Death… And Me

Chapter 4190: Naragal It Is

Chapter 4190: Naragal It Is

"Ah!" Suddenly, Xyrath’s consciousness came back, and he looked around. There, he noticed the other Primordial Demon Beasts, like Default, Nyxara, Laiana, and the rest that were with the twins’ group.

Default, who hasn’t lost his consciousness to start with, noticed Xyrath. "So you were the first one to come back, uh? I guess that makes sense, considering you have many different possibilities running within you."

Xyrath was confused. He could see that the other Primordial Demon Beasts were not responding. "W-What happened? I suddenly felt like something pulled me at my essence, and my consciousness simply went dark. Was that real? And what is this place?"

"That was real," Rean approached, while the rest of the twins’ group was watching over the still asleep beasts. "We didn’t even know if you and the others would be back again." Then, Rean used his Divine Sense to explain everything that happened.

"This..." Xyrath couldn’t help but feel a chill running through his soul. "Default, what would have happened if you also lost your consciousness? You were the only one of us who managed to resist, right?"

Default nodded. "I was, just barely, and that’s because I have a bigger connection with The Echo. I noticed the change just in time to protect myself. If I had also lost myself, I’m afraid we would all be gone for good."

Xyrath still found it hard to believe, but he returned to the main topic. "Pretty scary stuff. So... where are we? How come we are safe here? Could it be you guys managed to bring us out of the Werdlem Empire?"

Rean shook his head in response. "No... Well, not entirely. Norogal, come here."

Norogal, the Abyssal Beast, quickly stopped what he was doing to answer Rean. "I’m still stabilizing this place. What is it?"

Rean smiled. "It was thanks to Norogal here that you guys woke up again."

Turns out that the Primordial Demon Beasts are inside an Abyssal Path that has just been built by Norogal. It had no destination like the other paths, though. Perhaps it was better to call it an Abyssal Room instead.

Rean got this idea after what he heard about the Abyssal Paths, that the Abyssal Paths didn’t really pass through their plane. Instead, the Abyssal Paths existed in another plane for themselves, and the Abyssal Beasts even called it the Abyssal Plane.

That’s also why the Abyssal Beasts required a beacon in the location where they intend to connect a new Abyssal Path. Mamato had a piece of himself brought inside the Great Void Black Hole, for example. That’s how he was able to create an Abyssal Path directly inside BH1, which served to rescue Default. The Abyssal Plane is a separate place from the Great Void.

However, it wasn’t perfect...

"I can still feel something pulling at my essence and primordial laws," Xyrath commented. "It is definitely more than the usual."

Default agreed. "Makes sense. I don’t know much about the Abyssal Paths and the Abyssal Plane, but I can guess that it is pretty close to our own reality. It is a little like your various possible futures, Xyrath. They are different possibilities, but they are close at hand for you to use."

Rean agreed. "That also explains why it is impossible to use the Abyssal Paths to leave the Werdlem Empire. The Bubble can still prevent a path from connecting to the outside."

At that moment, Laiana also woke up. "Hum? What happened?"

Celis was with her, and he explained everything before they joined with the Rean.

One by one, the Primordial Beasts woke up, leaving now only the Primordial Beasts that were not with the twins’ group at the moment.

"Okay, with this, we at least prevented you guys from having your essences and primordial laws from being completely taken away," Roan commented. "The problem is the rest of you back in F974."

Default quickly spoke. "There is no need to worry. They won’t have their Essences and Primordial Laws completely removed unless it is done to all of us at once. Whatever the Empire is doing to The Echo, it has to be done with all our Primordial Laws and Essences at once. Otherwise, Xyrath and the others would already be gone now."

"Good thing you managed to hold there," Rean said. "We have a problem, though. We only have Norogal with us. The initial plan was to use the remaining Abyssal Path in A1 and the paths in other Universes on the way to go back to F974 quickly. But if we keep Norogal here, we obviously can’t use those Abyssal Paths. He was the one who would open and carry us through them safely."

One can’t forget that the environment inside the Abyssal Paths is extremely dangerous. Norogal was using his Abyssal Beast ability to keep them safe in the Abyssal Path. The twins lost the system, and with that, the system’s ability to open Abyssal Paths and protect them, which costs processing power to work.

If Norogal leaves, no one can keep the Abyssal Path from trying to destroy everything inside it. Best-case scenario, the Abyssal Room would expel Default’s group out again on its own since the Primordial Beasts can’t die. Default and the others couldn’t go out either, or they would be caught by The Echo once again. They would need another Abyssal Beast now, which they don’t have.

Norogal narrowed his eyes. "I didn’t want to do this, but it seems like I have no other choice..."

Everyone looked at Norogal, confused.

*Zush!*

Suddenly, another Abyssal Beast appeared inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. This one was quite young, though. Its cultivation was only in the Void Tempering Realm Middle Stage, too.

"This is...?" They asked Norogal, surprised.

"My daughter," Norogal answered. "Naragal, say hello."

That was quite the choice for a name...

Naragal, however, hid herself behind Norogal. The Female Abyssal Beast was obviously very shy.

"So she was inside your own Pocket Dimensional Realm..." Rean and the others quickly understood.

"Yes," Norogal confirmed. "I’m a little too overprotective, especially due to how hard it is for us Abyssal Beasts to procreate. There are only a few hundred of us in the entire Werdlem Empire, after all."

[I remember her. When Rean asked to remove the Soul Seals of the Abyssal Beasts, she was also with them,] said Sister Orb. [So you brought her with you instead of letting her leave with Huver and the others, uh?]

"Yes," Norogal continued. "I had no intention of getting her involved, and if things truly got too dangerous, I was going to send her away. I didn’t expect I would need her in this situation, though."

Roan looked at the Female Abyssal Beast, still hiding behind Norogal. "So she will stay here and keep this Abyssal Path open and secure for those who stay behind. Norogal will come with us to A1 and then F974, is that it?"

"No," Norogal shook his head. "She will open the Abyssal Path in A1 for you guys. I’ll be the one to stay here."

"What?!" Naragal finally spoke, looking at her father with a terrified expression. "I... I don’t want to leave alone, Father!"

Roan narrowed his eyes. It would definitely be much better to have Norogal come with them instead. However... "I see. The Primordial Beasts’ existence."

Norogal nodded. "Correct. These Primordial Beasts here are making it quite hard to keep this open space in the Abyssal Plane. My daughter has no chance of holding this Abyssal Path... or Room... open on her own. Not with her power and cultivation. She can open a normal Abyssal Path and protect one or two people, though."

The twins’ group understood they didn’t have another choice. It was either Naragal, or they would have to find some way of bringing over another Abyssal Beast.

With time, Rean was confident they could get Huver or another one of the Abyssal Beasts that had left back then. The problem was truly the time itself. Would the Primordial Beasts in F974 be safe for that long? They would rather not gamble on it. "Well, Naragal it is..."
