Death… And Me

Chapter 4038: The Picture

Chapter 4038: The Picture

Rean and Kentucky looked at each other. If they said they got it from Vuccu, that wouldn’t make much sense. After all, Vuccu gave his cards to Zende and company, which, in the eyes of the Riquicious Empire, were not Rean and Kentucky. Also, as far as the Riquicious Empire knows, those guys bound their cards, so these ones can’t be those from the past.

Rean smiled, answering. "That I can not say, friend. But we earned them legitimately."

Mira quickly rectified herself. "Sorry, sir. If I looked like I was accusing you and your friend, know that it was absolutely not my intention."

Riquicious had its own Peak Stage Divinity Realm Experts. If counting those not in the Peak Stage, they actually have even more. Nonetheless, that didn’t mean you would buy a fight against other Divinities for no reason, especially two at the Peak Stage.

"I’ve checked your IDs, and you seem to be part of Runia. Is that accurate?" Mira asked.

"Not entirely," Kentucky corrected. "We were part of their continent, but we separated a long time ago. We still have an agreement where we will help them if necessary, but that’s about it. That shouldn’t be much of a secret, if you investigate it deeply."

"I see..." Mira nodded. "Then, sirs, just one last question. It is really tough to acquire these kinds of cards in this region of the Divine Realm. Please, don’t take my following words as me trying to be rude. For you to have one card each, you either bought them at an absolutely ridiculous price or impressed someone from the Tombassin Sect or someone closely related to them. I highly doubt you could pay for these cards, so it only leaves the second option."

Rean and Kentucky nodded. "Alright, keep going."

Mira did as asked. "Since the second method is the one you likely took, we believe you at least managed to absorb your own Celestial Laws. That means you could even try to enter the Celestial Realm if you could get close to the Great Void Black Holes."

"Your riquicious empire has quite a few very quick-thinking individuals, doesn’t it?" Rean smiled. He wasn’t that surprised, as the presence of those cards would sooner or later lead outsiders to reach that conclusion. "You are correct. We did indeed manage to absorb our necessary Celestial Laws. We are going to the central region to take the next step and see if we can get close to a Great Void Black Hole. Likely, it will lead to a contract of some sort."

"As expected," Mira was relieved. She was afraid they would try to hide that fact ot that they simply would refuse to answer. "This brings us to the reason for our approach. Since seniors are going to the Central Region with your cards, would you mind helping our princess?"

Now, Rean and Kentucky got confused. "That’s a weird request. Why would you ask us such a thing? Your Riquicious Empire must have quite a few Peak Stage Divinities, too. As you know, before we can reach the Celestial Realm, we are pretty much the same as other Peak Divinities. It doesn’t make sense."

"There is a great difference here," Mira explained. "First of all, without those cards, we can’t get permission to go to the central region."

"Oh..." Rean understood. "So, basically, you want to use the fact that we have our cards to bring extra people with us legally."

"That is one reason," Mira continued. "The second is the fact that you have absorbed your Celestial Laws already."

Seeing Rean and Kentucky’s confusion, Mira explained better. "There is a huge difference in treatment when it comes to holders of cards. I won’t lie, our Riquicious Empire gets two of these cards every fifty thousand years. It is a payment for the help we give them with the Future Realm. Yet, it is very rare for even a single one of our experts to find their own Celestial Laws. So, even though we have the cards, those holding them wouldn’t be considered much compared to other holders."

"That is strange," Rean cut in. "I see what you want. You are asking for our help because we have absorbed our Celestial Laws, so we have a higher position in the hierarchy of those with these cards. However, it doesn’t mean much at the moment either. The next Tombassin Recruitment will only start 48000 years from now. Why would you want us to cover for your princess if we are so far away from the recruitment start? We don’t even know which continent it will happen on."

Kentucky also added his piece. "Not to mention, why should we help you at all?"

"Yes, we are aware." Mira knew that. "However, our intentions are not regarding the recruitment to the Tombassin Sect. We... have other plans in mind, and having card holders, who have absorbed their Celestial Laws, will be of great help."

Neither Kentucky nor Rean enjoyed that conversation. "I don’t like where this is going. What are you planning to do?"

"This..." That was the complicated part for Mira. She wasn’t allowed to talk about that yet. In fact, she was just trying to buy some time without lying or revealing the real reasons. Someone else wanted to do that instead.

At that moment, a man flashed into the Formations Guild building, going straight to where the Rean and Kentucky were waiting.

*Zush!*

He appeared in the room, and Mira felt relieved. "Fortunately, you got here in time."

Rean and Kentucky looked at that man. They knew him, as he was present during the announcement of the Future Realm all those years ago. He was a member of the Riquicious Imperial Family, someone blood-related to them, likely very high in the hierarchy. "I believe your name was Emmanuel Riquicious?" Rean sked.

Emmanuel also sighed in relief, nodding at them. "Yes, friends Rean and Kentucky. When I received information about your presence and the fact that you had the cards, I flew here as fast as I could." He looked at Mira right after. "Have you told them?"

"As requested, just what I was allowed to," Mira said.

Emmanuel stepped forward, taking from there. "Good. Let me tell the rest. Rean, Kentucky. Our Riquicious Imperial Family is preparing to take the next step towards the Central Area of the Divine Realm."

Rean and Kentucky participated in such a thing before. Back in the Realm of Gods, one of the continents in the central area was opened. It had no ruler due to some circumstances, and the powers from the central region were allowing a new power from outside to take over that continent. The twins’ contribution turned out to be the main factor in their backers’ eventual win of that continent. Of course, that was a long time ago, in the Lisan Universe.

"Are you perhaps fighting a war for one of the continents of the central area?" Rean asked, wondering if it was the same thing.

"Fighting a war? Absolutely not!" Emmanuel shook his head vigorously. "We aren’t anywhere near as powerful enough to attempt such a ridiculous overtake. No, we are trying to have a marriage, which would turn our Riquicious Imperial Family into a direct vassal of the Zentian Empire. Don’t look down on this vassal status. Compared to any power in this region of the Divine Realm, it would make us look like supreme gods."

Well, that was a lot different from what Rean and Kentucky expected. "So that’s what you mean by taking the next step."

They still had no interest in such a thing. "Anyway, friend. We aren’t getting involved, sorry."

"We thought you would say that," Emmanuel said.

Truth be told, he never expected to find Divinities with their own absorbed Celestial Laws in this place. It’s not that there aren’t any, but that the others he knows about are from powers with similar strength to Riquicious, like the Von-Haiz.

Riquicious had one of those too... In fact, they had two. However, neither of them is in Riquicious at the moment. It would be weird if they were, as those who manage to absorb their Celestial Laws would be out there, looking for ways to get to a Great Void Black Hole.

Emmanuel didn’t hide it, telling Rean everything. "So you see? Neither of them is here at the moment. We can’t even get in contact with them. They isolated themselves, which you will find out to be a very common thing among those who manage to absorb their Celestial Laws. I mean, you did the same, getting away from Runia, didn’t you?"

"That’s true... But I still don’t see why we should get involved," Kentucky commented.

"Because if our guys were here, they definitely wouldn’t lose this opportunity," Emmanuel continued. "Zentian Empire can get you in contact with a backer from the Werdlem Universe. Simply put, it is a bridge capable of crossing you to BH1 without signing any contracts!!!"

Rean and Kentucky had to hold back their urge to laugh. Alright, yes, anyone else in their cultivation position would be very interested in a chance to get to the Werdlem Universe and use BH1. That was especially so if no contracts were involved. There would be no attachments, after all. They, however, would not go to BH1. Instead, they are going to BH3! Truly, Emmanuel couldn’t have found someone more disinterested than them.

"Please, help us," Emmanuel insisted. "And we will make sure we can get you in contact with Zentian’s backer in the Werdlem Universe to get you there."

Rean was about to refuse.

"Here, look!" Then, Emmanuel showed the information on his CD. "These are the various other empires taking part in this. They all, including us, want to fight for the hand of their prince. We are sending our own princess to join the selection."

"We both have a lot to gain if she succeeds. Otherwise, you two will have to try to sign a contract with some of the powers of A1 who have backers in the Werdlem Universe. Believe me, those contracts to get to the Werdlem Universe are pretty bad. They will put you into thousands of years of service or ask for absurd payments."

Rean and Kentucky felt even more disinterested. Once again, they are not going to BH1.

But then, Rean’s eyes stopped as he looked through the information. To be more specific, his eyes stopped on a certain ’princess’ from another Empire, trying the same thing as Riquicious and many others.

At the same time, Roan’s voice echoed in his head. ’Is that...’

’It has to be, right?’ Rean also noticed the same thing.

The picture of that princess... She looked exactly like Havira in her humanoid form!
