Death… And Me

Chapter 3802: Prepared

Chapter 3802: Prepared

Usually, Rean would be the one playing with words, but Rean wasn’t here, so Roan had to do it, even if his acting wasn’t as good as Rean’s Oscar-deserving performances.

Kunprio narrowed his eyes, or what looked to be his eyes, in that fireball. "You have got my attention. Let’s start with the reason for the destruction of the core. Don’t take me for a fool, though. If I detect anything wrong with your story, you won’t have a second chance."

Roan nodded. "First, do you know what exists inside each of the twelve cores?"

"A system shard," Kunprio answered. "There is no need to ask those idiotic questions. I’m this Universe’s Owner, so I have been made aware of everything related to it."

Roan resumed. "Don’t blame me for asking that question. I wasn’t sure if the Werdlem Empire had truly told you what was necessary. But since you know it is a System Shard, then you must know everything indeed. That makes things easier."

"Anyway, you know that this system was corrupted by its owner back when the Werdlem Empire captured this Universe. It has been used as a testing ground for a variety of things. The problem is that not everyone back in the Werdlem Universe has access to it."

Roan coldly smiled. "Now, this part you most likely aren’t aware of. There has been some attrition between those allowed to come here to test their ’special’ things and those who aren’t."

Kunprio thought about it for a moment. The Werdlem Empire is enormous, but D33 is pretty much the only Universe in its territory with such perfect conditions of environment and test subjects. Having experts of all levels completely willing to follow through on all kinds of dark research to the point they would happily die was just not something easy to find.

Sure, you could do something like dominate their minds, like the Werdlem Empire does with those from Inquisition Halls back in Universe F956. However, such a thing required time, resources, and so on. Here in D33, you could simply start straight away by just posting in this Universe’s Network that the Light of the Provider Religion required help. It made sense that everyone with ’interesting ideas’ would want to come here.

"So what? Are you saying that because some idiots can’t get to come, they decided to get rid of the system here?" Kunprio asked, seeing where Roan was going.

"That’s part because of it, but the other part was to see if this system’s power could be copied and used somewhere else," Roan explained. Of course, he came up with all that bullshit on the spot. Kunprio still hasn’t noticed that Roan hasn’t mentioned any names. Why? Because Roan doesn’t know the names of any important figures in the Werdlem Universe to start with.

"Impossible!" Kunprio immediately countered, and the Celestial Laws of Fire and Fire Element enclosed Roan with even more intensity. "How many times has the Werdlem Empire tried to bring this system’s power somewhere else? Countless years have passed, and not even once has the Empire succeeded. Do you want me to believe your backers found a way?"

Roan still seemed to not be feeling anything with his cold expression. "What I said was that they wanted a shard to see if they could do it. I didn’t say they will be able to. And, as you can imagine, I wasn’t told about everything they are planning."

Kunprio felt the urge to finish Roan right there and then, but he controlled himself.

Roan also saw the Red Color of Killing intent, but it also disappeared right after, showing that Kunprio thought of killing him just for a moment. "You’d better be careful. I might not be a direct descendant, but I’m also part of the Werdlem Imperial Family."

Kunprio’s flames weakened a bit when he heard that. He couldn’t be certain about whether Roan was telling the truth or not. But since Roan managed to come to this Universe, bypass the Umbras at his level, and knew how to destroy the core of this Light Spreader, there was a good chance he truly had a high position. "Tell me your name. Even if you are part of the Imperial Family, the higher-ups will most likely not let this slide."

"I’m Gantun Werdlem," Roan said, a completely random name.

Roan felt quite lucky already. Just because it is called the Werdlem Empire, does it mean it has an Imperial Family? There are Empires that don’t have such things. Yet, Kunprio seemed to have hesitated after Roan said that, so Roan was likely right. As for the name, well, he just added the Werdlem at the end and waited to see if Kunprio would take the bait.

"Werdlem?" Kunprio snorted, the red color of Killing Intent now enveloping Roan. "You said it yourself, you are not a direct descendant. So how could you carry the Werdlem name? Only direct descendants are allowed to. Seems like you have been speaking bullshit all this time. Otherwise, you would never have made such an obvious mistake. No problem, now I know I can just ask your soul."

Roan mentally sighed, thinking, ’Perhaps I should have said some other random name without the Werdlem in the middle. I could have pretended to be married into the Werdlem Family or something like that. Whatever. This should be far enough.’

Roan felt the Celestial Laws and Fire Element intensity skyrocket, which would have burned his body in a few seconds. However, he didn’t mind. He simply connected to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm and...

*Zush!*

He disappeared!

Kunprio was taken aback. "How did he enter his Pocket Dimensional Realm with the seals of the corrupted system in place?" However, he quickly recovered. "Hmph! You thought I wouldn’t kill you since I couldn’t get to you in your Pocket Dimensional Realm? Too bad, you overestimate your value. I will get rid of you and your Pocket Dimensional Realm together."

Kunprio focused on the entrance of the Dimensional Realm that Roan left behind, gathering his power and intending to take it down in a single blow. Unfortunately...

"Uh?!!!" Kunprio suddenly felt more shocked than he had ever been in millions of years. "The entrance! It disappeared! How?!"

Far, far away from there, Roan exited the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm by Rean and Kentucky’s side. His body looked more like charcoal, but he didn’t give a damn at the moment. "His Divine Sense can probably get here too; we need to leave now."

"Don’t worry." Rean was ready. "Zangeshu, Tanxan, and I prepared our way out."
