Chapter 6090, Questions Left Unanswered
Author: Silavin
Yang Kai looked at Yang Ji and saw something deep in his eyes. He immediately understood that this had to do with what he had uncovered during his secluded cultivation. “What is it?”
“Father, have you been aware this whole time that we were all cultivating an incomplete path? That our Daos would cease from here?” Yang Ji said with a voice that contained both frustration and disappointment.
However, to his surprise, Yang Kai readily admitted. He did not even need to pause. In fact, such a straightforward admission made Yang Ji even more vexed. “Yes.”
“Why?”
“Why have I said nothing so far? What difference would it make?” Yang Kai said with a sigh. He truly did not expect one of his children to reach this stage. After all, even his Wives had not uncovered this truth. They only found out because Yang Kai had told them.
Despite those seemingly cold hard facing words, Yang Ji took in a deep breath and gave a nod. “Is there really no other way? Will we continue to be misled?”
At this point, Yang Kai resolutely stated, “No. We are trying to find ways to overcome this as well. That’s why–”
Su Yan raised her hand and interjected, “Ji’er, Xu’er, this matter cannot be carelessly spread. Before we continue to speak, please swear that you will never speak of this matter to others.”
“But Mom. Shouldn’t we let everyone know? That what we are pursuing is a dead end?” Yang Ji quickly said.
“Absolutely not. There is no point in causing such mayhem in this world. Why shake the Dao Hearts of others when they might never even reach the stage to receive your realisation. My babies, please promise your Mother that you will never speak of this to anyone else who is unaware of the truth. If you can’t, then your Father and I will stop speaking of this matter with you” Su Yan declared.
It was extremely rare for their Mother to be so stern. The Twins looked at each other and swore.
““I swear.””
Su Yan gave Yang Kai a glance and he immediately continued. “Then, let me explain…”
Yang Kai started off describing how he had come to this realization. However, it was due to him hitting a seemingly insurmountable wall in the Dao of Space. This wall seemed to be ever-present in every single Dao he had mastered. All 3,000 Daos, yet, all of them have the same wall?
One might think that he had simply reached the peak, that his cultivation simply had no room left to grow. However, Yang Kai did not believe that to be the case. He did not doubt it for even a single second. After all, he had met beings of other worlds besides the 3,000 Worlds. They wielded different Principles. It could be assumed that the Daos they strived towards was different as well.
However, the differences were like variants. They were not wholly different. The rudimentary Daos like the Sword Dao and Spear Dao seem to exist in both worlds, but were different at the same time. This only became more obvious after he clashed with such beings in the Taboo Realm.
This was the secondary reason why he sought to explore other worlds, far away from the 3,000 Worlds. If there was something the Taboo Realm taught him, it was that there was so much he did not know. He, like those trapped there, were like frogs in a well.
Certainly, saving his friend Chong Jiu was important. But, the different worlds, with their different cultivation systems and different Daos definitely need to be studied. After all, it was clear that everything they had cultivated towards was a dead-end, and even the Open Heaven Realm method was flawed. The only option was to seek out the unknown for answers.
However, this matter had become quite sensitive.
Such matters could only be felt or realised by experts who had reached the pinnacle in their respective Daos. If they found out that to further their pursuit they needed to leave the 3,000 Worlds, what would happen?
Obviously, for beings who dedicated their life to their respective Daos, they would run despite their exhaustion. They would stop at nothing and continuously shrive towards their goal. After all, to get to where they were, every single one of them must have been driven and adamant.
Unfortunately, Yang Kai could not possibly allow them to leave the 3,000 Worlds unguarded. If all such experts rushed out, who could protect their 3,000 Worlds if trouble were to come?
These people did not have any clue of the destination nor the route, yet they would be more than willing to be like flies towards the flame, as long as there was said ‘opportunity’ beyond some unknown horizon.
The 3,000 Worlds could not take such risks at this time. They still had to recover from the war, and they still needed people here to guide the future generation.
Of course, some would describe Yang Kai’s actions as being too heavy handed and wary. However, Yang Kai could clearly feel that there was some unknown Force at play behind the scenes. A Force that Yang Kai was wary of, who was already in the World Creation Realm. After all, could he really create a situation whereby Little Eleven could not speak of certain matters? Could he truly gather those experts from the various worlds, without them being able to resist, and create the Taboo Realm? Were these truly made from nature? Even with his current strength, Yang Kai was not omnipotent to that degree.
So, for the sake of the 3,000 Worlds, they decided to keep this matter a secret. It would only be known amongst a few. His Wives were naturally one of those few, including Shi, Yang Xiao and Yang Xue. As for others outside of High Heaven Palace, there were few but they were people Yang Kai trusted greatly.
Since Yang Ji and Yang Xu had stumbled upon this secret themselves, and expressed their doubts, Yang Kai felt like there was no need for them to hide the truth from them. Thus, he openly stated it. In fact, he had predicted this day would eventually come. It was just, not so soon…
Yang Ji gave a nod and he asked the Heavenly Demon Queen with his Divine Sense, “Is what my Father said true? That there is an enemy that strong.”
This time, the Heavenly Demon Queen actually readily admitted, “Certainly, one that lies beyond the realm of your conception.”
“Do we have a chance against them?” Yang Ji asked with his heart starting to race.
“No.”
That one short answer made Yang Ji’s and Yang Xu’s hearts drop. If even their Father could not stand up to such a being, then who could?
However, the Heavenly Demon Queen then continued, “It is impossible while you remain confined to this realm.”
“Wait. So, if Father leaves, then we have a chance!” With hope, Yang Xu immediately exclaimed. However, the Heavenly Demon Queen did not respond, which just vexed them even more.
“Argh! Why do you stop answering whenever we need real answers!?” Yang Xu wished she could strangle this worm.
“Sister, it’s fine. I believe she is under some kind of restriction like Uncle Eleven…” Yang Ji tried to calm her down.
*Heh* Then a snicker came, which only infuriated Yang Xu even more.
“Brother, don’t you see that she is not answering on purpose!!” Yang Xu chided but Yang Ji just shook his head. “If she doesn’t want to answer, we can’t really force her to. Besides, our fates are essentially tied. She also holds no malice towards us.”
…
This conversation naturally happened within an instant, and was not perceptible by Yang Kai and Su Yan. Thus, Yang Ji had to relay what the Heavenly Demon Queen stated to his parents.
Yang Kai gave a nod and looked at Su Yan. He did not even bother demanding to see the Heavenly Demon Queen. It seemed like he knew she would refuse to see him for who knows what reason. “That was helpful. For now, I need to discuss matters with your Mother.”
Yang Xu quickly cupped her fists and bow, rushing Yang Ji along as well. She even rushed out of the place by teleporting with her Brother. Naturally, not rushed to the point it seemed suspicious though.
“What’s the rush? We rarely get to see Father. I still have a few thingsI wish to ask him.” Yang Ji said.
Yang Xu quickly answered, “Now that Father and Mother are too focused on this matter, this is the best time.”
It did not even take Yang Ji a second to realise what ‘best time’ meant. “Are you serious? We can just wait for them to allow us before doing it.”
“I trust our Mothers will support it. Also, they did say that this is an opportunity.”
Yang Ji could not believe what he was hearing. “Why are you acting like this? You normally try to avoid punishments.”
Certainly, Yang Ji was typically the one who would take the initiative, while Yang Xu would follow along. It was truly rare for her to be the one taking the initiative now, especially when they knew they would most likely get into trouble if they did this.
“Well…” Yang Xu hesitated to say.
“Hmm…” Such a response naturally drew more attention.
Unable to hide it, Yang Xu just plainly admitted. “Okay, okay. Mother Yu Ru Meng told me to do it. While you were busy cultivating, I already found out about Red Clouds Cave Heaven. The Cave Heaven Master did not even bother hiding his aura when he came here. He was basically announcing his presence. I could naturally sense it and had to ask out Mothers why someone was being so pompous. That was how I came to find out about the matter.”
“When talking to our Mothers, Mother Yu Ru Meng already told me what might happen and the plan going forward. It’s just, I could not act on it since you were busy cultivating. That time, when you shared your insight, you needed to draw Qi from me. I could not possibly do that while you were in secluded cultivation. So, I needed to wait till you got out.”
“Sorry that I kept this from you.”
Clearly, she had not sent her full memory directly to Yang Ji the first time. She even took the effort to explain how events had played out. This certainly drew Yang Ji’s attention, but he did not say anything since he would like to respect his Sister’s privacy whenever possible.
“Wait, then at the time, you were shocked about?” Yang Ji recalled what happened in that room, when their mouths were both wide open at the news.
“I was shocked that the other party acted so quickly. It’s only been around a week since they found out, you know? To have the entire Cave Heaven accept that you are going to be on par with their Elders, isn’t that ridiculous?” Yang Xu explained.
Yang Ji gave a nod, then asked, “Then, why did you feel the need to hide the plan from me?”
“Well…” Yang Xu could not say that she did not want to expose how she and the Mothers would have their ‘girls’ meetings’ from time to time. Furthermore, she did not want to say that one of their Mothers was teaching her to do ‘things’.
“A man of integrity does not intrude upon a maiden’s confidences.” That was when the Heavenly Demon Queen interjected and quickly sent a private Divine Sense message to Yang Xu, “You owe me one.”
“Fine, fine. I’ll not ask any further. If this is something that Mother Yu Ru Meng has asked us to do, then we might as well get this over with. If our Mothers are the ones holding up Heaven, then I guess even if we have every student fall into a deep coma, it would be fine.” Yang Ji rolled his eyes at this odd team up.
