The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 173: Less than One Ten Thousandth

Dawn was breaking, and the moist wind swept across Yongchun Island, rustling the lush bamboo leaves.

While walking on the island, Daji and the little fox heard the wind and looked up. They saw two white eagles flying out from Huaguo Mountain, swiftly and gracefully heading toward the ocean.

"Whose eagles are those?"

The little fox exclaimed in surprise, "They fly so fast!"

"It's the Great King."

Daji looked towards the sky, wagging her tail, "Ao Luan is there too."

The two figures in the sky seemed to be closer than before.

In the sky, Sun Wukong was delighted by Ao Luan's snow eagle form.

"Have you mastered all the 72 Transformations?"

He asked.

"Thoroughly."

Ao Luan replied. The 72 Transformations were Sun Wukong's specialty, but she had also learned it from the Grandmaster for a long time.

After Sun Wukong left, she kept practicing and naturally became proficient.

"Can you transform into this?"

Sun Wukong, feeling playful, burst into flames and turned into a Fire Phoenix, heating up the sky.

"I can."

Ao Luan's form shifted, becoming a slightly smaller Fire Phoenix, her wings bubbling like magma.

The two Fire Phoenixes flew one after the other towards the Southern Continent.

This trip was not a date but an inspection of the Three Realms.

Sun Wukong observed in all directions, imprinting the changes of the Three Realms in his eyes.

As Ao Luan explained, she noticed the Immortal Light shimmering around Sun Wukong.

The Immortal Lights formed totems, and the more Sun Wukong observed, the more totems appeared around him.

These totems flickered, undulated with the wind, and circled Sun Wukong like a group of playful children.

Ao Luan could not help but comment, "These Hongmeng Totems seem to be alive."

"Yes."

Sun Wukong nodded, "Everything in Hongmeng is filled with marvels."

Although with a very simple consciousness, these totem characters indeed had their own life and strength.

"Let me show you."

The Fire Phoenix that Sun Wukong transformed into opened its mouth and let out a phoenix cry. A red totem suddenly appeared in the sky, bursting with scorching light.

"What is this?"

Ao Luan looked at the red totem.

"Fire."

Having said that, the totem burst fiercely into flames.

In an instant, it dyed a patch of the sky red.

Ao Luan found this incredible.

As they talked and proceeded, after visiting the Southern Continent, they went to the Western Continent.

In the Western Continent, a pristine figure appeared amidst the clouds.

"Bodhisattva."

Ao Luan stopped.

"What a coincidence."

Guanyin smiled, and then turned to Sun Wukong, her hands joined in greeting: "Heavenly Emperor, long time no see."

"Long time no see."

Sun Wukong reverted to his original form: "What are you doing here?"

"This is an important grain field, and the dragon in charge of rain has been slacking. Recently the weather has been very hot, so I came to check."

Guanyin pointed to the verdant sea of rice: "It seems there is no need to worry."

Sun Wukong looked down, the rice sea was endless, and the massive glowing water wheels were visible.

Under the irrigation of these glowing water wheels, the crops were unaffected by the weather.

"Who improved these water wheels?"

Sun Wukong asked.

Ao Luan smiled, "It was Heavenly King Li."

"Heavenly King Li?"

Sun Wukong frowned slightly, "How did he do this?"

"He wants to eradicate famine."

Ao Luan replied, "Make it so that no mortals starve to death."

Sun Wukong was even more surprised.

"There are no longer people dying of starvation in this world."

The Bodhisattva Guanyin said smilingly, "I haven't heard a prayer for famine in over a decade."

The Three Realms had become more prosperous.

Sun Wukong was filled with joy.

After bidding farewell to Guanyin, he and Ao Luan continued forward, after visiting the Western Continent, they flew towards the other two Divine Continents.

The two did not rest even for a moment, until the next day, when they returned to Huaguo Mountain.

Ao Luan was somewhat reluctant.

"I have to go."

She bid farewell to Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong watched her turn to leave.

"Let me see you off!"

Sun Wukong said, "I'll go check on the Wanling Tree, it's quieter to cultivate in the Heavenly Palace than here."

"Okay."

Ao Luan immediately nodded happily.

Sun Wukong then took the crow and went with Ao Luan to the Heavenly Palace.

In the Virtue Palace, the Wanling Tree had grown immensely large, enough to shade the sun.

The Heavenly Dao Tree was flowing with Immortal Light, incredibly splendid, with Immortal Dao twinkling among the leaves, like flowing immortal mist.

"We've done our best to take care of it."

Ao Luan spoke, a hint of confidence in her expression.

"Indeed, very well cared for."

Sun Wukong nodded, he had seen the Wanling Tree the last time he was here, but this time he felt a deeper connection.

Every leaf of the Wanling Tree was a crystallization of wisdom from the Three Realms, some as bright as flames, others as luminous as stars, incredibly beautiful.

"What, what is this!"

The crow in the cage woke up.

It saw the Wanling Tree and immediately widened its eyes, stammering.

"How can there be such a treasure in the Three Realms!"

The crow had never seen such a dazzling object.

The massive tree exuded a spiritual energy that was unimaginably powerful and vast, its overwhelming charm surpassing all treasures from Chaos.

"I've been in the pharmacy for a thousand years, which has all the treasures from Chaos."

The crow kept staring at the Wanling Tree, seemingly able to see things ordinary people couldn't: "I'm sure, even the best treasures in the pharmacy aren't a ten-thousandth as good as this one."
