The Substitute Bride: Indulged by the Obsessive CEO

Chapter 11 - 11 Impotent and Only Six Months to Live

11 Impotent and Only Six Months to Live

On their way to the library, Lu Fan walked in front while Ruan Qi held Tang Beibei’s arm. She looked at the tall and noble boy in front of her, all starry-eyed.

“Beibei, if he wasn’t yours, I would definitely chase after him.”

Tang Beibei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Qiqi, don’t talk nonsense. How can he be mine? I’m already married!”

Ruan Qi snorted. “The sickly young master of the Jiang family is not valued in the family and probably has nothing to do with the family inheritance. His marriage is a ploy between brothers. He’s a cripple who can’t have sex. When he’s dead, you’ll still be a pure and innocent virgin.”

Ruan Qi looked at Lu Fan, infatuation all over her face. “Senior Lu Fan is different. His looks are off the charts. He’s tall, handsome, noble and refined. And he treats you special.”

“He’s very concerned about you and even knows about your leave of absence. He even came over to ask you about it. He must fancy you.”

Tang Beibei explained helplessly, “We have the same tutor and the tutor just asked him to take care of us. I only see him as a role model. I don’t have any other thoughts.”

Ruan Qi replied, “Just because you don’t have any thoughts about him doesn’t mean that he doesn’t fancy you. Senior Lu Fan has a very bright future. Beibei, you should treasure it and consider him.”

Tang Beibei smiled as she shook her head. “It doesn’t matter how good he is, I’m already married and my husband is Jiang Jingchen.”

Ruan Qi consoled Tang Beibei out of the goodness of her heart, “Although Jiang Jingchen is the first young master of the Jiang family, he is disabled, impotent and only have six months to live. You must think about your future.”

Her future?

Tang Beibei’s heart ached at the thought that Jiang Jingchen had no future.

No, she must think of a way to cure him so he could live on.

She would find books and learn different treatment methods. If Western medicine didn’t work, she would try Chinese medicine.

She made a list of books that she wanted to find and study. She saw one of the books on the third shelf, but she couldn’t reach it even when she tiptoed, which annoyed her a little.

Suddenly, she saw an arm reach over her head taking the book out. She turned around in surprise and saw Lu Fan.

When she turned around, she almost bumped into him. She stepped back and leaned against the bookshelf.

But the slim gentleman scholar in front of her, who was wearing black-rimmed glasses perhaps because he was reading, did not retreat.

Instead, he took a step forward and placed an arm next to her to support himself. When he lowered his head, his breath was on the top of her head, making her heart race.

“Beibei, the book you’ve picked is a bit difficult. If you want to understand more about Chinese medicine, I recommend this other book to you.”

Lu Fan’s clear voice sounded as he took out another book, smiling.

Tang Beibei moved to the side to keep a distance from him. She looked at the book he was holding. It was also on her list of books to read.

“Thank you, senior. I plan to read that book too.”

Lu Fan passed the book to her. He frowned as he sensed her avoidance.

“Beibei, when you read the book, come and ask me if you have any questions. I’m happy to discuss with you.”

Tang Beibei took the book, apologized, and moved further away.

“Thank you, senior. Don’t find me annoying when the time comes.”

Lu Fan smiled and patted her forehead lightly. “Don’t be lazy and not read the book after borrowing it. I’ll be waiting for your call.”

Tang Beibei face was serious. “I will read it carefully and take notes.”

Lu Fan saw her serious expression and wanted to laugh. She was really a unique girl.

“Now I’m curious. Can I see your notes?”

Tang Beibei didn’t think much of it. She just felt that Lu Fan was concerned about her studies, so this was normal interaction.

“I’ll show you when I’m done. Senior can also give me some pointers then. Hehe.”

Tang Beibei continued to look for the books on her list. Lu Fan followed her, saying that he could help her. Tang Beibei didn’t want to trouble him, but Lu Fan calmly said that he was also looking for books and they could go together.

The two of them found their books. Tang Beibei carried a stack of books back to her seat and Lu Fan took away half her load.

“Senior, there’s no need. I can manage.”

“A gentleman should always do something for a lady. Beibei, don’t mind such a small matter.”

Tang Beibei could only thank him. After she sat down, she started to study seriously.

Ruan Qi wanted to go back to Tang Beibei after she found her book. When she saw the two of them sitting face to face, she didn’t want to be a third wheel and found another seat.

After she sat down, she observed the two of them from time to time.

She noticed that the silly girl Tang Beibei didn’t even look at the handsome and noble man opposite her. Instead, Lu Fan’s gaze often fell on her, an indulgent gaze, almost loving.

Damn, Lu Fan must be interested in Beibei!

Ruan Qi felt that she had discovered an important secret. She immediately took out her phone to take a picture as evidence.

After school, Tang Beibei received a call from Song Zhou, who said that he had arrived at the school gate.

Tang Beibei smiled and said goodbye to Lu Fan before she ran out.

Ruan Qi saw her in a hurry and pulled her back. She asked in confusion, “Beibei, why are you in such a hurry?”

“My husband’s man is here to pick me up. I’m going to the school gate.”

Ruan Qi rolled her eyes. “No one knows who long your husband will live. Don’t have too many feelings for him. If you fall for him and he dies, you’ll be very sad.”

Tang Beibei frowned. “Qiqi, he’s my husband. He’s good to me and I treat him as a friend. Can you not talk about him dying again, please?”

“Beibei, you… Sigh, I am simply reminding you to not fall for him. Your future is very long.” Ruan Qi said worriedly.

Tang Beibei also knew that Ruan Qi said those things because she was worried about her. She nodded with a smile. “I’ll keep that in mind. Qiqi, I’ll go first, hehe.”

Ruan Qi sighed helplessly as she watched Tang Beibei leave laughing.

This girl was pretty and had a good figure, but there was something wrong with her brain. She was slow to react to matters of the heart and could not sense Lu Fan’s feelings for her.

Tang Beibei ran out the school gate and saw Song Zhou waving at her. She quickened her pace.

“Young madam, please get in the car.”

Song Zhou held the car door open for her like a gentleman and respectfully invited her into the car.

“Thank you, Song Zhou.”

Tang Beibei got into the car and saw a man sitting next to her.

It was Jiang Jingchen.

He was wearing a well-pressed suit. Although his legs were injured, his back was still straight when he sat, perhaps out of habit. There were no wrinkles at all on his well-pressed suit.

The top button of his black shirt was fastened. He looked like a priest.

Even though the Jiang family didn’t value him as the first young master of the family, his air of nobility and elegance seemed to come from within him.

Regardless of his disability, the scars on his face or the mocking or insult from others.

His magnificence didn’t diminish.

She married him not out of love, but she was willing to spend time with him.

“Hey, hubby, you… Why are you out and about?”

Jiang Jingchen coughed twice before he replied plainly, “I have something to do. I’m here to pick you up to go to this place.”

“Where are we going?” Tang Beibei was confused.

“You’ll know when you get there.”

Jiang Jingchen was acting mysterious, which made Tang Beibei even more curious about where he was taking her.
