Death… And Me

Chapter 4006: An Instant

Chapter 4006: An Instant

She could ask questions later. For now, she had to take care of the battlefield. Her Divine Sense was still spread, which she used to deliver a message to everyone from her Qufis Alliance. ’Stop all pursuit! Immediately return to the Protection Formation!’

Xube, one of her subordinates, was nearby when he heard that and couldn’t help but ask. "Why are we stopping, Senior Zonhime? If we press forward, we could take quite a few more down. They won’t bother us again after that."

Zonhime shook her head in response. "If it were safe to do so, I wouldn’t have stopped everyone. Unfortunately, the situation doesn’t allow us to do so."

Roan’s Elemental Intent Spear disappeared, nodding slightly. "So you noticed."

Zonhime confirmed, although she was surprised Roan did too. "Yes."

Seeing Xube and the others’ confusion, she explained. "Plovel and Zadgjor weren’t the only ones here. There are various eyes watching the development of this battle."

She was right. Since she was in the Divinity Realm, she could also feel Divine Senses from experts at the same level. And they weren’t the only ones. There were a few Space-Time Realm Divine Senses that were not part of the experts who took part in the battle.

Everyone returned to the protection formation, and the support and slaughtering formations were turned off. They, too, were a big reason for Qufis’s victory, but would spend a lot of resources if kept ON nonstop.

"Keep your eyes open," Zonhime told everyone. "It wouldn’t be surprising at all if someone else decides to attack us after what just happened, expecting us to be spent. Recover as fast as you can. If you are too injured, I have some healing pills I can provide."

Zonhime was truly a good leader, making sure everything was working fine. Whether it was due to loyalty to Qufis or because of some other reason, no one knew.

Still, Zonhime glanced at the twins’ group, who had already begun to cultivate again. It was as if they didn’t even care about the last battle, and they managed to kill two Divinities!

’Zonhime,’ Roney had his doubts, too. ’What do you know about them?’

Zonhime looked at Roney, refusing to explain. ’Just be happy they are on our side.’

Roney understood the message. Anyone could tell that he and quite a few of the experts here intended to flee earlier if Rean and Roan hadn’t acted. Even if Zonhime knew something, she definitely wouldn’t talk about it now. ’So be it...’

Of course, the truth was that she didn’t know anything, so she decided to ask them with her Divine Sense. ’Juvenal, are you truly someone from the Runia Continent?’

Roan looked in her direction. ’All I can tell you is that we are under direct command of Principal Ximao from the Divine Military Academy. You can try to investigate us, but you won’t find anything since only Ximao and some select individuals even know we exist. As to whether you believe it or not, that’s up to you.’

Zonhime narrowed her eyes. She did indeed intend to have the Qufis Alliance send someone to investigate the twins’ group origin. Well, Rean and Roan’s appearances were different, so she didn’t know they were twins. They truly hid all the abilities they usually use, and even used other weapons. Any investigation would be meaningless since they don’t actually exist.

’Forget it,’ Zonhime said. ’I’ll just tell the Qufis alliance what you told me, that they most likely won’t find anything. Leaving that aside, I have one doubt. How did you and your friend ambush Grofou and Wisten earlier? You destroyed their Dantian and Core so easily that they didn’t notice until it was already over.’

It actually wasn’t all that hard. The Qufis Alliance had prepared several support formations around their settlement. Rean had Sister Orb hack into them and manipulate those formations, especially the concealment and anti-Divine Sense ones. They used Rean’s Light Bending Skill to disappear and the formations to prevent the enemy from noticing their Spatial Disturbances due to their cultivations.

As for the puppets, they were even better. Since there were Anti-Divine Sense Formations in place, the enemies outside couldn’t really tell if Rean and Roan were real. Why puppets? Because the clones would use Light and Dark Element, and Rean and Roan were pretending to use Fire and Water Element instead. The twins simply swapped themselves with those cheap puppets and came out of the formation without anyone noticing.

The last thing was actually about speed. When the Divinity Realm Experts from Plovel and Zadgjor approached the formations from Qufis, they stopped just outside their range. So, Rean and Roan approached the end of the formations’ range, and from there, they simply used a burst of speed with their real skills while concealed.

For an instant, so short no one noticed happening, they displayed a speed that most Peak Stage Divinity Realm Experts couldn’t even dream of achieving. That’s how it looked like they appeared out of nowhere. They were simply close enough to make it appear that way. No one would expect this place to have experts with speed and strength similar to or even higher than Peak Stage Divinity Realm Experts, after all.

Of course, Roan coldly smiled, having no intention to tell her everything. ’Do you really think we would reveal our cards? Other than the obvious puppets we used, the rest is up to your imagination. Don’t forget we are only working together because it benefits both sides. We aren’t members of Qufis. Don’t worry, though. We intend to see this exchange through the end... as long as we aren’t forced to flee.’

Zonhime understood. Qufis was a multicontinental alliance, but they were far from being among the strongest ones. Take the Riquicious Empire, for example. If, for some reason, they decide to attack, the only thing Qufis can do is run away and abandon everything.

Of course, the Riquicious Empire wasn’t the only top power. They had their own challenges, like the Von-Hais Alliance, so it was very unlikely they would pay attention to a small group like Qufis. Not to mention, Qufis was really far away from Riquicious and other top powers, so there wasn’t a reason for them to antagonize each other.

’Very well,’ Zonhime didn’t insist. ’Still, you will be rewarded for your efforts. Also, I might tell you ahead of time. I have no doubt our Qufis Alliance will try to pull you away from the Runia Continent and its Divine Military Academy. They will make a big offer, and I think you should accept it. Qufis is in a much better position to help you in your cultivation path than a small continent like Runia, that’s for sure.’

Roan didn’t give her a definitive answer. ’We will think about it.’
