Chapter 3810: Convincing
Not all members of the Light Idiots were related to the Werdlem Empire or worked for someone related to them. In fact, most of the Light Propagators and similar roles were filled by real Universe Experts, who had their minds in the same state as the rest.
Few did know this, but the higher positions of the Light of the Provider Religion could only be occupied by outsiders. That meant only those who came from outside the Universe could take those posts. Of course, pretty much no one who was truly born and raised in D33 knew about it. The few who were aware were children of those who came from outside or those who had a close relation with the outsiders.
The reason behind this was quite simple. For someone who grew up with their mind manipulated by the Banishing Light, it would be too much of a hassle for them to accept the truth. That truth being that D33 was just a big lab. They grew while thinking they were doing good as they spread the Light of the Provider. One could imagine how they felt when they were shielded against the Banishing Light and found out about it.
As such, the positions in the Light of the Provider Religion were determined in classes.
Those of Class Six and above were experts who knew the whole truth, such as Xenfal and his Class Seven Light Propagator position. As for those of Class Five and below, they were mostly real beings from D33 who truly believed in the teachings of the religion.
Of course, although you wouldn’t have anyone on Class Six and above who didn’t know the truth, you definitely had those who knew the truth on Class Five and below. They mostly occupied positions of power in their own sectors, controlling the organization on behalf of the empire.

Arriving at the Hondel Branch, Rean and the others could see hundreds of members coming and going, most of them Class Five or lower. The higher your Class, the fewer there were. Inside, Rean recognized a few from Xenfal’s memories, and there were some who even complimented him.
Rean just exchanged a few words with them, proceeding to the office where he would report back.
After a few minutes, Rean arrived at the office, which was crowded with hundreds of counters and numerous members passing by. He didn’t join the queues, though. For a Class Seven like him, there were private rooms where he could do the report directly. Sure, D33 had many more Divinity or above Experts than Lisan, but Space-Time Realm experts were still considered important.
Inside the room, Rean was received by an old man behind his desk, who didn’t pay much attention to him.
"Hello, sir. I came to report back from the Underworld, Lotiy City." Then, Rean passed his ID forward.
The man nodded slightly, taking the ID and placing it in a slot on a device on his table. Soon, a lot of information was displayed in front of him, which he checked quickly. "Seems like your stay there went smoothly. As you know, by the contract, you are allowed to do as you please as long as it is not detrimental to the Empire and D33. That includes not deviating your attention from your task during the last years there. So, have you found anything suspicious during your surveillance? Anyone similar to the young devil we are looking for?"
Rean quickly shook his head. "I had my Divine Sense spread all the time. There wasn’t a single Devil or any other expert who entered the city without me knowing. But I will say the same thing as I did in the surveillance before this one. There is just way too little information regarding our target. Just his appearance and a remnant of his aura are hard to work with. I’m sorry, but I do believe someone who managed to flee from the Universe Owner is bound to be very far from this Universe now."
The old man had heard the same thing countless times, actually. Nonetheless, the Werdlem Empire didn’t want to take any chances. "We are aware. The Universe Owner is now keeping a close eye on all the remaining Light Spreaders. In any case, we are required to continue our search for the perpetrator. Your next surveillance location has already been decided, and this time we are expanding it to the Heavens."
Just as the old man was about to give Rean the task, Rean intervened. "Just one second, sir. I would like to apply for a higher-paid location. As you probably noticed in my profile, I have just had a breakthrough into the Middle Stage of the Space-Time Realm, so I believe I deserve a better position."
The old man checked the information, and sure enough, it had been updated just a few days prior. The tasks while working for the Light Idiots were also based on level in fine detail, so a single stage made a difference. Of course, there was no such thing as a breakthrough. It’s just that Xanfel was a stage lower than the twins’ group, so Rean simply said he had a breakthrough.
"It can be arranged. Let me check here..."
"How about the core?" Rean asked seriously. "The main core experts get the best payment, and with my recent breakthrough, I’m in need of more resources to stabilize my realm."
"Hmph!" Yet, the old man snorted. "Only you? Everyone wants to be on the main core protection list. There are even Divinity Realm Experts waiting to be sent there. You are being way too greedy."
"Yes, but I’m obviously not applying for a position that a Divinity Realm expert would take," Rean added. "I want one of the Space-Time Realm positions."
"Even so, those in the Space-Time Realm are at least in the Late Stage. Anyone else other than that are common workers that help with the operation of the protection field. Now, would you want the payment of such low-level workers? It isn’t even a tenth of what you are getting now."
Rean wanted to say yes, but that in itself would be way too suspicious. After all, he just said he needed resources after his breakthrough, so why would he accept such a reduction in his payment? "I understand. Will that be okay if I convince someone of the next batch to change places with me?"
"I don’t see why anyone would want to let their slot go," the old man continued. "But if you can do so, be my guest. You have a month free anyway. Report back here when it is time for your deployment. Your next assignment is in Trintei City in the Heavens. You have until then."
"Thank you," Rean nodded and left. It was time for some convincing.
