4.6. Children of the Forsaken

James opened his eyes to the white misty void that came from his dreams of the others. The ground was firm below his feet as he panned his gaze in a circle around him, turning with each step.

"I'm mad at you."

Smiling, he turned around and found Luna walking toward him with crossed arms. Tight white shorts and chest wrap kept her covered, if barely. "What did I do this time?"

Tapping her finger against her arm, she furrowed her brows at him. "You were supposed to kiss Amber by now. And now it appears you should be kissing a certain kitsune also."

"Why include Zenaria in this?"

Uncrossing her arms, Luna stepped up and took his hands. "I mean this with all of the love in my heart, James, but you are an idiot. When this is all over, we need to repopulate your people. I cannot have all those children myself."

Frowning, he started to pull his hands back. "You really want me to sleep with them? You know I'm not going to let them escape any relationship I start with them, right?"

"Oh, I know." Pulling his hands to her chest, she smiled. "It's one of the things I love about you. You love honestly, and I know they will do good for you. At least until I come back. And if you don't get a move on, I'm going to start influencing you more."

"Influencing me?" Raising his brow, he waited for her answer.

Giggling, she pulled herself to his chest and rested her cheek against him. "I know you've noticed the calm feeling I've been giving you. If you don't make a move on Amber or Zenaria soon, I'm going to make you so horny you will pin them down."

Sighing, he wrapped his arms around her. "Maybe I just want you. I want to wait until we are back together."

"That's sweet of you, love, but you need them as well. It's going to be a while before we are together again, and I need to know you are taken care of. They will handle all of your needs."

"You're not giving up, are you?" he teased.

"Nope! And you wouldn't have me any other way." Pulling back, she met his gaze with all the love she could muster. "Seriously, James, make a small building for you and Amber and talk with her. Bring Zenaria with and talk with her too. You have until noon before I make you very horny, mister."

"That's not much time," he protested.

Tightening her glare, she poked his chest. "I need to know that you are taken care of, James. I also want your people to walk the world again. That means children. Lots of children. So many that you will need a palace to house them all. It's not like our family isn't big enough to help with them all."

Blowing out a slow breath, he let her go and sat down. "I don't know how to feel about this…"

"I know." Sitting with him, she rested her hand on his leg. "I want to tell you to wait for me. To only desire me, but we both know the longer you are with Amber and I'm not around, the more you'll do. You two have been smitten with each other since you met. We don't know how long I'll be gone, and I need to know that you are loved. I don't care how many soulmates you take, or wives, or simple lovers. I already know I'm beyond any of those."

"You are?" he questioned with furrowed brows and a slight frown.

"James, I can literally influence your soul." Laughing, she leaned against him. "When I died, our souls merged. That's why I can already visit you again and can stay for longer. I've been siphoning some of the energy you've been gathering. Our souls are one now, my love. Just look at me."

Frown growing, he grabbed her shoulders and pushed her out to arm's length. Peering at her white visage, he narrowed his eyes until he saw it. The tinge of violet below the surface. Prodding her with his soul, he found it like touching his own. They truly did share a soul.

"How?" he asked.

"How much do you love me?" she asked. "Trust me? Care for me? Never want to live without me?"

The questions kept coming as the answer began to form. He wanted her so desperately when she died that he had pulled her into himself. She willingly merged with him, bringing them both to new heights.

"Why did you have to go?" he whispered.

Scooting into his lap, she pressed their foreheads together. "I won't take back what I did, James. The energy I gave you helped you win the fight. My sacrifice was worth it, and now I know you can kill The Pact. You'll be able to bring me back and we'll have lots of little Fenrir."

"Luna…"

Pressing a finger to his lips, she stopped him. "Don't take away from what I did. Besides, I'm not here just to talk with you."

"You aren't?" he mumbled around her finger.

"I wonder what it'll be like, having sex in our soul." Pulling at her chest wrap, she raised a brow at him. "Are you really going to stay dressed?"

Scooting her off him, he started with his shirt. Hopefully there wouldn't be any physical signs when he woke.

Waking up after a wonderful dream, James stretched his arms above his head. Amber grumbled something from on top of his chest before wiping her nose on his shirt, making him grimace.

That's so disgusting.

He knew she didn't care and a moment later, she woke up. To his surprise, Zenaria was curled up on his other side, pressing her face into his ribs. Chuckling, he woke her as well.

"Why?" the kitsune grumbled. "I was having such a good dream."

Patting both of them, he said, "I have to get up. There's something I have to do today."

Yawning, Amber covered her mouth. Once she recovered, she asked, "are you going to enter the facility you found yesterday?"

It had already been a week of being at the rent and it was time to learn if he could close it. That meant entering the facility and learning what he could. Hopefully it would have something that was holding it open. But instead, he was going to take Luna's demands to heart.

"Not yet," he answered. "There's something I have to build."

Propping herself up on her elbow, Zenaria regarded him with a wary expression. "Really?"

"Just a small, private building for us."

"Us?" Amber questioned. "As in all three of us?"

"Yes. That's what I said." Waving her off, he tried to dismiss their curiosity.

"Does that mean you want both of us?" Zenaria asked, her voice filled with hope as her tails wagged excitedly behind her.

Glancing at Amber, he found her tail swaying just as madly as her eyes burned with desire. "Yes," he answered softly.

Amber slammed her lips to his, forcing her tongue into his mouth as if she was dying of thirst and he was the water of life. She didn't come back up for air for several seconds. "Finally!"

Zenaria giggled and partially climbed on top of him, her leg draped over both of his and her bountiful chest pressed against his side. Unlike Amber, she kissed him much more tenderly.

"Do I still need to build our small house for this talk?" he asked as they broke apart.

"I don't know if we have enough time to celebrate," Amber admitted with a huff. "When we reach the Underworld?"

"Both of us," Zenaria added. "What made you decide?"

Sighing, he told them about the dream with Luna and her desire for more children than they could possibly handle. Both girls broke down laughing before clinging to him.

"Thank you, Luna," Amber whispered. "I'm glad we have her blessing."

"I am too," Zenaria added.

Rubbing both of their backs, he savored the moment. Everything was changing and Luna seemed positive that he could repopulate the world with his people. He had to admit that the thought appealed to him more than he wanted to tell her. She likely already knew though with how she shared a soul with him.

"We need to get started," he said, bringing the moment to an end.

Both ladies kissed him one more time before getting up.

"Due north from here?" Amber asked to clarify.

Getting up, James twisted his back a few times, feeling the relieved pops of his spine. "Yes. We'll have to run the entire way to reach it, but the monsters won't bother us with me there."

Zenaria stretched a few times before walking towards the door. "Let's go."

Realizing that he was falling behind, James hurried to catch up. Even Amber had started to leave before him. Once they were outside, they filled Mother in on what they were doing before darting off. Priest was staying behind, mostly because they forgot to ask him to come.

Luna smiled warmly as she pulled the dome off the collected energy. Mender was rubbing his hands together greedily as the others gathered around the table. "It's all yours, Mender. Please visit him soon."

Jamie and Linda grumbled about losing, while Grace was all smiles for not betting in the first place.

"Did anyone have it in the cards that he would choose both of them?" Bronson asked, having found enough energy to join them.

Luna raised her hand.

"Cheater," Jamie said with a hint of annoyance. "Not all of us can feel everything he's feeling."

Laughing, Luna waved her off. "Even a blind person could see that James had feelings for Zenaria as well. Now, we just need them to cement their relationship."

Everyone chuckled as they watched the world blur past James. The man was running as fast as the others could keep up. Monsters scrambled to get out of the way as he active Setting of a Thousand Suns every mile to wipe out a thousand of his foes at a time.

"That move is like cheating," Linda stated.

"He's powerful," Mender argued. "He needs more strength than that for what's to come. Besides, doesn't he need like ten million souls to level up again?"

Luna nodded. "He does. Or he could close the rent and probably level up instantly. After all, his people's power and remnants of their souls are collected in the rents. He could claim all of that."

Jamie whistled. "If he closes all of the rents, then he will be able to bring us back that much quicker."

"Thanks to Mender, that is the plan," Luna said. Crossing her legs, she marveled at the nekorian and kitsune that ran by his side. Forsaken truly were his people, and his taste in women reflected that. In the future, demi-humans would have the most strength in the world, thanks to James and his children. It would be perfect.

A throat cleared near her head, making her snap her attention to Jamie. "Yes?"

Narrowing her eyes, Jamie poked Luna's cheek. "What are you plotting?"

"Nothing!" she huffed.

Grace snorted a laugh. "As if."

Grumbling, Luna crossed her arms. "I was just thinking about how all of James's children will change the dynamic of the world. That's all."

"Because you are all demi-humans," Mender stated. "Maybe I should throw Jamie at him just to have a few human children."

"Fuck you!" Jamie growled.

Everyone laughed again before Luna waved them off. "I like the dynamic. But really, he needs many children. I hope you are all ready."

Rubbing her hands together, Grace beamed. "More than ready."

"I get to cuddle the first baby before all of you!" Jamie chirped.

Rolling her eyes, Luna turned back to the screen. Make me proud, James. I know you'll be happy with both girls. That's all that matters, and I promise not to influence you like I threatened. This is all on you. Just forgive me if I bask in your bloodlust when we find The Pact.
