother, what's happening here?"

Ao Luan asked Sun Wukong.

"Someone succeeded in their research,"

Sun Wukong said.

"What?"

Startled, Ao Luan followed his gaze and saw several people standing on the rooftop of a building.

"Never thought, he actually crafted a shield using the nectar,"

On the rooftop, Qing Yuanzi raised a shield high and said, "Let us thank its creator. Please, tell us your name loudly!"

The man was so excited that he shouted joyfully.

"Nezha, my name is Nezha!"
