Chapter 3774: Well Then

The older sister Xian talked about was none other than the bigger Umbra they had seen here before. Just like Xian, she also helped the younger Umbras that were born just recently when they didn’t manage to get enough Shadow Energy.

"Oh, that one?" Rean nodded. "Can we trust her?"

Xian nodded vigorously. "Yes! I trust her completely!"

Roan narrowed his eyes. Xian still had a childish mind, so could he really trust as he said he did? But then again, it wasn’t like the twins had a better choice. "Should we wait here for her to return, or do we go after her?"

"We can wait," Xian said. "I’m not sure which tunnel to the outside she is using today anyway. It will be faster to simply stay here."

Neither of the twins complained, and there they stayed for several hours. After all, the absorption always took a long time. Let’s not forget that Xian had been out for weeks, too.

The so-called big sister wasn’t the first one to return, though. Instead, some of the younger Umbras came back earlier than her, and Xian told them to go do something else and come back later.

Out of curiosity, Rean asked if Umbras had genders like the human race. Xian confirmed they had... or at least he believed they did. Their genders, or more specifically, their minds, were deeply intertwined with the fragments of memories they carried. If they were mostly female, you would develop a female mind. If male, the male personality followed, which was Xian’s case.

So, it wasn’t wrong to divide them between females and males, but it wasn’t entirely correct either.

It wasn’t before fourteen hours that the bigger Umbra appeared, surprised to see that only Xian had returned so far. However, what truly shocked her was the concentration of Shadow Energy he had in his body. "How did you get so much Emotional Energy this fast? I was already worried you’d been attacked or something, but not only are you fine, but you also look like you’re trying to boost your strength. You should be able to use all that energy to take a step closer to Level Two."

Xian wasn’t interested in that at the moment. "I’ll think about it later."

"Is that so?" The female Umbra noticed Xian didn’t answer her question, but she didn’t insist either. "Anyway, some of the kids should have returned already. Is there no one else yet?"

Xian shook his head in response. "They came back, but I sent them out again. Big Sister, come with me. I want to introduce you to two friends I met."

The Umbra narrowed her eyes. Calling someone a friend in a place like this wasn’t easy. Xian was childish, and the female Umbra knew it, so she immediately wondered if someone was pulling Xian’s leg. Of course, she quickly entered their home to take a good look at these new ’friends’ Xian mentioned.

The insides of the black sphere home were empty, though. "Are your friends on their way here?"

Xian smiled and closed the sphere. Only then did Rean and Roan appear as Rean released his Light Bending Skill. "Hello!"

"Ah!" The Umbra immediately shot back, but the entrance was closed, so she tried to open it as fast as she could.

"Wait, big sister!" Xian stopped her from doing so. "They are my friends. You don’t need to worry."

"Friends?!" The girl wasn’t buying it. "They are living beings! Even worse, I can’t feel their intentions at all! They must be here to do something to us!"

"Oh, right!" Xian forgot Rean and Roan were still enveloped by his Shadow Energy, and that made it impossible for the girl to feel their intentions.

*Zil!*

Immediately, the Shadow Energy covering the twins disappeared, returning to Xian, and only then did the girl stop her attempts to escape the sphere. "This..."

In that single moment, she was able to feel the twins’ intentions, and there wasn’t even an iota of malice of any kind there. If anything, she had never felt such warmth before, especially from Rean. Roan was cold, no doubt, but he also didn’t give off bad intentions. "Not possible..."

Roan crossed his arms and leaned his back against the sphere’s black wall. He would leave it for Rean to speak.

Rean shrugged, already expecting as much. "Sorry for scaring you, little girl. I’m Rean, and this here is my brother, Roan. We were the ones who wanted to meet you."

Xian floated to Rean’s side, holding his hand. "They are nice, sister. Trust me."

The bigger Umbra approached Rean slowly, still suspicious as hell. She flew around Rean a few times, trying to notice any harmful intentions. Yet, there was truly nothing. "Could it be you hit your head when you were a kid?"

Rean’s mouth twitched. Too bad, Roan confirmed. "Yes, he absolutely did. That’s why he looks like a moron."

"You shut up!" Rean complained. "Ahem... I did not. It’s just that I don’t really have a reason to mistreat you guys. If anything, Xian helped us so much that I don’t know how to repay him for everything he did."

"Xian?" The girl got confused. "Who’s Xian?"

"I forgot about that..." Rean sighed. "It was weird to call your little brother’s attention without a name. So we asked if he could at least get himself a name we could use."

Rean and Xian then explained how Xian came up with his name, and the twins have been using it since then.

"A name..." The girl seemed interested. "Looks like a good idea. What do you think would be a good name for me? Wait, why haven’t I thought about a name before?" Seemed so obvious, and yet, that thought never passed through her mind.

Rean and Roan glanced at each other. Since the Umbras were born of the agglomeration of various emotions and memory fragments, chances were that their owners had many different names before losing them. This kind of conflict likely led them to overlook a specific name for themselves until someone else mentioned it.

"Well, Xian selected his own name, so you might as well choose one that makes you happy." Rean had his ideas. "Of course, if you wish, I can definitely think of a name for you."

The girl felt a chill run through her body, shaking her head straight away. For some reason, she had a bad feeling about whatever option Rean would come up with. "Let’s... let’s just use Hura." That name felt familiar to her, probably a name used by one of her memory fragments.

"That’s also good." Rean didn’t mind. "Well then, nice to meet you, Hura."
