Death… And Me

Chapter 4108: Who Wold It Be?

Chapter 4108: Who Wold It Be?

"Soltrex?" The twins’ group didn’t understand. "How? We need to leave the Universe to follow the clue we got. Besides, there is no guarantee that the Mist Library is truly related to Soltrex."

Hick spoke on his CD. "Laiana, can you get in contact with Xyrath?"

-Hum? Sure, he managed to get a subordinate who uses the Werdlem network for him. Shall I connect him to this call?-

"Yes, go ahead."

Laiana spoke to Dongo, who added Xyrath’s number to the call. A few minutes later, Xyrath finally answered.

-Why are you calling me at this time? I had just gotten near another black hole, you know? I had to leave it so I could have my guy come out of my Pocket Dimensional Realm.-

"Xyrath, it’s me," Hick spoke.

-Oh! Hick! It sure has been a while. So they got you, too, uh?-

"Who got who? I was the one who went to see them in the first place," Hick complained. "No, forget that. We can do this reminiscence of the past later. Let me put you on par with our situation."

Hick and the others then explained everything to Xyrath, who finally understood. -Peak Stage Celestial with all Celestial Laws comprehended entirely in thirty-five minutes... Just what is wrong with you guys?-

Laiana joined. -I asked them the same thing.-

Rean and the others didn’t feel very happy. "Can you stop asking that question already?"

"Ahem..." Hick intervened. "So, Xyrath, it would be quite risky for us to try to get to the Great Void Shifters leading out of the Werdlem Universe. Do you think you can help us with that?"

The twins’ group was curious. Xyrath could control time; they knew that. But how could he help them leave the Werdlem Universe?

Xyrath went silent for a moment, finally speaking. -Don’t you think you are talking too much? This is not something others were supposed to know. Also, you know that if I do it, I will be unable to use my Innate Ability for a decade at least, right? That consumes pretty much all the power of my Time Plates. I will literally become vulnerable.-

Hick smiled in response. "We are at a point where none of us can hold back. Or do you want to spend the rest of our lives, which is basically forever, in this place?"

Now, even Laiana was curious. She was also one of the twelve primordial beasts in the Werdlem Empire’s Bubble, one of the twelve pillars. Yet, she didn’t know what they were talking about. -Vulnerable? Xyrath? That’s impossible, isn’t it? He could simply pull back one of the possible futures in his Time Plates and make any expenditures disappear.-

Roan narrowed his eyes. "But Xyrath was captured once, wasn’t he? He even admitted he allowed it to happen. Could it have something to do with this?"

Xyrath seemed conflicted to speak about it. But in the end, he finally opened his mouth. -You owe me one, Hick.-

"Yeah, yeah, I know."

Xyrath continued. -I can select an area and a point in time, a point in time that is not related to my ability to pull different futures from my time plates. However, it uses all my time plates’ power at once. That means I can’t make use of my abilities to escape other situations until my power is restored.-

Everyone was even more curious. "An area and a point in time? What can you do there?"

Xyrath resumed. -Basically, I can select an area where I know you had been before and pull time to the point you are brought back to that moment. Simply put, the future where you travelled to the Werdlem Universe ceases to exist.-

That truly surprised everyone. "Are you saying you can send us back to the past?!" Rean asked.

-Wait, what? No way! There is no such thing as travelling to the past. At least I’ve never heard about it,- Xyrath explained. -I’m not sending you back to the past. What I can do is eliminate the future that stems from that point and location. It will feel like you suddenly teleported straight from the Werdlem Universe back to the Future Realm.-

But then, he warned everyone. -However, there are risks.-

Roan narrowed his eyes. "If you do that, won’t you undo everything we have done up to this point?"

-No, that’s not the problem. I’m eliminating the future of yourselves. Whatever changes you caused during this time won’t be affected. The problem is your memories and your personal achievements.-

"I see... so when we appear there, we will be back to the Peak Stage Divinity, right? Also, we won’t remember anything we did until that point," Roan concluded.

-Yes,- Xyrath confirmed. -But it doesn’t need to be all of you. Just one of you is fine. The others can simply enter your Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm and be brought back inside it. Still, as I said, I would be pretty vulnerable for the next decade at least. It was like Roan said, I allowed myself to be caught. And now you know the reason. I used this specific ability of mine. Only Default, Hick, and I were supposed to know about it, and now you do too.-

Laiana didn’t like it. -That’s bullshit! You should have told me too!-

-As if!- Xyrath refused. -Who the hell would tell others something that could be used against them?-

-Why does Hick know then?- Laiana countered.

"Ahem..." Hick cut in. "It was basically a test. Xyrath and I tried to make use of both my Boundaries ability and his Time ability. I’ll end it there, as neither of us wants to remember it. As for Master Default, he always knew everything about all of us, so that shouldn’t be a surprise to you."

Laiana definitely wanted to learn more. -Xyrath, don’t think I will let that slide. You will tell me everything, you hear me?!-

-Hmph! Keep dreaming!- Xyrath didn’t relent, though. -Now, this is not all. There are a few other things you must know if I am to use this ability of mine. First, the most important, I call it the Voiding Future.-

The name was the most important? They hardly believed so... except for one guy.

"Indeed, that’s definitely the most important part of anything," Rean said and nodded with confidence. He couldn’t agree more.

-Right?!- Xyrath was happy Rean agreed with him.

Everyone decided to ignore that part, though.

Xyrath continued. -You might think this ability is strong, but it has its problems. Loss of cultivation, loss of memory, and I can’t use it on myself. I can’t do anything to someone who has gone further back than a decade. Even worse, I can’t use it against my enemies.-

"Hum?" That last part interested them. "Why?"

-Because when you mess with time, you also mess with space. When I use it to bring one of you back, you will feel like you are being pulled away. It’s just like when you try to send someone into your Pocket Dimensional Realm. Naturally, you can simply resist, and then this ability will fail. Can you imagine that? I use it on my enemy, and then I lose my Time Plates’ Power for a decade while nothing happens to my enemy at all.-

"So you can only use it on someone who is willing, and it doesn’t change the past at all. By the way, can it revive someone?" Rean suddenly thought of it.

-It can’t. I tried already,- And Xyrath answered. -There is a need to be a connection between the present and that moment in the past, think of it as a line. If that line was cut, like when you die, then this ability also doesn’t work. I’m telling you, there is pretty much nothing good about it. Perhaps it would be useful if you want to forget something forever, or, in your case, escape a certain place.-

Now, that was the question. Would anyone from the twins’ group be willing to lose their memories and cultivation? And if someone was, who would it be?
