Death… And Me

Chapter 4056: I Can Tell It

Chapter 4056: I Can Tell It

Xixie and her brothers looked at Kentucky as if they were seeing a ghost! He won! He truly won against a Semi-Celestial! And it wasn’t even because he used some underhanded method. He truly won in a head-on battle while Drukovich gave his all!

"Kentucky, you..." Xixie didn’t know what to say, but she didn’t have the chance to.

Instead, Rean spoke on the side. "You got quite a few eyes on you now. Most of the spectators didn’t pay attention to your battle, but a few noticed that a Divinity just beat a Semi-Celestial."

Kentucky gave him a nod. "That was the idea, right? This was a good opportunity to make a good impression. Besides, it is not like I did something impossible. Semi-Celestials, for better or for worse, are still Divinities."

"Well, that’s true. Roan definitely can’t complain." Rean agreed with him. They had to show they were top geniuses while this chance lasted. Later on, if they look too strong, people will remember their actions up to that point. Investigations would lead to all their accomplishments on their way to the top.

*pah, pah!*

Suddenly, Hoblio patted Kentucky’s shoulders, tears welling in his eyes. "Thank you! Thank you! If not for you, Xixie would have died. You could have totally abandoned her, but you didn’t, and you even won. This debt, I will never forget."

"Oh..." Kentucky looked at Rean. "Didn’t you tell them?"

Rean shrugged. "That you had no intention of helping then. Instead, you were there to have fun? Yeah, I told them, and made it very clear."

Hoblio shook his head in response. "Whatever the reason might have been, it is still because of you that Xixie survived. I will never forget that."

"It is good you think that way. Just consider yourself lucky that The Great Kentucky was here to save the day! Hahaha!" Sure enough, Kentucky was full of himself.

"But..." Xixie couldn’t help but ask. "How did you know where he was going to appear?"

"Right!" Hoblio was just as confused. "He said he was using echo laws, didn’t he? Uncommon affinities aren’t rare, but it was still the first time I saw that one. Had you fought someone like that before?"

Kentucky obviously hadn’t. "No. It took me a while to figure out how he was doing that. Turns out that when he starts to change positions, the Divine Energy of the echo where he intended to appear begins to stir. It was very hard to notice as this stir is almost imperceptible, and there were too many points of Divine Energy Sounds flying everywhere, mixed with his laws. Yet, once you grasp the difference, you just need to go after it."

Hoblio sighed. "That is easy for you to say. The speed you showed... I would never be able to reach that. Not only me, but pretty much all Divinities would be powerless, even if they knew the trick behind it. We would need to think of something else to make up for it."

Rean smiled. "Don’t worry. If it is in the air, I doubt there are many Divinities out there who can match Kentucky’s speed. You are not alone. Even I can only show about 90 to 95% of Kentucky’s speed in those conditions."

Hoblio’s mouth twitched. 90 to 95%? He would be grateful if he could show even 40%! The speed Kentucky showed wasn’t something Hoblio thought possible for Divinities. Well, Hoblio still didn’t know that the speed Kentucky showed wasn’t his limit. Rean could have reached the same speed Kentucky used in that battle with ease.

There was some time before the next event since many battles were still ongoing. Xixie and Hoblio talked to Rean and Kentucky, obviously asking about how Kentucky became that strong. The Instant Recovery Skill was also questioned, and Kentucky told them that Rean created it and was much better at it than Kentucky was.

Meanwhile, Derfiu looked from the outside, finding it hard to say something.

Xixie noticed that, coming forward to grab his hand. "Brother..."

Hoblio didn’t like that. "Xixie, let go of him."

Xixie refused, though. "If you blame our brother for giving up on me, then you must blame me first for making that decision for him. He was within his rights to do so, and I approve of his decision. I think I would have done the same."

Hoblio glared at Derfiu. If it were him, Hoblio would absolutely have stayed, but Derfiu didn’t, and that was too much for Hoblio to forget that soon.

Kentucky and Rean looked at each other. Those siblings’ relationship was quite complicated. Still, they refrained from asking anything, even though there was definitely something happening behind the curtains.

Derfiu sighed, taking his hand away. "I’ll watch from the sides. If you fail, I’ll help you with the resources necessary to recover your cultivation." Then, he blended into the crowd of spectators. Of course, they could easily see where he was with their Divine Senses, as Derfiu wasn’t trying to hide. Nonetheless, Xixie and Hoblio didn’t go after him.

Xixie took a deep breath, using her divine sense to feel her cultivation. "I guess I still paid for the decision I made."

Hoblio patted her head. "I’ll help you recover it."

"Hoblio, you know that chance might not even come," to which Xixie doubted would happen.

Hoblio narrowed his eyes, but didn’t comment on the reason for that. "It is not over yet. With Kentucky’s victory, you are still in the fight."

Rean and Kentucky looked at Zanbril, who was also watching the various fights. Yet, Zanbril seemed quite bored, and they knew why. The battles weren’t the main point here.

Sure, the advisors’ strengths were important. It’s just that Zanbril had access to experts of that caliber whenever he wanted. He could even call upon the Celestials that work for his Zentian Empire if necessary.

The main point was the princesses and their relations with their advisors. He now saw which of the princesses had advisors willing to fight for them, regardless of the reason. The battles would simply root out the weaker ones. Even Kentucky’s reason for fighting for Xixie was valid in Zanbril’s eyes, as he would see it as luck and good karma.

Zanbril seemed to notice Rean and Kentucky’s gaze, his eyes turning in their direction before a Divine Sense Message arrived. ’A Divinity winning against a Semi-Celestial isn’t that hard to happen. Various situations could lead to that outcome. Compatibility of abilities, ambushes, poison, rigged outcomes, outside intervention, you name it. That is even possible against a Celestial if the circumstances are just correct.’

’However, that was the first time I saw a battle where neither side had a clear advantage, yet the Divinity won fair and square through sheer strength. I can tell it. The white haired boy is just as strong, right? I hope we get to know each other better later.’

Then, he smiled and turned his attention back to the projections. For some reason, he seemed more interested in Rean and Kentucky than in finding his wife-to-be.
