Death… And Me

Chapter 4332: Check Something

Chapter 4332: Check Something

The first day of the assault was reaching its end, and surprisingly, Turanzo Country was the only one that had already started being attacked by Godly Predators.

Lesgez and Terno Dore still hadn’t seen a single Predator, yet no one felt relieved because of that. If anything, the cultivators stationed there were becoming increasingly tense as time passed. They all knew it was only a matter of time before the situation changed.

The reason behind it was also obvious to the experts overseeing the war effort. Turanzo had deployed the tactic involving the explosive arrays far more efficiently than the other two countries. Their armies adapted quickly, their commanders coordinated the detonations perfectly, and the support arrays behind the lines continuously supplied the front with enough energy to maintain the strategy without interruption.

Because of that, the number of Godly Creatures attacking Turanzo reduced drastically compared to the other battlefronts, forcing the Predators to come out earlier than expected to compensate for the sudden loss in numbers. The Godly Spawns and Godly Beasts were no longer sufficient to maintain pressure on Turanzo’s defenses, so the Predators had no choice but to personally join the battlefield if they wanted to keep the assault going.

It wasn’t until the end of the second day that Lesgez finally began to see the appearance of Godly Predators. The moment the first reports spread through the battlefield network, the Zone Gods stationed there immediately mobilized to intercept them before they could break through the defensive lines.

In Terno Dore, however, that only happened midway through the third day.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t good news at all. Quite the opposite. It simply meant that Terno Dore had taken the longest to reduce the numbers of Godly Spawns and Godly Beasts, which also implied they had suffered the greatest number of casualties among the three countries. Their defensive lines had been under constant pressure for too long, and the Godly Creatures there still possessed enough numbers to sustain the assault without requiring the Predators to intervene earlier.

One thing was playing in favor of the cultivators, though: the death of the Three-Eyed Raven.

Since it had appeared in Turanzo, no other Godly Horror dared to make an appearance there. The reason was surprisingly simple. Godly Horrors didn’t truly possess intelligence comparable to cultivators, but they still retained a primitive understanding of territory and hierarchy. For them, Turanzo’s battlefield belonged to the Raven. Any other Godly Horror attempting to enter that territory would essentially be challenging it directly. Even creatures of that level instinctively understood that such an action would most likely lead to death.

Naturally, the Raven was already dead, but the remaining Godly Horrors had no way of knowing that.

Thanks to this misunderstanding, Turanzo’s defenses began performing even better than before. Eventually, Huriu and the top commanders of the other Turanzo battlefronts started dispatching reinforcements toward Terno Dore to help stabilize the worsening situation there.

Of course, Huriu intentionally did not select the twins’ group when sending his portion of the reinforcements. He still wanted Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis to remain within his sight for as long as possible. After everything they had done during the battle against the Raven, he believed it was better to watch them in case they needed help. They deserved as much.

The fourth and fifth days passed, and the situation in Turanzo Country finally began calming down considerably. Without the constant fear of another Godly Horror suddenly appearing, Huriu and the commanders of the remaining battlefronts no longer needed to preserve their support arrays for a possible emergency involving a creature at the Raven’s level.

As a result, the cultivators could finally fight without holding back.

Boosting arrays illuminated the battlefield one after another, increasing the strength and speed of the cultivators while debuffing arrays continuously weakened the Godly Creatures from afar. With the Sacred Relic suppressing the creatures’ Godly Pressure and the support formations empowering the defenders, the balance of the war gradually shifted completely toward the cultivators’ side.

The Predators started dying one after another. Some resisted until the very end, while others fled the battlefield entirely after suffering severe injuries. The Godly Spawns were slaughtered in large quantities, and even the Godly Beasts no longer possessed enough numbers to threaten the defensive lines like before.

On the sixth day, several battlefronts throughout Turanzo were finally declared clean. The remaining Godly Creatures either escaped deep into their territories or were exterminated completely. Troops stationed in those regions were immediately reorganized and redirected toward more critical locations, leaving behind only small contingents in case another wave appeared unexpectedly.

Surprisingly, Huriu’s battlefield ended up being one of the last battlefronts in Turanzo to finally clear the remaining enemies.

Still, that outcome was understandable. The Three-Eyed Raven had appeared there and nowhere else. Naturally, the battlefield where the Godly Horror descended would also become the area suffering the heaviest concentration of Godly Creatures.

---

A thick root suddenly sprouted from the ground, piercing straight through the head of a Godly Beast before violently extracting its Godly Crystal from the corpse. Without wasting even a second, the root tossed the crystal backward through the air, where it landed perfectly in the hand of an exhausted Aura God. The cultivator didn’t even speak. He immediately sat down amidst the chaos and began absorbing the energy from the crystal to recover as quickly as possible before rejoining the fight.

High above the battlefield, a black-and-white bird moved through the sky with terrifying speed, clearly enjoying itself now that the number of Godly Creatures had diminished significantly. Flying Godly Spawns barely survived more than a few seconds after entering its range, while even Flying Godly Beasts struggled to escape once it targeted them. Some were torn apart directly in the air, while others were forced to retreat after suffering heavy injuries.

At the same time, two ascenders moved across the battlefield below with frightening efficiency. One possessed dark hair, while the other had white hair. Their figures flashed through the battlefield one after another as blades cut through the bodies of Godly Creatures with ruthless precision. Whenever a Godly Beast appeared, the two immediately coordinated without even needing to exchange words, bringing the creature down within seconds through flawless teamwork.

Naturally, that was the twins’ group.

Even after six straight days of battle, their performance continued to shock everyone around them. Their merit and contribution points increased nonstop as every kill was automatically recorded through their RCs. By now, the total contribution gathered by the group had already reached a staggering amount that many cultivators would never achieve in this defense against the Godly Creatures.

Too bad they still weren’t Aura Gods.

They could indeed fight at that level, but ultimately, their cultivation remained inferior. The strongest Aura Gods, especially those in the Late and Peak Stages, were still capable of performing similarly or even surpassing them in certain aspects, particularly the older geniuses who had accumulated experience for countless years.

Still, was that really something negative?

Of course not!

The twins’ group was accomplishing all of that as mere Anchor Gods. No sane cultivator would dare call them weak simply because stronger Aura Gods existed. Such a comparison would be completely absurd. If anything, the terrifying part was exactly the fact they were already capable of reaching that level before even stepping into the Aura God Realm.

Roan cut through the neck of a Godly Spawn before his Crystal Void Scythe disappeared into particles of intent energy. His eyes swept across the battlefield before turning toward the distant side occupied by the Godly Creatures. After observing it for a few moments, he quietly sighed. ’It is done.’

He wasn’t wrong.

There were still Godly Creatures remaining on the battlefield, but their numbers no longer possessed any realistic chance of overturning the situation. More importantly, the Sacred Relic was still operating at full power.

With the number of Godly Creatures decreasing rapidly, the density of Godly Pressure around the battlefield had also weakened significantly. That only caused the Relic’s suppressive effects to become increasingly more effective.

At the same time, the cultivators themselves were experiencing less suppression from the creatures’ Godly Pressure, allowing their own combat power to rise further. The balance had already turned into a complete snowball effect that only continued growing stronger in favor of Besgol.

Rean approached Roan while wiping some slightly golden blood from his face. His clothes were already covered in the remains of several Godly Creatures. "Turanzo should be fine now."

Roan gave a small nod. "In the end, even after the Raven’s death, no other Godly Horror appeared here. It is impressive just how much of a deterrent its existence became, not only for the cultivators but also for the Godly Creatures themselves."

Rean’s Crystal Void Sword disappeared as well. "What about the other countries?"

Roan checked the information displayed on his RC. He had done so many times throughout the last six days. Even though he could communicate directly with Rean, Kentucky, and Celis through their soul connection, the military network and war updates still depended on normal communication systems.

"A leopard-like Godly Horror appeared in Lesgez Country two days ago," Roan explained. "Arcis and Tobao intercepted it immediately. Unlike the battle against the Raven, they didn’t need to risk everything. They used the support arrays properly and purposely prolonged the fight for several hours."

Rean listened carefully while observing the battlefield around them.

"The Godly Horror couldn’t do much against two Law Gods receiving the support of both the Sacred Relic and the battlefield arrays," Roan continued. "Eventually, after suffering enough injuries, it retreated on its own. It hasn’t appeared again since."

Rean nodded slightly before asking, "And Terno Dore?"

"Arcis already moved there afterward," Roan replied. "Tobao stayed behind in Lesgez just in case another Godly Horror appears, but both of them are expecting Terno Dore to suffer an attack from one by either today or tomorrow at most."

Roan paused briefly before continuing.

"Turanzo already started sending a large number of reinforcements there. Their frontline finally stabilized, and they’re now managing to kill enough Godly Creatures to reduce the pressure little by little."

Normally, Roan shouldn’t possess such detailed information regarding the movements of the two Law Gods. However, Tobao had personally left his contact information with them after the battle against the Raven. Tobao still considered Rean’s array abilities extremely important.

Although he already possessed the blueprints for Rean’s disguise Array, he wasn’t foolish enough to believe that was all Rean was capable of creating. If Rean managed to develop something like that, then perhaps he still had other hidden cards available.

Keeping contact with them was simply worth it.

Still, Rean quickly noticed something strange. "Things are progressing pretty well after the Raven’s death," he said while narrowing his eyes slightly. "Yet you don’t seem very happy about the situation."

Roan didn’t deny it. "Because this isn’t the full picture."

Rean looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?"

Roan remained silent for a moment before answering. "Something is missing..."

Even he couldn’t properly explain why he felt that way. It was more instinct than anything else.

At that exact moment, a sudden change spread throughout the environment.

The influence of the Sacred Relic weakened considerably, and every cultivator in Besgol immediately noticed the difference. The suppressive power surrounding the battlefield decreased, while the energy amplification supporting the armies also fell somewhat.

Then, almost simultaneously, messages arrived through the RC network across all battlefronts.

-With most of the assault already dealt with, the Sacred Relic’s power has now been restored to its standard operational state. However, do not lower your guard. Lesgez and Turanzo may no longer be in immediate danger, but Terno Dore still requires reinforcements. Additional forces will continue being relocated there, so follow the instructions transmitted through your RCs.-

There was absolutely nothing strange about that message.

As previously explained, the Sacred Relic had only been operating at such an extreme level because of the unprecedented scale of this assault. Under normal circumstances, maintaining that level of power consumption for long periods would simply be too expensive, even for Besgol.

Roan stared at the message quietly, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Everything was normal.

In fact, he had already expected this exact development to happen. Every major power in Besgol likely expected it as well.

Yet the uneasiness inside him only grew stronger.

At that moment, another update spread through the military network regarding the situation in Terno Dore.

The Godly Horror had finally appeared.

Without a doubt, Tobao and Arcis would immediately move to intercept it.

Thinking about that, Roan slowly turned his gaze toward the distant Godly Creature Territories. His expression became colder and colder as if he had finally made a decision.

Through the soul connection shared only between the four of them, his voice echoed directly inside Kentucky’s mind.

’Kentucky, come over. We need to check something.’
