Chapter 4145: What To Do?
The search for the Jade Turtle had been ongoing for forty-two years, but truth be told, Zuco found this turtle in the first months after the information spread all over Cloco Divine Ocean.
He was in the Lugor Seabed, the same place where he often sneaked in to find Magma Sea Rocks, when he spotted this turtle roaming around. He didn’t think much about it when he saw the turtle, and continued his search for the rocks.
But then, he saw the turtle, which he couldn’t detect any cultivation whatsoever, landing on the opening of one of the various underwater volcanoes around. The temperature there was enormous, and even Zuco wasn’t confident he could resist it. So, how could a turtle without any cultivation be able to do so?
Naturally, as the Jade Turtle Search became a huge topic in Cloco, Zuco remembered the news. Could that be the so-called Jade Turtle? There was only one way to find out. He acted slowly, checking around to make sure the urchins would not find him in their territory.
He waited for the turtle to start swimming again, and once it got away from the volcano opening, Zuco captured it. The turtle showed absolutely no resistance. In fact, it felt more like the turtle didn’t even know he was there.
Zuco immediately tried to send it into his Pocket Dimensional Realm, but it was then that he was surprised. He couldn’t! The turtle simply couldn’t be pulled into his Dimensional Realm, regardless of how hard he tried.
Well, that was to be expected. Even if it looked to be nothing special, that was Hyeoumu’s Real Body. How could Zuco’s Pocket Dimensional Realm ever resist Hyeoumu’s existence?
Zuco became even more curious and decided to give something else a try.
He saw in the news that the so-called Jade Turtle wasn’t really like that. It only assumed that color if someone in the Void Tempering Realm or above infused it with Divine Energy. So, as a Middle Stage Void Tempering Sea Demon Beast, he did exactly that.
To his surprise, the Jade Turtle truly changed! The Jade Color quickly took over, and that Turtle looked more like a statue made of jade. It still kept trying to swim away, although Zuco had no problem holding it in place. At that moment, he knew he had stumbled into the thing that the Big Five were searching for with everything they had.
Zuco didn’t just stay there, of course. Following that, Zuco enveloped the Jade Turtle with Divine Energy and pulled it away from the Lugor Seabed area. He moved extremely carefully, afraid of being spotted by anyone else. Considering the value of this Turtle, just a single hint would definitely drive countless experts to this area.
To his relief, he managed to reach a cave he had built many years ago, way before he reached the Void Tempering Realm. The area was pretty isolated as well, and unless you knew exactly what you were looking for, finding his cave was nearly impossible.
He released the Jade Turtle into that open area, deep into his cave. It had been swimming around ever since. It didn’t try to escape or do anything else. It simply existed in its own leisure rhythm.
Zuco looked at it, thinking about what to do. He checked the Werdlem network and checked the information. The reward for delivering this turtle was astronomical. However, that only made him afraid. If he appeared with this turtle, chances were he would be killed, and the turtle would be taken away. Would one of the Big Five really pay that price they were announcing? Zuco found it hard to believe.
In that case, he decided to make use of the Turtle himself. The Big Five are all looking for it, so it must have some incredible ability, right?
... well... in the last forty years, Zuco found absolutely no use whatsoever for this Jade Turtle. What exactly could he do with it anyway? Maybe it’s blood? Zuco tried to extract some of the Jade Turtle’s blood, just to fail miserably. It didn’t matter what he used. He simply couldn’t cause any injury to the Turtle whatsoever. It wasn’t just because of its shell. Zuco tried even the Turtle’s Eyes, and they, too, were impossible to damage.
Since then, he tried many other things. Tried to interact with the Turtle’s energy, talk to it, offer a deal, pretend to kill it, give it Divine Stones to see if anything happened, you name it. The turtle continued to roam free in that cave space, nothing else. Was it ignoring him on purpose? Zuco didn’t feel like it was the case. It was more like the turtle had no soul, if that made any sense. Little did he know just how right he was.
Now he had an indestructible Jade Turtle that he didn’t know what to do with. But that wasn’t much of an issue. So what if it had no use now? He could wait to increase his cultivation and try other things later, right? Well, it was then that he heard about the Invisible Jade Curse!
"Are you truly robbing me of my lifespan without me knowing?" Zuco asked the turtle. Too bad that the answer was the same as always: no answer.
Ever since the Jade Turtle turned into that Jade Color, it never returned to its original one. Zuco couldn’t help but wonder if that’s because this so-called ’link’ between his lifespan and the turtle had been active since then. There was no proof. Zuco couldn’t feel any changes to his lifespan either. But part of the information was that it said the owner wouldn’t be able to notice it in the first place!
Zuco shook his head, turning around and leaving the cave room while murmuring. "That’s ridiculous. It’s obviously just a plot of the Big Five to make me come out and give the turtle away."
The cave room was closed again... just for it to be opened once more three days later. Zuco’s expression was even heavier now than when he came here three days ago. "Could it truly be true...?"
As a Horned Jelly Sea Horse, he doesn’t have much to be proud of in the bloodline side. He knew he was already very lucky to have reached this level so fast, and it definitely wasn’t because he was talented, far from that. It was because he knew how to sneak into the Urchins’ Lugor Seabed to look for Magma Sea Rocks. If not for that, he wouldn’t have reached this level even if he had lived another three hundred years.
Still, there was only so much he could get from Magma Sea Rocks, and the payment for them wouldn’t help as much as it did when his cultivation was much lower. If this Jade Turtle was truly robbing him of half of his lifespan or more, then he was truly fucked if he didn’t find a way to get rid of it.
