The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 37: I Need You to Lead the Way

In the mountains shrouded by cold winds, giants gathered around Kua Fu.

"The Clan Leader possesses extensive Divine Skills, but he can't withstand the True Sun Fire for so many days."

The old giant sighed, "Moreover, his injuries have not healed, making it difficult to utilize his Divine Skills. It's already not easy for him to hold on this long."

"What should we do now?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan asked.

"We still have to use herbal medicine."

The old giant shook his head and said, "It's just that I don't know where we can still find herbal medicine."

"I know."

Sun Wukong answered.

The old giant looked at him: "Where do you know?"

"To be exact, they know."

Sun Wukong turned around, looking at some figures on the snowy ground: "They will tell us."

They were a group of oddly shaped beings, including humans and demons.

"Who are they?"

The old giant asked.

"People who follow us."

Immortal Zhen Yuan answered.

Their running over the past few days attracted some beings to the Northern Wilderness.

"Younger brother, you are well-versed in the Three Thousand Immortal Paths."

Immortal Zhen Yuan said to Sun Wukong: "Do you intend to exchange teachings for herbal medicine?"

"Hmm."

Sun Wukong nodded.

He hadn't been in this world for long, but he could feel that there was no Heavenly Palace here.

Some of the Tao he mastered had a great attraction to the beings of this world.

And indeed it was proven true.

In just a few days, Sun Wukong had exchanged teachings for herbal medicine.

The time was short, and the teachings he imparted were only some superficial minor paths, but in this world, they were considered significant Tao.

Many beings wanted to take Sun Wukong as their master, but he declined.

Three days later, Sun Wukong and Immortal Zhen Yuan left the mountains to find the remaining herbal medicines.

These herbs were generally guarded by demon beasts, which ordinary people could not pick.

Sun Wukong and his companion enquired about the locations of the herbs from other beings, pushed through demon beasts along the way, and did not waste much time.

In one day, they had collected all the herbal medicines.

"This is the Red Vine Fruit."

Immortal Zhen Yuan stood on a giant rhinoceros, saying, "Once we pick it, we can go back."

"Hmm."

Sun Wukong looked at the Red Vine ahead.

The Red Vine, as thick as a human, cultivates from the essence of heaven and earth, with several red fruits on its vines, shaped like Flat Peaches.

This was the Red Vine Fruit, surrounded by a dense red mist rich in Spiritual Energy.

"Cover your ears."

Sun Wukong cautioned Immortal Zhen Yuan and reached out to pick the Red Vine Fruit.

Each time he picked one, a sharp sound would appear in the air, a noise the Red Vine produced to drive away enemies.

The sound occurred twenty times before Sun Wukong stopped his actions, handing the fruit to Immortal Zhen Yuan.

"If only my Ginsengfruit could also scream like this."

Immortal Zhen Yuan shoved the fruit into his sleeve, saying, "Then no one would dare to steal it."

Sun Wukong smiled, leading him back to the Northern Wilderness.

However, before reaching the Northern Wilderness, the two discovered that someone was following them.

Sun Wukong sensed their presence and couldn't help frowning slightly: "The newcomers harbor ill intentions."

Immortal Zhen Yuan laughed, "I wonder where they got the boldness of a leopard's heart and a bear's gall!"

As his words fell, two streaks of golden Sword Qi suddenly surged from behind, hitting both of them and dissolving into ashes.

"Too light."

Immortal Zhen Yuan shook his head.

"How could this be!"

A shocked exclamation came from the depths of the forest.

Followed by countless footsteps rushing towards the distance.

"Guests are coming, why are you running?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan turned, waving his long sleeves, and a sudden gust swept through the forest.

Yet after the gust, Immortal Zhen Yuan uttered a light exclamation.

"None?"

He flipped through his empty sleeves, and not a single being had been sucked in.

"Younger brother, what Sorcery did they use?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan asked.

"Earth Escape Skill."

Sun Wukong said, six specks of light flew out from his hand.

The specks of light fell in the distance, and immediately there were screams.

"Hand."

Sun Wukong clasped his hands together, and in an instant, it seemed as if six ropes appeared around him.

Once these six ropes appeared, the wind and clouds changed color, and the air rolled in from all directions, suffocating.

Those creatures trying to escape were bound by the ropes and forcefully pulled over.

"Ouch!"

They fell onto the muddy ground, bottoms first.

"What kind of spell is this!"

They looked at Sun Wukong in horror: "The Kua Fu clan are not proficient in using spells, who exactly are you?"

Immortal Zhenyuan couldn't help but feel speechless.

They didn't even figure out whether their targets were from the Kua Fu clan before they dared to ambush.

Sun Wukong looked curiously at these youngsters.

"Why ambush us?"

He asked.

"Because you are going to take the sun."

The creatures replied: "The sun must not be given to the Kua Fu clan!"

Sun Wukong became even more curious.

"Why can't it be given to them?"

The creatures looked at each other.

"Are you a fool?"

A female demon couldn't help saying: "If the sun is given to the Kua Fu clan, what about us creatures living in the south?"

Sun Wukong smiled.

"So that's what you're worried about."

He said: "I've thought about this."

After days of exploration, Sun Wukong had a preliminary understanding of this world.

He clearly realized that placing the sun in the Northern Wilderness would plunge other regions into darkness.

"I will ask the Kua Fu clan to place the sun in the middle of the southern and northern wildernesses."

Sun Wukong continued: "That is the center of the world, which can accommodate more creatures."

"The center of the wilderness?"

The creatures' eyes widened: "Do you want everyone to migrate there?"

"This is the best solution."

Sun Wukong nodded.

The creatures were somewhat unable to accept this.

"You're crazy, that area is the territory of demon beasts!"

"It's too dangerous!"

They appeared very panicked.

"Are you afraid of those demon beasts?"

Sun Wukong asked.

"Of course."

A dog-headed demon replied: "Those demon beasts have broad divine powers, and no one can defeat them."

"They flew down from Chaos."

Another human said: "It's said that they ate the original sun, forcing our ancestors to migrate south and north!"

"Those who have challenged the demon beasts ended up disappearing."

As the creatures spoke, Sun Wukong had already realized something in his mind.

He felt a warmth in his chest, reached in, and took out the egg that was faintly glowing.

"So that's how it is."

Sun Wukong's eyes sparkled.

Relocating creatures, driving out demon beasts, and letting the sun shine on life again, that's what he needed to do in this world.

But to accomplish this task, he couldn't do it alone.

Sun Wukong released the bindings of the creatures in front of him.

"Immortal."

He then looked towards Immortal Zhenyuan: "You take the herbal medicine back first, I have other matters to attend to."

"Okay."

Immortal Zhenyuan nodded, guessing what Sun Wukong was planning to do.

With Sun Wukong's communication skills, he was not worried at all.

"Then I'll head back first."

Immortal Zhenyuan flew towards the Northern Wilderness with the herbal medicine.

Sun Wukong turned to the creatures.

"Let's go, I need you to lead the way."
