Death… And Me

Chapter 4053: That’s More Like It!

Chapter 4053: That’s More Like It!

All the holographic projections, whose numbers were already less than half of what they had been at the start, changed. They showed a broader field of view. Specifically, they showed the experts and the barrier that separated them from their opponents.

"Turn off the barriers!" Zanbril ordered.

Immediately, the barriers disappeared, and everyone was able to see who their opponents would be. The projections that showed two experts in the same field changed into a single one, now taking an even wider view. The spectators could even select specific ones to watch on their CDs, and watch the experts’ point of view as well if they wished.

Rean looked at Kentucky’s images and shrugged. ’Sure enough, it is a Semi-Celestial. Well, that was to be expected, since the vast majority of the Divinities decided to give the middle finger to their princesses and came out.’

Kentucky’s eyes were shining. ’Back in the Lisan Universe, I was only in the Late Stage, and I didn’t have everything I have now. Let’s see how well I can fare here.’

Zanbril smiled. "You can start anytime you want!"

Kentucky’s opponent was a Semi-Celestial named Drukovich, an expert from one of the humanoid races. "Well, am I not a lucky guy? I don’t know who gave up, but I’m pretty sure most of the Divinities did. Yet, lo and behold, I got one of the very few idiots who decided to stay. Hey, kid. If you don’t move, I can make it fast."

Kentucky laughed in response. "Hahaha! Aren’t you a little too overconfident? You are a Semi-Celestial, which basically means you are also a Peak Stage Divinity Realm cultivator. If you want to beat me, you will have to use your Celestial Laws by force, but that also means you will forget your own comprehension of normal laws the longer you keep using the Celestial Laws. Are you willing to do that right now, in the very first battle?"

Drukovich narrowed his eyes. Obviously, he didn’t want to use his Celestial Laws since he was a Semi-Celestial. He can comprehend the laws again later, but that will require time, probably decades, hundreds, or even thousands of years, depending on how much he forced the use of Celestial Laws. It is not something he can do right after this battle against Kentucky is over. "Hmph! And who said I need Celestial Laws to beat you?"

Kentucky smiled in response.

’Life Style, Enhancement!’

At that moment, Kentucky’s body flashed by at incredible speed. They were in the air, and for Kentucky now, no one can hope to be faster than him in the Divinity Realm while flying.

A tiny fraction of a second later, Kentucky’s voice came from behind Drukovich. "Oh, believe me, you have no hope of winning without the Celestial Laws."

’Divine Bird Strike!’

Kentucky’s claws were already centimeters away from Drukovich’s back.

*Puff!*

Yet, even though Kentucky’s attack should have torn Drukovich’s body apart, it didn’t. Instead, Drukovich’s body also disappeared. It was like an afterimage, but somehow different.

Kentucky looked at his talons, seeing there was a little bit of blood there. Then, he looked at another location just a few hundred meters away. "Those are some weird laws you have there. You did not dodge me because of speed, but something else. That was interesting."

Drukovick’s body had a few quite deep wounds, showing that although he escaped Kentucky’s attack, he wasn’t fast enough to avoid the injuries. In fact, speed was not the reason Drukovich escaped Kentucky’s attack. Instead, it was his unconventional affinity, the echo and its laws.

Just now, in the moment he was about to be torn apart, he used his affinity and laws to change places with an echo of himself. That echo was nothing but an imperceptible sound created with his Divine Energy. It only materialized into something when used with his affinity and laws. Drukovich had released that sound from the very moment he saw Kentucky, and his intention was to take Kentucky by surprise with it.

Well, he succeeded in one thing. Kentucky was definitely surprised with those laws, laws that he had never seen before. He didn’t even understand how Drukovich did that, not that it mattered much.

"You call me weird? What was that just now? How did you suddenly appear behind me so fast? Were those your laws too?" Drukovich asked, although he was just trying to buy time. Kentucky’s attack still landed, which meant Kentucky’s Laws of Darkness and Dark Element were creating havoc inside Drukovich’s body!

Kentucky knew what Drukovich was doing, but he played along. "I did use my laws, no doubt. As a Minokawa, I have both Light and Dark Element affinities, so I obviously had to comprehend both laws. That is no secret to anyone who knows my race. The laws and element I used to attack you with were the darkness. There was no Light Element involved with the attack itself. I only used Light Element and Laws to increase my speed, so yeah, that was pure speed. Well, I’m also good with spatial powers, so there was that too."

That wasn’t a lie. Kentucky did use Rean’s enhancement skill, the usual Light Element one. There was also Time Acceleration, but when it comes to time power, no one in the twins’ group had any advantage over other experts at this level. Thus, Kentucky and Drukovich’s Time Powers basically canceled each other out.

Still, Kentucky hasn’t used his Sky Energy, nor has he used his Feather Blade Intent. His Domain still hasn’t been deployed either. So far, it was all the usual Divine Origin Energy, Elements, and Laws alone. Looking back, you could see why Hick said that there was probably no one in the Divinity Realm capable of facing the twins’ group anymore.

Back in the main hall, many battles were happening on the projections. Rean, Hoblio, Xixie, and Derfiu were obviously paying attention to Kentucky’s.

Xixie’s group was shocked to hear Kentucky saying it was just pure speed. How could he be so much faster than Drukovich? Even they almost failed to follow his movements, and they had selected Kentucky’s point of view to see the combat!

Rean, however, sighed. "See? I told you he was there to have fun. Had he not held back just now, the fight would have been over in that first attack. He was obviously quite slow."

They all looked at Rean at the same time. Obviously? What exactly was obvious there?! They couldn’t see anything obvious! "You’re kidding, right?"

Rean just smiled. Rean wasn’t looking at them, but at the projection instead. He also noticed Kentucky was giving Drukovich a chance to recover on purpose. No doubt Kentucky wanted Drukovich to use his Celestial Laws. ’It is a good test indeed.’

Back in the fighting zone, Drukovich finally managed to drive away Kentucky’s Dark Element and Laws. One thing became very clear to him. If he doesn’t force the Celestial Laws to come down, he will not survive the next attack. "You are incredible, so I won’t hold back anymore. I’m Drukovich Frukosis. As a sign of respect for forcing me to show my hand, I’ll let you know this: My laws and affinity are the echo!"

Then, he started.

’Rebounding Echo Domain!’

At that moment, the Celestial Laws inside Kentucky’s soul stirred, and he smiled. "That’s more like it!"
