Chapter 3817: Objective Completed
Rean moved to the chair and sat again. Rebarlo was eating something before he came out, so he took some of it for himself. "Yummy! This is pretty good! So, how will it be? Can you arrange a slot for the Great Void Black Hole?"
Rebarlo calmed down, although he didn’t like Rean’s attitude very much. But then, he took a look at the calice inside his Pocket Dimensional Realm and reassured himself. "Tell me, why would you want such a thing? That is only for Divinity Realm Experts who have reached the Peak Stage. First of all, do you even know what a Great Void Black Hole Slot is used for?"
"Yes, I’m aware," Rean nodded. "I’m also very confident I will get to that level one day."
"Hmph!" Rebarlo obviously didn’t believe it. "Do you have any idea how extremely rare it is to find Celestial Laws compatible with oneself?"
Rean raised his hand, stopping Rebarlo there. "As I told you, I’m aware of everything. Come on, I found out you are Cornel’s son. I obviously would know about all the shit necessary to reach the Celestial Realm. All of that doesn’t matter now. What matters is whether you can pay my price or not? Oh! And just like you said, you definitely don’t want to break our deal here after I have already done my part."
Seeing Rean’s confidence, Rebarlo narrowed his eyes and thought about it. "You have absolutely no idea how difficult it is to get a slot for the Great Void Black Hole. I can’t make any promises."
"No problem," Rean smiled in response. "You also won’t be able to use the calice as long as I don’t get my payment, so we are in the same boat here."
"What?!" Rebarlo quickly took a look at the calice, but there didn’t seem to be anything wrong with it. He had activated it inside his Dimensional Realm, and it seemed to be working just fine. But then again, Rean was able to fix it, so he could have made some fail mechanism too. "That is ridiculous! I truly can’t guarantee I can get it for you. It has nothing to do with me not wanting it, but that it is mostly out of my hands."
"Well, give it your best." Rean finished eating his meal and got up. "Here’s my Werdlem ID contact info. Oh, and don’t forget what you told me about using the souls that are already on the way to the reincarnation path. If you don’t want that key of yours to break apart, I honestly wouldn’t try to use the souls of the living beings. You have yourself warned."
Rebarlo saw Rean walking out of the room, and he didn’t stop him. In the end, he sighed, understanding that he had just gotten a taste of his own medicine. Since he can blackmail Rean, then why can’t Rean do the same, right? ’What comes around goes around, I guess?’
Following that, he took out his Communication Device. "Get me in contact with the Istfal Clan in C42. I have something to ask my uncle."
---
As Rean walked out of the restaurant, he felt reinvigorated. Inside the Dimensional Realm, Zangeshu and Tanxan were actually pretty surprised with the end. ’Do you think he will get the slot?’
Rean shrugged, making his way out of the city again. ’Who knows? But I did instill in him enough fear. It is pretty obvious no one knows he is in this Universe, and he also doesn’t seem to want to be found.’
’What about the calice itself?’ Zangeshu asked. ’You left a tracker inside, after all.’
’Sister Orb said it, didn’t she?’ Rean asked back. ’We only have a few days, so following Rebarlo isn’t really an option at the moment. But then again, who said that calice has to be used in this Universe? There is also the charging issue. Rebarlo will need hundreds of thousands of dead souls to fill it with enough energy. That will not happen in a short amount of time. For now, if we get a slot to use the Great Void Black Hole, that would be more than enough.’
[You do know he might actually prepare a trap for us, right?]
’Yes,’ Rean wasn’t an idiot. ’But it is worth the risk. If it doesn’t work... oh well, we can have him pay us a bunch of Rank Ten Divine Stones, and that would already be pretty good.’
Finally, Rean left the city, only to return a while later, but with Xanfel’s appearance this time.
The twins’ group didn’t do anything else after that. Roan finished his Storm Calling Pill, which was the pill that increased one’s comprehension ability towards Lightning Laws permanently. On the third day, Lembrum arrived in Lamaga City.
Things played out quite smoothly. Rean continued to play as Xanfel, and the two met in a hotel, away from prying eyes. Rean passed the pill and even asked Lembrum to take it straight away. He didn’t care if Lembrum would go back on his word. After these few days, a lot more messages arrived from the offer Sister Orb posted on the network, so even if this one went south, there would be plenty of others to try.
Lembrum was ecstatic when he felt the pill’s effects. Since Laws’ Pills that could permanently increase comprehension were more common in the Werdlem Empire, it was also a lot easier to identify if they were the real deal or not.
He turned to Rean, and he actually thought for a moment to go back on his word and keep the slot. However, he gave up that idea as it would only bring unnecessary trouble. He achieved his objective for coming to this Universe, and he would leave pretty soon.
Thus, the duty was passed to Rean, or Xenfal, for that matter. In exchange, he received Xenfal’s assignment in the Heavens. As to whether he would fulfill it or not, that wasn’t Rean’s problem anymore.
Later, Rean visited the same office and showed the old man what he got. "Here you go, the slot for the next Surveillance Team."
The old man was obviously surprised that Xenfal had convinced someone to give up their slot. He even checked it himself, calling Lembrum and confirming that Xenfal had gotten it fair and square. "Well, I’ll be damned. You truly managed to find someone. You must have promised some big shit to that guy to get his slot from him."
Rean smiled. "You could say so. Still, it is worth it. Not only do I want more resources, but there is something in the reward list I want very much. I will have to spend a very long time there, though."
The old man quickly concluded the procedures, passing Xenfal’s ID back to Rean. "You and 99% of those taking this task are there for the same reasons. Anyway, things are arranged now. Meet the next group at the Providers’ Path in 23 days."
"Got it!" And so, the twins’ group achieved their objective and were finally going to pay a visit to the galaxy where the Corrupted System Core was located.
