Death… And Me

Chapter 3857: Would He Really Get It?

Chapter 3857: Would He Really Get It?

Turns out Roan’s plan didn’t really go as intended. Roan was expecting the Wengel Tribe to come out and assess the talents of its prisoners at some point. And yet, it never happened, and it was the slave traders who actually did it first.

It wasn’t a big deal, of course. The point was that they had to be seen as slaves and then taken in. If anything, this trader seemed to live in Enrel City, which was even better. They would be registered under his name, and the twins had no issues with that.

---

Donfug couldn’t wait until reaching the city, though. Halfway there, he came out of his vehicle and went to check the twins’ group.

"How are they, Cuvei?" He asked his subordinate, the same one who knew about the twins’ group’s talent levels.

Cuvei nodded. "They haven’t spoken anything, but I gave them proper food and transferred them to a clean chamber instead of keeping them in the cage. Well, they are all kids, so I guess it makes sense they are this quiet. I wouldn’t be speaking much if I had seen my tribe friends being killed and then taken away by the enemy."

Donfug entered the transport vehicle and a chamber inside. There, he noticed that the Demon Bird and the Jelly Pet were still present. "Why did you keep the Demon Beas-"

Yet, before he finished his words, his mind suddenly changed, and he nodded, satisfied. "Right, you kept those two to comfort the kids. The bird and the jelly must be their pets. Good call, Cuvei. Make sure they are kept with them all the time."

Cuvei was happy to hear that. "Thank you, sir."

Little did they notice, but both of them intended to separate Kentucky and Tanxan from the twins’ group. However, Rean used his Soul Power to change their minds without them noticing.

Rean couldn’t really control them, but he could make them more inclined to make choices that benefited his group, like keeping Kentucky and Tanxan around. For Donfug and the others, it was as if they had reached that conclusion themselves.

"Hello there!" Donfug approached the group. "I’m Donfug, your new... errr... friend..."

Rean and the others snorted, but they didn’t show it on their faces. Instead, they all looked at Rean, as if indicating that Rean was the one Donfug should talk to. "He-Hello, sir. Ar-Are we going t-to die?"

Donfug quickly shook his head. "Absolutely not! How could I kill a bunch of kids? However, I can’t just let you go since I paid a lot for you. You see, I checked it out, and it seems like you are a very talented bunch. Could you tell me what life was like back at your tribe? What happened to your parents?"

Everyone once again looked at Rean, who nodded and continued. "We don’t really have parents. It was the tribe leader who raised us since we could remember, but he never let us leave the confines of the center of the tribe, saying that the world outside was too dangerous. We often received training there. Still, this is actually the first time we are seeing the outside world."

’As I thought!’ Donfug felt satisfied. ’They were really one of those tribe’s future secret weapons. Yet, they never expected the Wengel Tribe would attack and even capture these kids. I’m truly fortunate!’

Of course, Donfug didn’t say those words. "Is that so? That must be because they cared a lot about you. However, I don’t intend to keep you confined in a single residence. I can show you the world and provide proper training. Have you heard about cultivators?"

"Yes," Rean and the others nodded. "The tribe leader told us a lot about them and even showed his powers many times. We were all training to become cultivators in the future. It was amazing!"

"Exactly!" Donfug was more and more excited. "So, how about this? Would you like to continue your training and become cultivators?"

"C-Can we? T-Truly?" Rean asked back as everyone’s eyes shone.

"Absolutely!" Donfug continued. "But I need you to do something for me as well."

Following that, Donfug took out five weird-looking papers. No, they weren’t just papers; those were Soul Binding Contracts!

’And here it is,’ Roan commented through Divine Sense. ’Took him long enough.’

"Since you know about cultivators, you should also know that they need something called Divine Werldem Stones, right? I’m going to give each of you a Divine Werdlem Stone, and in exchange, I want you all to sign this for me," Donfug explained.

"Okay!" Rean and the others quickly answered. "But, senior," Rean continued, "can little Kentucky and Tanxan get one too?"

"Little Kentucky and Tanxan?" Donfug looked at the Demon Bird and Jelly. Rean was obviously talking about them. Yet, just as he was about to refuse, Rean’s soul power reached him once again, and he smiled. "Of course! If that makes you happy, they can get one each, too. You can all become cultivatos together."

"Thank you, senior! We will sign everything, right, everyone?!" Rean spoke like a child who just got a new toy, and everyone looked excited... except for Roan. It was fine. Rean positioned himself in front of Roan so Donfug wouldn’t notice Roan’s poker face.

Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky didn’t really need to do anything since the system would protect their souls. As for Tanxan, Zangeshu, and Foliana, they were all in the Space-Time Realm, so those simple contracts couldn’t really bind them. Those three would allow the contract to work intentionally, but they could cut the contract’s effects at any time they felt like it.

Donfug was over the moon, and he quickly pulled out seven Divine Werdlem Stones from his Spatial Ring. He was only a Soul Transformation Realm Expert, so he obviously didn’t have a Pocket Dimensional Realm for himself.

Then, he passed the stones to the twins’ group, explained how they worked, and waited for them to absorb the stones while he watched. Too bad, though. What he was seeing was nothing but an illusion created by Rean’s manipulation of light. It looked like they went through the process of receiving those new stones, attaching them near the location of the dantians and cores, but no such thing really happened. They simply sent those stones straight into the Dimensional Realm.

"Good!" Donfug was satisfied. "Now, sign one each."

The contract was pretty straightforward. They must obey all of Donfug’s orders without question and never betray him. Donfug didn’t have any intention of selling the twins’ group as slaves. Instead, he wanted all of them for himself... but would he really get it? Roan had other plans.

The contracts burned, and they entered everyone’s forehead. From there onwards, they were Donfug’s direct ’subordinates,’ and each of them received a communication device to be registered in the Werdlem System as such.
