As much as Ethan Yardley hated to admit it, the fact remained that no matter how hard he tried, he could never surpass his younger sister, Faye Yardley.
The top spot on the Individual Combat Power Rankings was eternally occupied by a name he knew well and was proud of.
While his sister’s success certainly brought him joy, as an older brother, he wanted to be someone she could rely on, not a burden to her.
That’s right. He felt that if he stayed in the World of Ocean Survival any longer, he would just end up holding his sister back.
So, he told his sister he was heading to Planet Nocturne to train under his master and further hone his skills. Then, without hesitation, he transferred his position as guild leader to Gavin Donovan, who was more than capable of handling things on his own.
Upon using the token his master had left him, he arrived on Planet Nocturne and immediately felt a scorching heat permeating the air.
The natural climate here was invigorating, making him feel completely at ease in both body and soul.
Brooke looked up at Ethan Yardley. “Ha, so you’re our new junior brother! Hop in, I’ll take you to the place Master arranged. Oh, by the way, Master went on a little trip to the World of Ocean Survival and still isn’t back. It’s not that he’s intentionally not here to greet you. The other brothers and sisters are away too, so I’m the only one left to hold down the fort and wait for you.”
It had to be said, there was a unique bond between Master Momo’s disciples. They would never mistake one another, even upon their first meeting.
Ethan Yardley smiled, retrieving a giant lollipop from his Storage Ring and handing it to her. “Thanks for waiting for me, Seventeenth Senior Sister. Here’s something sweet for you.”
“Hehe~ Nice! You’re from the World of Ocean Survival, right? Do you know Faye Yardley?”
“I do. She’s my sister.”
“Woah! No way, you’re Miss Yardley’s brother? Well, if anyone on Planet Nocturne gives you trouble, just drop my name. I’ve got your back.”
Ethan Yardley hadn’t expected to still be reaping the benefits of his sister’s reputation even after leaving the ocean. He chuckled, “Well, thank you in advance, Seventeenth Senior Sister.”
He had expected Planet Nocturne to be a desolate wasteland, much like the deserts on Aquaria. He certainly hadn’t imagined this. After leaving the Planet Nocturne starport and boarding a so-called “car,” he found himself cruising along a low-altitude track. The view wasn’t of swirling yellow sands or a forest of skyscrapers. Instead, the landscape was rich with towering mountains, lush green trees, and flowing water. Colorful flowers bloomed with wild enthusiasm, gathered in vibrant clusters and festooning the trees. The mingling of their scents wasn’t cloying or unpleasant; on the contrary, it was fresh and invigorating.
Yet, the temperature in the air hadn’t dropped at all. In fact, in some areas, it even exceeded 100 degrees Celsius.
It was truly an incredible place.
As they traveled, Brooke gave him a brief rundown of the place in between licks of her lollipop.
As disciples of Master Momo, once they completed their apprenticeship, each one was put in charge of an entire city. Since Ethan Yardley had just arrived, he would be training in a designated area within his master’s own city.
The overall temperature in Master Momo’s city was even higher, but the city itself wasn’t particularly large. Instead, it was surrounded by a series of towering mountains.
Brooke led him directly to a mountaintop covered in purplish-red flowering trees.
“Here,” she said. “Take out your Disciple Jade to open the ward on the mountain. There are living quarters and daily supplies already waiting for you inside.”
Ethan Yardley did as Brooke instructed, adding her All World Communication number. He then accepted a purplish-red Transponder Snail that she handed him.
“This is the communication device we use on our planet. Just use this for everyday contact.”
“Got it. Thanks, Seventeenth Senior Sister.”
Brooke hummed in acknowledgment. “I’ll have your personal steward come by in a little while.”
Hearing the words “personal steward,” Ethan Yardley paused. “Ah, I brought someone with me.”
Once his raft had been bound to him, it became his personal property. When he left the World of Ocean Survival, the raft—and Rainie Yardley, who was on it—came with him. It was currently in a Subspace, and he needed a proper place to set it down before he could bring it out.
“The person you brought and the steward Master arranged for you are two different things. It’s not a conflict,” Brooke said with a wink.
Ethan Yardley used his Disciple Jade to open the ward. He quickly spotted a house halfway up the mountain. Nearby, there was a large lake—a perfect spot to place his raft.
He was very pleased with the living conditions. He hadn’t come here to take a vacation, but a pleasant environment lifted his spirits. He wasn’t the type to seek out hardship for its own sake.
‘Little sister, you have to be okay. I’ll work hard to complete my apprenticeship as soon as I can, and then I’ll come and see you.’
