Evélyne silently watched on as Sasha left. Her eyes followed the Beastkin's movements.
'I hope they do well.'
She couldn't help but think as she saw Sasha vanish through the door. When the door closed behind Sasha, Evélyne calmly stood up and walked to the door. With measured steps, it didn't take her long to cross the threshold.
On the other side of the door, Evélyne found herself in a serene training field bathed in soft, ambient light. The sky overhead was a pale, cloudless blue, yet the lighting felt artificial, this was quite obvious given there was no sun in sight.
The ground beneath her feet was a wide expanse of immaculately trimmed silvergrass, soft and springy underfoot, interspersed with narrow stone walkways that traced quiet paths across the field.
Carved pillars encircled the area at regular intervals. Gentle winds carried the faint scent of blooming flowers, as if the space had been designed for both battle and reflection.
Opposite to her stood a silver-haired Prismari man, standing at roughly two meters tall. He wore a tightly-fitted dark grey combat uniform. With his arms behind his back, he simply observed Evélyne. Standing about ten meters away from each other, their gazes locked for a few moments before Evélyne asked,
"What level are you… sir?"
"I am at level 6."
He said simply. Evélyne's pupils visibly dilated but her expression didn't shift as she asked,
"Are weapons allowed?"
The man shook his head with a smile.
"No miss Evélyne, this is just a simple test of your capabilities. We will just have a light spar. You can attack whenever you are ready."
Evélyne nodded and entered her stance. To her, no more words needed to be exchanged. For a long moment, the only sound was the soft whisper of wind over the field as it rustled the grass and their hair.
Then, with a sudden shift in her focus, Evélyne lunged forward. She almost vanished as she closed the distance between them in an instant, striking out with a palm. The silver haired Prismari spread his feet apart and responded in kind.
With a muffled clap, they retracted their limbs from the stalemate. Evélyne gaze remained apathetic as she unloaded a series of precise strikes. Each move was as fluid as water.
The instructor on the other hand, just blocked and parried her every move. But as the exchange went on, he was subtly being pressed back more and more. Evélyne's strikes shrinking the distance between every dodge, her feints becoming more elusive and cunning.
Three seconds in, a side kick grazed his torso forcing him to step back even further. The man frowned. There was no advantage to be gained against Evélyne, her attacks seemed to have every move he would make in mind much to his surprise.
Evélyne wasn't phased as she pressed her attack even more. She thrusted out a knife hand at the instructors neck, he could feel a sharp intangible energy radiating from it hungry to take his life.
With no other choice, he stretched his hand in front of him, the air hardened into a transparent dome which blocked Evélyne's deadly attack with a sharp crack. A rebounding force shoved her back a few meters as he suddenly spoke.
"Impressive."
Clouds began forming in the sky while Evélyne's expression remained impassive. She regained her footing and her eyes took on a ruby glow as she shifted her stance forward, multiple crimson Runes appearing on her black robes. Without a word, she vanished with a streak of red light.
Crack!
Her energy coated palm cracking the examiner's shield with her latest attack. Unphased, he slammed the shield forward, breaking Evélyne's attack as he stepped forward with a front kick.
Bang!
The blow landed firmly on Evélyne's crossed arms sending her flying back.

'Let's see where her limits lie.'
With that thought, the Examiner's eyes became a burning silver and he vanished with a thunderous boom.
With a loud blast of Spirit energy, Evélyne blocked a kick from the examiner with a spinning elbow. Swiftly correcting her stance, Evélyne whipped out a sharp kick only to strike nothing but empty air. The ruby glow in her eyes brightened.
'[Lifeblood Circulations]—[Bloody Stride].'
With that thought, she vanished as well, even faster than before. Her form life energy now carrying a stronger hint of that intangible sharpness. Her foe reappeared where she stood with a thunderous blow, striking a life like afterimage. A frown formed on his face as he thought,
'I may be holding back but how is she predicting—'
Bang.
A power force smashed into his back, luckily he conjured an air shield just in time to absorb the blow. He spun into a back hand which Evélyne evaded perfectly and countered with a knife hand chop. It almost seemed like the instructor was leaning into the fatal strike. The Prismari's silver eyes shrunk in realization,
'I can't block it in time.'
Boom!
A blast of air was released from his position, knocking Evélyne tens of meters away. With a few controlled twists and flips, she landed firmly on both feet. A broad smile on her face as she got back in a stance. Ruby eyes blazing as she read his Spirit energy and something even deeper—his Vitality.
'So this is what a level six is capable of?'
She asked herself in excitement. The originally calm and serene atmosphere had shifted, cloudless skies were now filled with dark clouds, powerful gusts of wind ran rampant as lightning crackled in the air.
The life energy in the air began volatile as it flooded towards Evélyne like she was an Estuary of power. Its strand of energy struggled to arrive first causing the wind to surge violently.
The silver haired Prismari stood relaxed though his eyes glowed with some powerful Spirit energy. He calmly retracted his power as he said,
"The assessment is over—"
"No."
Evélyne said firmly,
"I haven't given my best yet. That was the purpose of this test, wasn't it?"
The man took Evélyne in before slowly nodding. Evélyne's smile grew even more radiant,
"Then I recommend you do your best as well, melee isn't your strong suit."
She said bluntly as the Life energy in the air stirred even more. Her red-tinged hair exploded into a rich, blood-crimson hue, the strands fluttering as her usually withdrawn aura was released wildly.
The air crackled around her as the Runes on her garments brightened. Her stance calmly shifted, going from a loose defensive stance to a wider and more aggressive stance.
One foot slid back, widening her base, while her knees bent just slightly to lower her center of gravity. Her back straightened, and her shoulders aligned with surgical discipline. Her arms raised, one pulled back near her waist, the other forward like the blade of a drawn bow.
The Prismari man looked at her somewhat stunned before smiling as well.
"I will oblige you, miss Evélyne. [Eye of the storm]."
When he uttered the name of his Skill, the storm which had been brewing was unleashed. Powerful winds ripped through the field while the examiner's Spirit energy flared.
"Here I come."
Evélyne said simply as she rushed forward, leaving scores of after images that began moving independently from her. The Prismari didn't panic as he just calmly snapped his fingers.
BOOM!
Tens of lightning bolts struck down from the sky, hitting Evélyne and her copies simultaneously. When the smoke cleared, Evélyne was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, she materialized behind the Prismari as she thrusted out a knife hand, her palm coated in a scalp tingling amount of Life energy. More than that, the strike absorbed more life energy as it traveled, seeking to end the instructor's life in one clean hit.
'[True Exsanguination.]'
Surprisingly, her palm struck nothing but a white light. She swiftly vanished as well.
Boom!
A fraction of a second later, lightning struck down on her position. She quickly found the examiner again thanks to her acute senses, but when she got into position to strike,
Boom!
Lightning struck down. And then again and again. Each time she slowed down to make a move, the examiner would blink away and a bolt of lightning would accompany her.
'No wonder mother wouldn't let me fight a level 6. They are obviously holding back but I can't even pressure them with my speed… At least I can see the difference now, I should end it here.'
With that thought in mind, Evélyne sent out a mental message.
/If I can't hit you with this move, I concede defeat./
Not waiting for a reply, she closed her eyes. She focused deep within herself as she wielded her Spirit and Life energy with absolute control. When she opened her now pure crimson eyes, she chanted mentally.
/Essence of perfection—Layered [Exsanguination]!/
Within her core, the four platonic Runes flashed as her figure bursted into thousands of crimson afterimages. Each one rushed forward at hypersonic speeds. The instructor simply pointed to the sky. Lightning rained down from the heavens like divine judgment, every millisecond second that pass tens of clones were disintegrated.
But Evélyne pressed on with a savage smile on her face as she miraculously dodged the strikes aimed at her. Just as she closed the final meters and raised her arm to strike—he vanished. A streak of white light cut across her vision, and in the next instant, everything slowed. Her world drowned in blinding white.
'??!'
"That does it, no?"
She felt a very warm finger on her forehead, the heavy stench of ozone still very present in the air. With bright eyes, she said,
"Yes, thank you for indulging me."
The man retracted his hand with a slight smile,
"Anytime."
They both powered down, the storm clouds rapidly fading into cloudless skies and the winds calming. Evélyne's hair and expression went back to normal and she let out a deep exhale. She tried to bow to the man but she vanished before she could. The man stood with a slight smile as he thought,
'So that's the princess of the Beastkin Queendom…'
A hologram appeared in front of him and he gave Evélyne's gradings.
