Chapter 4008: The News Spreads
Inside the sect, old records were being opened.
Ancient names were being searched, elders were digging through sealed archives and some cultivators who had heard the name Mengli Zhenyu immediately remembered stories told by their predecessors. There were also many others who had never heard the name at all.
Wild Peak was the most chaotic as the moment the news reached the peak, the elders there were stunned. Their long-lost Junior Elder had returned and according to the reports, he had already fought Daoist Bone Ruler.
The implications were enormous.
At the same time, the Law Division was preparing to investigate the matter involving Little Bull. Daoist Bone Ruler had personally promised to look into it. Yet every elder involved understood something important.
The matter was no longer an ordinary disciplinary dispute as Mengli Zhenyu had taken an interest in it. And he had made his position very clear. While the sect was beginning to react to the return of the Earth Sea Tyrant, Lin Mu remained completely unaware of the growing commotion.
He sat quietly inside the Mad Demon Depths as pills continued dissolving within his body, Immortal Qi flowed through his meridians and his Immortal Essence slowly recovered.
His elemental cores revolved within his body, each core continued turning steadily, providing a stable foundation for his cultivation. Lin Mu’s lips slowly curved upward. The longer he had spent in the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect, the more interesting the situation had become.
And he had a feeling that the secrets hidden beneath the surface were going to be far more troublesome than a mere imprisoned disciple. For now, however, he continued cultivating, as the Earth Sea Tyrant could afford to rest.
After all, the entire sect was already busy preparing for his return.
Several hours passed before Lin Mu finally opened his eyes.
The medicinal energy circulating through his body had been completely refined, and his Immortal Qi had recovered to a comfortable level. His Immortal Essence was still somewhat below its peak, though the difference was small enough that it would not hinder him.
The battle with Daoist Bone Ruler had taken a significant amount from him, yet his enormous reserves gave him an advantage that most cultivators could only dream of. Lin Mu stretched his arms and slowly stood.
The familiar ache that had lingered in his body had disappeared.
He rolled his shoulders once and looked around the ancient chamber. "It should be enough."
There was still some energy left to recover, but Lin Mu had already spent enough time hiding inside the Mad Demon Depths. His objective required him to move quickly. The longer he remained away from Wild Peak after announcing his return, the more suspicious his absence could become.
More importantly, he wanted to see how his supposed home had changed after more than one hundred thousand years. Just like how an old senior should do. As such Lin Mu raised his hand and space twisted.
A portal appeared and beyond it was a location nearly one hundred kilometers away from Wild Peak. Lin Mu stepped through and the moment he emerged, the portal vanished behind him.
The scenery around him was completely different from the Mad Demon Depths.
A vast mountain range stretched across the horizon, covered in dense vegetation and surrounded by clouds. Immortal Qi flowed through the region in gentle currents, while distant peaks pierced through the clouds like enormous pillars supporting the heavens.
Lin Mu looked toward the distant mountain.
’Wild Peak.’ His eyes narrowed slightly and for a moment, the calm expression of Lin Mu disappeared. His posture changed, shoulders straightened and chin lifted slightly. Soon his eyes became sharper and even the way he breathed changed.
The person standing there was no longer Lin Mu, he was Mengli Zhenyu, the Earth Sea Tyrant. The ancient Junior Elder of Wild Peak who had disappeared more than one hundred thousand years ago.
Lin Mu stroked his long beard and gave a satisfied nod. "Much better."
He took a step forward and his body rose into the air. Then he flew toward Wild Peak. He did not hurry, as there was no reason to. An elder returning to his home after more than one hundred thousand years should be seen and he should be remembered.
If Lin Mu wanted to maintain Zhenyu’s personality, there was no point in quietly sneaking back into the peak. The entire purpose of his return was to make people believe that Mengli Zhenyu had returned.
Therefore, he made sure that his presence could be sensed.
His Immortal Qi spread faintly through the surroundings and his enormous vitality followed. His aura remained restrained enough to avoid causing destruction, yet anyone with sufficient cultivation could sense the profound pressure contained within it.
Lin Mu smiled. "Let them feel a little anticipation."
The journey took little time and soon, Wild Peak appeared before him. The moment Lin Mu saw it, however, his expression became slightly strange.
"Hm?" Something was wrong as the Wild Peak was quiet.
Far too quiet than it was even at night. Lin Mu slowed down and took a proper look. The vast mountain was usually filled with activity. Wild Peak was home to body cultivators, and body cultivators were rarely willing to sit around peacefully for too long.
There should have been disciples training in the open areas, fighting against one another, carrying enormous rocks up mountains, tempering their bodies through various methods, or simply shouting at each other while competing over something completely ridiculous.
Yet now, the mountain seemed almost deserted.
Lin Mu hovered in the air and looked around.
"Where did they all go?" His voice carried genuine confusion.
He spread his Immortal Sense and the enormous wave of perception immediately covered Wild Peak. He quickly detected several powerful presences and they were gathered together.
The majority were located in one particular area: The main hall.
Lin Mu raised an eyebrow. ’Even if it is the main hall, not everyone is called there at once.’ His expression became thoughtful. ’Unless this is a major meeting.’
That was the only explanation that made sense. As such, he changed direction and a short while later, Lin Mu arrived above the main hall.
