Death… And Me

Chapter 3846: You Heard Nothing

Chapter 3846: You Heard Nothing

"Oh, don’t worry," the guy nodded. "You broke no rules whatsoever. You have the authority to be in this area, so no one can accuse you of anything. It’s just that we are in the middle of the war to recover D33, and then someone like you coming to the central area seemed unusual."

"By the way, I’m Zotaku, the one in charge of the security here," Zotaku continued. "If it doesn’t bother you, would you mind telling us what you are doing here? I checked on you, and your battalion just suffered a significant loss, with half of it wiped out, right? Is this loss connected to the reason you are here? Of course, you don’t need to tell us if you don’t wish to. It’s just that we might have to ask you to go back for safety purposes."

Rean shook his head in response. "There is nothing to hide, really. I came here because I heard that Senior Dlotter is not the one in command anymore. I guess it was that Werdlem Universe Expert, so I thought that since I need some time to recover, perhaps I could see the guy himself. Believe it or not, I’ve never seen anyone from the Werdlem Universe."

According to Yemmel’s memories, Dlotter was a Semi-Celestial who was supposed to be the captain of this spaceship. Of course, with the Werdlem Empire expert here, the man called Dlotter is no longer in charge.

Rean noticed Zotaku had a peculiar expression. "Yes, go ahead, say it. That is a pretty idiotic reason to come here. I’m aware. You can laugh if you want."

"Ahem..." Zotaku coughed a little. "That’s not all that ridiculous... I mean, it was also my first time seeing one when he took charge of the bridge. Most of us were like this. But I might as well tell you now. There isn’t really anything different compared to us and him. Just like Senior Dlotter, he is a Semi-Celestial, but that’s about it. He goes by the name of Kuruhei Garnil."

"Kuruhei Garnil?!" Rean looked shocked to hear that. "Are you sure his name is Kuruhei Garnil?!"𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Zotaku and the others looked puzzled. "Well, obviously... We had to add him to the system of the ship, after all. What’s so impressive about his name?"

"No, no, no..." Rean’s expression turned even worse. "It has to be someone else. It must be!"

But then, Rean looked back at Zotaku. "Senior Zotaku, please bring me to him! I must confirm something!"

"Now, let’s calm down a little, shall we?" Obviously, Zotaku wouldn’t simply do as Rean asked. "What is so important that you must see Kuruhei? He is not the kind of person you would usually be granted a chance to talk to, you know? He is pretty arrogant, too."

"Oh, right..." Rean shook his head, turning around and preparing to leave. "Forget it. I’ve spoken too much. There is no way this Kuruhei is the same one I know. Sorry for bothering you, senior Zotaku. I’m going back to my sector."

Zotaku and his companions looked at each other. That was a bizarre response. Rean... or Yemmel... obviously met someone with the same name before, and it has to be a coincidence, right?

Too bad, though. As part of the security, they were obligated to check anything suspicious, and Rean’s reaction just now was as suspicious as you could get.

"Now, wait a minute." Zotaku quickly made the decision. "Is it something you can’t talk about?"

Rean scratched the back of his head, but he was smiling inwardly. "Indeed. That’s why it is better if we pretend nothing happened. I don’t know anyone called Kuruhei Garnil, and you absolutely didn’t hear me saying anything like that."

Yet, Zotaku stopped Rean. "I told you to wait, didn’t I?" With a much higher cultivation and obviously authority, Zotaku didn’t like Rean’s attitude very much. "Stay put and let me check something."

"Oh... okay," Rean nodded, not moving at all.

---

The bridge of that spaceship was obviously enormous as well. Several thousand experts worked on many more screens, combing through an endless stream of information that arrived every second. At the center, there was an elevated platform and a big seat on it.

Seated on it was a man with white attire and a bored expression. He was the Werdlem Universe Expert, Kuruhei Garnil.

Standing on his side was another expert with the same Semi-Celestial Realm Cultivation as Kuruhei, Dlotter. Normally, that seat was reserved for him. But because of the arrival of the Werdlem Empire’s Expert, Dlotter had to give his seat away, even if he didn’t like it very much. Of course, he didn’t let it show on his face.

"Hum?" Suddenly, Dlotter received a message, recognizing the sender. "Zotaku? What does he want?"

Opening the message, he saw the weird circumstance Zotaku found himself in at the moment. He turned in Kuruhei’s direction, wondering how someone like Rean... or Yemmel... knew someone like Kuruhei. "It must be a coincidence..." And sure enough, he thought the same thing as everyone else.

Still, it wasn’t his call, and since Zotaku, the leader of the security team, was directly involved, he thought it was at least worth passing over the information. "Friend Kuruhei."

Kuruhei opened his eyes, glancing at Dlotter from above. It was pretty obvious that even though the two had the same cultivation, Kuruhei thought little of Dlotter and everyone else on this ship. "What is it?"

Dlotter’s mouth twitched a little. Kuruhei truly didn’t even try to hide his disdain. Still, Dlotter forced himself to stay calm. "We have a small situation..." Then, he explained everything to Kuruhei.

"Hmph!" As one could expect, Kuruhei didn’t even bother checking. "As if I would know an ant from such a low-raked Universe. I won’t even remember you guys anymore after we are done here. Get rid of this guy already."

Dlotter nodded and was going to pass the order...

But then, Kuruhei stopped him. "No, wait." A smile appeared on his face. "Bring him over."

"Eh?" Dlotter was surprised to hear that. "Ri-Right! I’ll pass over your orders."

Around thirty minutes later, one of the doors to the bridge opened, and Zotaku entered, bringing Rean with him.
