A Blunt Sword and a Broken-hearted Villager

Ch. 1

Chapter 1: Starting as an Adventurer

Bray Krass, an ordinary villager living in Newham Town, currently worked as a farmer.

Of course, this was not a job to be looked down upon, at least Bray was actually quite satisfied.

If nothing had happened, he probably would have been an honest farmer for his whole life, and then lived a peaceful life in the town.

After all, he was not some genius, and had no talent whatsoever.

“Morning.” The black-haired, twin-tailed girl said good morning to the young man in front of her who bore some resemblance to herself.

And then.

“Bro, breakfast is about to burn! No, it's already burnt!” The girl, who was still rubbing her drowsy eyes, suddenly cried out in alarm.

But the young man making breakfast, as if he couldn't hear his sister's cry of alarm, woodenly moved the spatula in front of him.

This young man's name, as mentioned a few seconds ago, was Bray Krass, and his younger sister, this girl, was Lux Krass.

Bray had always lived a very ordinary life.

Oh… no, if one had to mention something remarkable, it would be that Bray had recently suffered a huge blow.

His childhood sweetheart, or girlfriend, rather, ran off with a Hero who was recruiting companions.

Hero, was an honorary title for young people with excellent talent and the courage to challenge powerful enemies.

Actually, the Hero and all that was not the point, what Bray cared about was that his girlfriend had run off with someone else.

What's with this NTR plot... starting out like this, are you really not afraid of scaring the readers away.

“Bro!!! Wake up ahhh!” Lux screamed, snatching the pot and spatula from Bray, stopping the act that was called cooking, but was in fact arson.

“Ah, Lux, morning.

“Breakfast isn't ready yet.” Bray came back to his senses and looked at Lux with a pair of dead fish eyes.

“Are you trying to burn our house down?”

“I know that your girlfriend running off and all is very upsetting, so I'm not asking you to pull yourself together too much.”

“But please don't do things like burning the house down!”

Facing Lux's nagging, Bray turned a deaf ear, tidied up the cooking counter on his own, then found a string to tie up his hair, making a small braid in the back.

“Sigh… the sun is so glaring, why does it feel so uncomfortable to be in the sunlight.” Bray sat on a chair and sighed.

“Don't just randomly add settings for yourself!?” Lux facepalmed.

“Lux…” Bray suddenly called out to Lux.

“What is it, bro?” Lux shook her two pigtails, tilting her head to look at Bray

“Nothing, in a few days, you'll be going to the Imperial Capital for school, right?”

Newham Town was a small town in the Weir Empire, and the empire's capital, like the empire's name, was Weir City.

And so, Lux was accepted into the Imperial Capital Academy.

An ordinary older brother, with an outstanding younger sister.

Such a nice setup.

“Yeah, what's wrong?”

This was a world different from Earth, and this world was called 「Capras」 by its people.

Capras was quite large, not losing out to Earth in the slightest, from south to north, there were countless continents, countless civilizations, thus the world's power system was very complex, with magical spells, simple swordsmanship, advanced technology…

And Lux was very talented in magic, a genius one might say, her acceptance into the Imperial Capital Academy was even within Bray's expectations.

“I want to go to school too.”

“...”

“Just kidding, I want to go out for a bit, for example, become an adventurer or something.”

“And I can support your studies on the side.”

“The income from the fields is enough for our family…” Lux tilted her head and looked at Bray, puzzled.

“Actually, I just want to go out and clear my head.” Bray looked at Lux with a straight face, with a "do you have to make me say it so clearly" expression.

“Mmm…” Lux pursed her lips and looked at Bray.

Ever since Bray had his heart broken, his whole person had become dispirited.

The sunny, handsome, and cheerful young man had turned into a dispirited man with dead fish eyes.

“You can go to the academy without worry, I'm just going to clear my head.” He casually stroked Lux's hair and said softly.

Well, even though he said that, Bray was still feeling very down.

After all, his own childhood sweetheart plus girlfriend was snatched away, anyone would feel terrible, right.

Damn NTR plot, why is this development so unfriendly to a villager.

When he went to try and make her stay, what he heard was repeated "I'm sorry", and saw the way his girlfriend looked at the Hero with admiration.

Bray felt that he would never believe in something like "love" again.

“If you're going out, then what about this house?”

“Let's rent it out, or let the aunt next door look after it.”

“I understand.” After the conversation, Lux was a little down.

Lux had a feeling, an illusion that they would never be able to come back and live here again.

“It's really fine, in the future, we'll come back.” Bray patted Lux's head, and although he wasn't smiling, his eyes were still full of adoration.

“After all, this is our original home.”

Bray now felt that a girlfriend was really not as good as a younger sister.

Or maybe German Orthopedics would be a good choice?

Just kidding.

“Once you go to the Imperial Capital, bro won't be able to follow.”

“Yeah.”

“But if you get bullied, you still have to tell me.”

“Yeah.”

“If you don't have enough money, tell me too.”

“Yeah.”

Lux hugged Bray, and although there were no words, it expressed everything..

---

A few days later, Lux got on a horse-drawn carriage and headed for the Imperial Capital.

The house, which had been bustling with his sister around, became deserted.

Bray slammed the door shut with a pa and locked it tight.

Taking a few steps back, Bray looked up at the house he had lived in for more than ten years.

A strange light flickered in Bray's dead fish eyes.

Bray slung his cloth sack back over his shoulder and left on foot.

“An adventurer, huh?” Bray murmured.

At that very moment, Bray dazedly saw a vast expanse of white around him.

There was nothing, not even a sound.

It made one feel an endless void.

Only a flickering white light.

“What was that just now?” Bray clutched his head, frowning.

“Looks like I haven't had enough sleep.” He sighed and continued his journey.
