Death… And Me

Chapter 4184: Echo

Chapter 4184: Echo

Later, Huver told Norogal about what he needed from him. Norogal, even as the oldest elder of the Abyssal Beasts, didn’t refuse. In fact, he happily accepted. "Yes, Senior Huver. I’m going to do my best to help them."

Huver still wasn’t used to all that trust in him. "You do know you might not see the other Abyssal Beasts again, right? These twins are going to try some crazy, dangerous shit."

"I’m aware," Norogal replied. "But now that I know Senior Huver is staying with the rest of our race, I can leave without any worries. Since you want me to help them, that is definitely for the sake of us all."

Huver wanted to say it was a lot more for his own sake, too. He just couldn’t force himself to do so. "Sigh... I won’t even try to convince you of the opposite. I will honor my bet, though."

Huver turned to Rean. "You can let us out now. I will bring the Abyssal Beasts out of the Werdlem Universe."

"Are you sure?" Rean asked, skeptical. "The Werdlem Universe is entirely enveloped in various kinds of formations. Won’t you be detected if you try to leave on your own?"

"There is no need to worry," Huver said. "I know what I’m doing."

Rean didn’t try to stop him. "If you say so..."

With that, Rean waved his hand, and all the Abyssal Beasts appeared outside. Right after, one of them opened a Spatial Gate, and the group rushed inside, quickly disappearing from there. Rean didn’t know what Huver was planning, but his group had no time to worry about them either.

"Norogal," Rean turned to the Abyssal Beast. "For now, you will stay in our Pocket Dimensional Realm. If you want to leave, just let me know. We won’t hold you here against your will."

"Senior Huver told me to stay and help you, and that’s what I intend to do," Norogal was adamant.

Rean shrugged and didn’t say anything else.

Finally, the twins’ group left the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, entering Dofrei’s home. Obviously, they went to see Default.

---

"Oh, so you are back," Default, still sipping his tea leisurely, spoke from his chair. "Wake Laiana up and get Xyrath out. Put all the other Primordial Demon Beasts on the call as well."

Rean nodded and used his CD to contact everyone, adding the whole group to the same call. Several projections were shown in the center of the room, one for each Primordial Beast not present there.

"Default!" Tharos was the first one to notice Default. "So they truly got you out of there!"

Default nodded slightly. "That’s correct. We can finally break out of the Werdlem Empire."

Veloryx didn’t look as happy. "Don’t you think you owe us an explanation first?"

"Which is?" Default asked back.

Veloryx’s expression turned dark. "The eleven of us were brought to the Werdlem Empire under your orders, and we were trapped in here because of it. How about you start telling us exactly why we attacked the Werdlem Empire at all?"

Rean and Roan looked at each other. They had already figured out that the Primordial Demon Beasts were trapped because they were the ones to attack in the first place. When they asked Hick why they attacked the Werdlem Empire, Hick told them that he didn’t know. They only followed orders, and those orders weren’t from Default, but from something else that only Default could talk to.

"I guess it makes sense. I would also want to know why I was ordered to come to the Werdlem Empire at all." Default then got up from his chair, putting his hands behind.

Roan raised his hand. "I’m more interested in what exactly this thing is that talks through you."

Default looked in the ceiling’s direction, although they knew he was probably thinking of something else. "You have asked me about it countless times, but I’ve never told you about it. Even Hick, Dofrei, and those who accepted me as their master don’t know about it."

His attention turned back to everyone in the room. "But after such a long time imprisoned, it is just right that I speak about it, even if it doesn’t want me to tell you."

*Rumble!!!*

Out of nowhere, the twins’ group and the others felt an extremely powerful pressure. The twins had felt the pressure from Soza, Victor, Caladara, and those experts they knew to be above the Celestial Realm. Yet, compared to this, those guys are truly nothing. It was like putting a firefly and the sun by each other’s side. It simply wasn’t worth mentioning both in the same sentence.

It wasn’t just an energy pressure, nor just laws pressure. It was everything! It felt like everything in existence was pressing against them. It didn’t happen only in that room. All the Primordial Demon Beasts, including those in other universes who were listening to this conversation through the call, felt the same thing.

Everyone tried to fight back with their own cultivations, but it was meaningless. Whatever was pressuring them seemed to also be holding directly on to their cultivations. It was like their own cultivations and bodies weren’t theirs anymore.

Default wasn’t surprised by that, though. Instead, he simply spoke with a calm expression. "Friend, this is enough. They won’t stop inquiring anymore, and sooner or later, they will figure it out. Too much has happened for them to just forget about it. You know it, I know it, so let’s stop it here."

As if hearing Default’s words, the pressure immediately vanished, allowing everyone to breathe again.

"Holy shit! What was that?! Just who could have such power?!" Kentucky couldn’t help but ask.

That was the question on everyone’s minds. What terrified them, especially the Primordial Beasts, was that they felt that whoever pressured them just now could truly kill them. Primordial Beasts shouldn’t be able to die, so to feel the threat of real death for the first time truly scared the hell out of them.

Default faintly smiled. "It is hard to call it a ’who...’ It doesn’t really have a name. I personally like to call it The Echo of the First Awakening."

Rean nodded. "Nice name."

"Too long. Echo it is from now on," Roan cut in, though.

"You truly don’t know how to appreciate a nice title and name, do you?" Rean asked back.

Default’s expression changed a bit. Was that really what they should be caring about right now? "Just what is wrong with you?"

All the Primordial Beasts nodded vigorously. They, too, had asked the same thing about the twins’ group before.
