Chapter 6107, Defiance City
Author: Silavin
Yang Ji looked at the man with obvious defiance in his eyes. However, since the Blood Binding Seal was already done, there was nothing this child could do about it. The man just scoffed, “I like the look in your eyes, make sure you are as defiant against death then.”
The man did not bother with Yang Ji any further. He would leave matters to Xing Ting. “Take him to the city, where you can hide. With the Blood Binding Seal, if they are tracking us using Young Misstress’ aura, they will approach him thinking he is the Young Mistress. If not, and it is worse than I hope, that someone in the Family has betrayed us and is chasing after us, I need to remain by the Young Mistress’ side.”
“Understood. I will hide out in the city.” Xing Ting said but was quickly rebuffed by the man. “No. There is no point in hiding out like a rat. We have a decoy here with us. He will play the role of a decoy. You will do as what should have been done for the Young Mistress. Make sure he checks into the Revitalisation Inn.”
“But Sir, we only have a limited quota and the Young Mistress needs the Pool of Revitalisation. If he enters…” Xing Ting wanted the man to reconsider, but he added.
“No need to worry over such matters. I can handle getting another quota. We are, after all, in the Outer Heaven. There are plenty of ways to get my hands on another quota.” The man said with his fist tightening, showing that his fist was another method he would use if needed.
“Understood…” Although still reluctant to do as told, Xing Ting abided by the order.
“Now, go get the kid and get him out of here while I stall those still after us.” The man declared and gently picked up the Young Mistress, before putting her inside a box, clearly to hide her whereabouts, if not to protect her from the aftershock of the upcoming battle.
Then, the man made a few chants, and wrote a few things in the air, before leaping up into the air and roaring, “COME! ALL YOU DOGS, COME AND FACE DEATH!”
Very soon, up in the air, beams of light could be seen gathering around the man. They were distant enough that Yang Ji could barely make out their figures. Those beams of light were obviously those people chasing after the man, Xing Ting and that Young Mistress.
Yang Ji did not know why they were gathering from other distant places, converging to one spot. However, if he had to make a guess, it might be that the Spirit Ship they were on, the one that crash landed, might not have been the only Spirit Ship those people were after.
While looking up, Yang Ji did not notice that Xing Ting had been observing him all the while. The woman was reluctant to take care of another child besides her Young Mistress, but more than that, she felt that this child that had taken up was more than meets the eye.
As if to prove her point, what child would look up at the battle of experts, with eyes not of awe or inspiration, but rather that of pure curiosity and bewilderment. It seemed as though Yang Ji was studying them rather than watching them.
And indeed, Yang Ji was doing as her intuition was saying. He was truly studying the different techniques those in the sky were employing. Even if distant, even if they were just vague figures, the methods they employed were truly eye opening. He wondered if he could do them one day.
For example, how the man created the Blood Binding Seal or that protective layer that protected the box the Young Mistress was in. Yang Ji had never even seen such techniques before. They were so abstruse, he merely saw the man drawing in the air. Yang Ji could not grasp the concept behind those moves, or what he had written.
It was obvious that some other Principle was at play, something that the 3,000 Worlds lacked.
The battle above was exactly that. What seemed to be Artifacts, of varying shapes, were being used. Techniques that did not solely rely on weapons, sound was a weapon, sight was a weapon, even one’s drawings could be used as weapons. Fists? Using fists was to be expected, but there was an expert up there making strange hand gestures before delivering a punch, executing it and making glowing rings appear around his wrist.
All manner of techniques Yang Ji had never seen before were being played out up above. Upon seeing such a scene, Yang Ji could not move his eyes away.
Still, it was not like Yang Ji could be allowed to enjoy the show for much longer. As if impatient at him for not moving, Xing Ting finally spoke up, “We’re moving.”
She did not hesitate to carry Yang Ji away, in a princess carry, leaving behind the real Young Mistress on the ground, hidden in a box. With a single leap, she easily flew into the air, covering kilometres in one go.
Yang Ji did not bother himself with whatever this woman was doing. Besides, he was already being dressed as a girl, being carried like this did not matter much. His Mothers and Sisters did this when he was younger as well–dressed him like a princess for fun. Right now, he just wanted to carry on watching the battle.
He could not help but ask Wu Lun, using his Divine Sense, “Will I be able to do that someday?”
“‘That’? What do you mean? You need to be more specific.” Wu Lun responded.
“You know, the ability to draw something and then have it contain some kind of power.”
“You mean the power of Runes? Ah, well, hard to say. Some of these things are based on one’s affinity with the True Dao. The True Dao of Runes is actually closely related to the True Dao of Spirit Arrays. Like in your world, one needs to have the amplitude to be able to comprehend such Daos.” Wu Lun said honestly, without any mincing of words. “But what makes this more interesting compared to all the others? They are using a wide variety of Techniques, showcasing various True Daos.”
“It just seemed like the hardest to learn.” Yang Ji confessed, there was no particular reason for it, except that this seemed like the most challenging one to learn.
At this point, Wu Lun seemed to be in deep thought over something, but he no longer spoke. Likewise, Yang Ji did not continue to ask. After all, part of the fun in taking on a challenge was discovering this mystery on his own. Like the Dao of Space, even if he and Yang Xu had Yang Kai’s advice from time to time, most of his own mastery over this Dao was from his own discoveries.
So, he continued to watch the battle with intent, studying the different runes the man made to cause golden chains to wrap around his enemies.
However, these chains were too weak to keep those true experts at bay. With the Artifacts in their disposal, how could they be kept contained with a simple Technique?
Out of the eight figures besieging the man, two had broken free from their restraints and they continued to attack. One kept the man busy, while the other tried to free the other collaborators.
Yang Ji watched on, not paying attention to any of the others besieging the man. He was solely focused on the man and how his hand moved.
Unfortunately, Xing Ting was far too fast. She easily made it up the floating island and placed Yang Ji down, grabbing his attention. “Follow me.”
Her tone was cold as she refitted the cloth around his head, which was an Artifact used to hide one’s appearance. She grabbed his hand after she was done, tugging him forward into the site Wu Lun wanted Yang Ji to go…
Defiance City.
One of the few cities within the Outer Heaven, founded based on the Pool of Revitalisation.
Out of all the cities in the Outer Heaven, Defiance City was relatively small. However, it could be considered one of the more prosperous cities. After all, this was a city that even people from the Inner Heaven might visit.
However, when there was light, there would always be darkness. Due to the discrimination against those of the Lower Realm, there was a clear distinction between those of a higher class and those of a lower class.
Upon landing on the floating island, outside the city, the first sight that greeted Yang Ji was not the prosperity of the city, but rather the remnants of what the city did not want. In other words, dilapidated settlements outside the city walls.
In response, Yang Ji could only nod.
Seeing such a sight, Yang Ji could not help but get taken aback and stop for a moment. However, Xing Ting continued to drag him through the area. She explicitly warned him, “Do not speak, do not look at any of them. Young Mistress must never be found to be associated with such beings.”
