Death… And Me

Chapter 4250: No Way Out

Chapter 4250: No Way Out

If the twins looked famous in the humanoid races district, Celis and Kentucky were already idols among the Demon Beasts.

But there was a reason for that. When the alarm went off, and they were brought to the frontline, one different from the twins’ group, that battlefield was a lot bigger. There were many more experts, as the waves coming were more numerous.

But, above all, Celis did not want to watch from behind. After they had a taste of the Godly Creatures’ strength for the first time, Celis dragged Kentucky with him into the frontlines, and because of that, they ended up killing a lot more Godly Spawns.

The problem was the Godly Beasts, which they had to fight five times. As Celestial Realm Experts, Celis and Kentucky were still not those beasts’ match, and they could barely hold on. But at the same time, the fact that they could simply hold was already a miracle in itself. They bought time for the Anchor Gods to take down those beasts.

In the Godly Subjugation Performance list, Celis and Kentucky had one Godly Beast each attached to their names. They were seen as the main contributors to the death of those beasts.

’Hey, Kentucky,’ Rean’s voice suddenly echoed in the bird’s mind. ’Are you still alive?’

Kentucky didn’t show much of a reaction, looking at his feathers that were slowly returning to normal. ’Hard to say... I think I lost a third of my lifespan at the very least.’

’You don’t have a lifespan anymore,’ Celis added in that same conversation. ’Anyway, great news! We are going to get quite a big bonus in Godly Crystals because of our contributions in the assault.’

Roan agreed with Celis there. ’Indeed. Just don’t forget that this is a one-time only reward. The next time we appear in a battlefield to help defend against the hordes of Godly Creatures, we obviously won’t be rookies anymore.’

Celis couldn’t help but ask. ’You seem a little more enthusiastic. Is that my imagination, Roan?’

Rean smiled after hearing that. ’Surprisingly, it is not. He is pretty satisfied, but not because of the results of the Godly Subjugation Guild.’

’Sigh...’ Roan quickly returned to normal. ’Normally I would deny it, but I have to admit I’m liking what is happening right now.’

Kentucky seemed to spring back to life. That story very much interested him. ’What is it? What is it?! Did you find some treasure?’

’No... maybe yes. Depends on how you look at it. In fact, Celis, Kentucky, you should have noticed it already. There is no doubt you have even more attention on you than Rean and I do,’ Roan explained.

Celis and Kentucky looked at each other. At the moment, they were being brought to their residence in the Demon Beast District in the Inner Sect, and there were indeed many Demon Beasts looking at them.

’Are you feeling good that we have a lot of attention?’ Kentucky asked. ’I never took you for someone who needed admirers.’

’Who the hell wants admirers?’ Roan retorted, his good mood disappearing. ’That’s not it, idiot. We are probably richer than the vast majority of the new ascenders and new cultivators of the sect or even the city and country. The reward for being so high in the report ranking list likely makes even the Anchor Gods quite jealous.’

’Ah!’ Celis got Roan’s message. ’There is no killing intent! Not a single iota of red color coming for us, even though thousands and thousands of disciples are watching.’

Roan was relieved. ’At least Celis understood.’

Let’s not forget that, since the connection between Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky strengthened, both Celis and Kentucky gained the ability to see killing intent. And yet, there was none around.

Still, Celis was cautious. ’But is that truly the case? What if Roan’s ability to see killing intent doesn’t work in the Celestial Plane?’

’It does,’ Rean quickly assured. ’If intents didn’t work, none of us would be able to use Weapon Intents either. At the very core, intents have similar origins.’

Roan continued. ’Anyway, the reason there is no killing intent is the circumstance of the Celestial Plane. Punishment for infighting in the Besgol Region is extremely harsh, which discourages anyone from having funny ideas. It is not that no one thought about robbing us of our Godly Crystals, but that no one would ever consider killing us for that. At least not inside the Besgol Region.’

’I checked the network about the Godly Subjugation Guild. There is a reason why you must report to the guild if you go out of the Besgol Region. That’s because you can’t go out if you don’t make the report. I’m not saying that it is prohibited. It is prohibited to go out without doing so. But the main point is that you won’t be able to break that rule even if you wanted to.’

’You can’t?’ Kentucky and Celis didn’t know that, but they didn’t need to think much to understand why. ’The so-called Sacred Relic?’

’Yes,’ Roan confirmed. ’According to what is shown in the network of the Besgol Region, the Relic creates a protective field that weakens the Godly Creatures that get close. And the closer they get, the weaker they become to the point they lose all their power if they are near it.’

’Wait!’ Kentucky had a bad feeling. ’The Godly Creatures we found during the assault...’

’They were weakened, yes,’ Roan confirmed again. ’There is a map of the influence of the Sacred Relic. The battlefields where we fought restricted the Godly Creatures’ powers by around 30%.’

’That’s why the Besgol Region hasn’t increased in size for a very, very long time,’ Rean added on the side. ’That’s why all cities are so close to each other, different from the Great Voids. That 30% weakening is the minimum you should expect to be able to defend realistically. Less than that, and stopping those hordes becomes virtually impossible over time. You would need many more experts to achieve the same results, and you only have so many new experts being born, let alone ascending.’

Kentucky and Celis also fought the Godly Spawns in the backlines at first, as Rean and Roan did. They, too, didn’t receive support from the Arrays at that time before they joined the frontlines.

’The Godly Spawns were already incredibly annoying to kill, and you are telling me they were weakened by 30%?’ Kentucky didn’t like it at all.

’Yes,’ Roan confirmed. ’Anyway, that’s not the point of this conversation. As long as we are within the protective field of the Sacred Relic, we should be safe. The point here is that the Sacred Relic also makes it impossible to leave its area of influence without the Godly Subjugation Guild’s permission.’

’It’s even better than that,’ Rean smiled. ’It is possible to find the exact location of every single expert of our Besgol Region at any point in time through that same Relic.’

Celis and Kentucky finally understood. ’No Pocket Dimensional Realms, no way out without permission, everyone’s lives are counted for every second... and most likely, it should be possible to tell who killed who because of that...’

Killing or even trying robbery inside the Besgol Region... is simply suicide! Thus, no killing intent. No amount of resources will ever be worth one’s life!

The ultimate rule of the Besgol Region, and actually all regions in the same situation: Survival of the region is paramount! No internal strife will be tolerated!
