The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 25: Three-Life Stone

After the sky-covering brightness disappeared, the egg fell into Sun Wukong's hands.

"What is this?"

He looked at the egg, wondering how an egg suddenly appeared during the battle.

"Did you give birth to this?"

Sun Wukong asked Jingu Bang.

Jingu Bang buzzed, damn it, this guy is blaming me wrongly.

It, feeling agitated, smashed towards the egg.

"Hey!"

Sun Wukong was startled, but on closer look, he found that the egg which was hit by Jingu Bang didn't have a single scratch on it.

This egg is really hard.

Sun Wukong thought for a bit, although he didn't know what it was, he still properly stored the egg.

He turned around and looked towards the land.

The sky had cleared up, and the ground had also calmed down.

Immortals were rescuing people in the flood.

Besides immortals, many birds, creatures, and demons emerged from forests to help in the flood.

Every being floating in the flood was gradually rescued.

Sun Wukong felt somewhat pleased.

Then, a rumbling sound came from afar.

Sun Wukong looked over only to see the floodwaters rising up, forming a huge wall of water, rushing straight towards the sea.

It was Nuwa; with her human body and snake tail, she used the Immortal Law to push the flood back into the ocean.

Some colorful phoenixes flew in front of the water wall, rescuing the refugees who couldn't retreat in time.

The huge waves galloped across the land, layer upon layer, absorbing all the water vapor around them.

The massive waves rolled across the land, the tidal waters in the mountains and forests receded, revealing the lush greenery.

In the plains, as the water receded, the lush vegetation sprang to life.

One day later, as the morning sun rose, the earth shimmered with golden light.

All the floodwater on the ground had disappeared.

Countless beings gradually returned to the plains, rebuilding their homes with the help of the immortals.

"Your Majesty."

In the Heavenly Palace, some lesser immortals bowed to Sun Wukong: "The floods in the surrounding areas have almost subsided."

"The flood in the east hasn't receded yet."

Sun Wukong looked towards the morning sun and said: "Go there and help Gong Gong."

"Yes!"

The immortals from the Heavenly Palace flew eastward, their figures disappearing in the morning light.

Nuwa returned to the Heavenly Palace.

"Fu Xi is dead."

Sun Wukong said so.

Nuwa nodded: "I saw."

She didn't want to marry Fu Xi, but after all, the two were siblings; seeing Fu Xi's death, she still felt somewhat sorrowful in her heart.

"I need to go to the Underworld once."

Sun Wukong spoke again: "You come with me."

"The Underworld?"

Nuwa looked up at him, thought for a moment, and then nodded.

Sun Wukong immediately took out the Book of Life and Death, and together with Nuwa, they descended into the ground.

On the way to the Underworld, countless lonely spirits and ghosts brushed past them.

"This great calamity has killed too many people."

Sun Wukong said: "It's a good opportunity to select some ghost soldiers and rebuild the Underworld."

Nuwa nodded.

Soon, they arrived at the Netherworld.

The air was filled with a bloody scent, and the desolate land was filled with ghosts.

These ghosts were densely lined up, moving forward without thought, as though they were puppets slowly walking forward.

"Are they without sentience?"

Nuwa, visiting this place for the first time, asked.

"The Six Paths of Reincarnation stripped them of their sentience."

Sun Wukong replied: "The Underworld lacks management; to prevent the ghosts from causing havoc, this is the best method."

Nuwa saw some children's ghosts, her gaze filled with pity.

Sun Wukong led her to the Six Paths of Reincarnation.

Nuwa looked at the enormous Reincarnation, feeling a hint of awe in her heart.

"Six Paths of Reincarnation."

Sun Wukong raised his head and said: "I want to establish the Underworld, what should I do?"

He knew that the immortals before the Reincarnation must have left information on rebuilding the Underworld.

Indeed, the Six Paths of Reincarnation emitted light, and suddenly, a beam of light flew out, landing in the distance.

"Let's go."

Sun Wukong led Nuwa to the banks of an already dried-up river.

"There's nothing here."

Nuwa looked around, seeing nothing but a broken bridge.

Sun Wukong looked around and realized: "This is a boundary."

He explained to Nuwa that one side of the river was the Underworld, and the other side was the land of reincarnation.

"There used to be a Magical Treasure here."

Sun Wukong looked at a concave spot by the river and said: "But it has already eroded away."

At that moment, light suddenly shone from Nuwa's chest.

She reached into her chest and took out a stone.

"Why did this stone suddenly light up?"

Nuwa asked.

"It wishes to perform the function of a boundary."

Sun Wukong's eyes sparkled with a hint of surprise: "Let me try."

He took the Divine Stone from Nuwa, went to the dry riverbank, and placed it down.

As soon as the Divine Stone was placed, it immediately enlarged, standing as tall as a person.

Several bright rays of light flew out from the distant Six Paths of Reincarnation and entered the Divine Stone.

"It seems… there's nothing abnormal."

Nuwa observed for a while and said.

Sun Wukong pondered for a moment, and then he realized—this was the work of the Heavenly Emperor.

He extended his hand and drew two horizontal lines on the stone.

"In the name of the Heavenly Emperor, I divide you into three segments."

Sun Wukong said: "Each segment, representing the past, present, and future lives of the common people."

After his voice fell, the Divine Stone suddenly glowed; the two horizontal lines turned into Divine Marks, splitting the entire stone into three sections.

Nuwa looked on in astonishment at this scene.

In front of Sun Wukong, a glow appeared with a faintly visible Jade Seal inside.

"Yama's Seal."

Looking at the faintly visible seal, Sun Wukong felt it was still not enough.

He thought for a while and then extended his hand to draw a vertical line on the Divine Stone, linking the three parts.

"This stroke shall be the thread of marriage, securing the marriage connections of past, present, and future lives."

After drawing, Sun Wukong addressed the Divine Stone: "From now on, you shall be called the Three-Life Stone."

As soon as his words ended, the Three-Life Stone suddenly erupted with a brilliant light, and the entire Underworld trembled with a rumbling sound.
