Chapter 1080: Three Consecutive Victories
The once bustling stands fell deathly silent when Wang Dao hit the ground. The atmosphere suddenly turned muted as the students from the sage colleges revealed expressions of disbelief.
The seven-pearl Wang Dao had been defeated by the five-pearl Li Luo with just a single strike.
How had this happened?
They could all see that Wang Dao had never let his guard down for even moment during their confrontation. He had immediately utilized his mightiest killing move, a Duke Art.
When the situation culminated in a clash, one Duke Art was crushed like a brittle twig.
The issue was that Wang Dao's Duke Art was the one that had been destroyed!
The numerous gazes then turned towards the figure who was still stationary in his previous attacking pose. The ferocious aura that surrounded his body gave off the impression of an unsheathed godly weapon, sending chills down everyone's spines.
His combat power was truly terrifying. It was not surprising that he was in the Empyrean Chronicle.
"My God! That guy is way too frightening!" Sun Dasheng was flabbergasted as he stared at Li Luo.
Lu Ming looked stunned as well, then her gaze turned complicated. Thinking back to the Holy Grail Meet, she was capable of exchanging blows with Li Luo at the time. Alas, the gap between the two was now an unbreachable abyss.
"Is this the advantage conferred by the inner divine continent? It's no wonder the inner divine continent sage colleges feel superior to us," Lu Ming bitterly commented.
If one were to discount the fact that he possessed prodigious talent, Li Luo's gigantic leap in strength could only have been due to the amazing cultivation resources that had access to. This was something the outer divine continents could not compare with.
"Li Luo's resonance art is also a true Duke Art!" Sun Dasheng's gaze had turned feverish. Only those from the outer divine continents would know how difficult it was to learn a real Duke Art at their cultivation level. Although Heavenly Pearls had it easier, those who were capable of wielding one were rare and far between.
"His Duke Art is also at a high realm. If i'm not wrong, he has already reached Grand Perfection," Jing Taixu said in a gloomy voice.
Thinking back to the Holy Grail Meet, the Enlightened Sage College's Lan Lan had borrowed the power of the Enlightened Sage Scripture Duke Art to suppress the geniuses of the opposing sage colleges.
However, the Enlightened Sage Scripture had been created by their college's principal and was not extraordinary. Even then, the conditions to master it were harsh, and even Jing Taixu had suffered without success when he had the opportunity to learn it.
It was because he had personally experienced one that he could feel that Li Luo's Duke Art possessed a glamor, which made this fact even more shocking.
On the Heavenly Origin Ancient College's viewing area, Mo Yun and Lu Ying were similarly taken aback.
"Doesn't the Duke Art Li Luo just used resemble our college's Underworld River's Black Dragon Banner?" one of the students suddenly asked.
The rest nodded. That Duke Art was something they were familiar with as a few elites had already been given access to Duke Arts. Those who met the criteria would choose that art because it held great potential in its completed form as the Three Dragons' Heavenly Banner Canon.
It was an almighty Destiny-grade Duke Art, and it was considered a peerless treasure even in the ancient colleges.
"The most important part isn't that Li Luo used the Underworld River's Black Dragon Banner. It's the fact that he has already reached the Grand Perfection realm with it," Zong Sha explained.
He then turned towards Mo Yun and asked, "If I remember correctly, you're cultivating the Heavenly Judgment's Silver Dragon Banner. Have you reached Grand Perfection yet?"
Mo Yun's eyelids twitched. Grand Perfection? He had shed immense amounts of blood, sweat, and tears on the art, yet he had only managed to cultivate it to the Greater Completion realm. Bringing it to Grand Perfection would likely only be possible when he reached the Greater Heavenly Resonance Tier.
Amongst their peers, a Greater Completion Duke Art was considered an exceptional trump card. Only one of the freaks in the Heavenly Star Hall was capable of accomplishing that.
"A Grand Perfection Duke Art is indeed a mighty killing move. However, one's strength is what's fundamentally important at the end of the day. Wang Dao is simply weaker, but if it were someone at the Lesser Heavenly Resonance Tier, Li Luo would not have achieved this result. Additionally, the sage colleges from the outer divine continents have weaker foundations. From what I hear, only a small minority of students are able to interact with ordinary Duke Arts," Mo Yun commented dryly.
Jiang Wanyu rolled her eyes at him as she asked indifferently, "How do you know if this is Li Luo's strongest move?"
She could still vividly remember how Li Luo had an even more terrifying Duke Art up his sleeve. The sheer might it possessed far outstripped the Grand Perfection Underworld River's Black Dragon Banner.
When Mo Yun heard Jiang Wanyu's hidden praise for Li Luo, his heart felt a little uncomfortable. However, he did not reveal any change in his mood, only continuing, "The way I see it, if he were to encounter a Lesser Heavenly Resonance Tier opponent, he wouldn't be able to do much."
Whilst the crowd continued to chatter, the referee—who had finally come back to his senses—loudly announced that Li Luo had won.
When the referee's voice resounded through the field, Li Luo saw an emerald-green leaf gradually descend. When he reached out to grab it, it landed on his palm before melting away. A moment later, a stream of warm and pure energy gently surged into his body, replenishing all of the resonant power he had consumed and healing his wounds.
Although he had not been injured, the leaf's rejuvenative properties were meant to allow the students to quickly readjust their states and proceed with the competition.
When Li Luo glanced at Wang Dao and the rest, he also saw similar leaves fall upon them, fusing with their bodies and allowing them to rise up once again.
"The Heavenly Origin Ancient College has thought things through," he murmured to himself.
He then jumped into the air. The platform beneath him gradually shrank in size, and he arrived back at Astral Sage College's seats a few breaths later.
Upon landing, Mentor Chi Chan eyed him intently before saying, "Li Luo, I wouldn't dare to call you my student any longer with how amazing you are."
Li Luo waved his hand in response. "What are you trying to say, Mentor? I'm only at the five-pearl tier now. Wait for me to reach the King Stage before you say such words. It won't be too late then."
"How pompous." Mentor Chi Chan rolled her eyes, but seeing how she couldn't hide the happiness within them, it was clear she was extremely pleased with Li Luo's performance.
"Five-pearl tier cultivation and a Grand Perfection Duke Art. Li Luo, if this news were sent back to the Astral Sage College, it might very well demoralize Yu Lang and Qin Zhulu." Chi Chan sighed.
"I don't have a choice. Someone has to tell them that the harsh truths of the world are cruel." Li Luo lamented sincerely.
Mentor Chi Chan's smile deepened as she shook her head and asked, "How is your energy consumption? I'm afraid there may be intense battles ahead."
Li Luo shook his hand as he replied humbly, "A seven-pearl opponent isn't a big deal."
With his current strength, unless it was a nine-pearl genius, individuals at the Heavenly Pearl Tier would not be enough to give him pressure.
Mentor Chi Chan seemed extremely satisfied. His confidence did give others a sense of comfort.
In any event, the academic evaluation continued.
In the next hour, Li Luo went through another two fights, both being single battles. The competition went smoothly as he did not encounter any troublesome foes.
Unknowingly, Li Luo had already put the Astral Sage College at tier three despite being solo.
This allowed him to enter the upper bracket.
His three consecutive victories had caused the people who had mocked him to turn solemn. At this point, they could not understand just how a five-pearl was able to burst forth with the strength of at least an eight-pearl. It was difficult for anyone at the Heavenly Pearl Tier to compete with him.
Li Luo had encountered an eight-pearl opponent in the third battle. Although the opponent was not decimated by a single strike, Li Luo held the upper hand the entire way and eventually won.
At this point, everyone understood that if he did not encounter the peak experts at the Lesser Heavenly Resonance Tier, there might be no one capable of stopping him.
Of course, things might be different if he were to engage in a group battle.
As this thought lingered in the crowd's minds, Li Luo drew a red lot for his fourth battle.
