Chapter 1699: Dragon's Domain
Word of what had happened to the Chi family spread to almost every corner of the East Sea Region over the next half a month. Even the Beast Tamer's Alliance had sent a congratulatory gift, affirming Chi Chan's status as the new Matriarch. All words of dissatisfaction and protest vanished overnight with it.
All of the powers in the East Sea Region were taken aback. They understood that the Beast Tamer's Alliance had acknowledged Chi Chan, and they also knew that it was purely because of the man who stood behind her: the Ten Resonances King, Li Luo.
In the meantime, Li Luo completely ignored the affairs of the outside world and remained with the Chi family. After all, Chi Chan had just taken control, the branch family was weak, and there were numerous obstacles ahead of them. That said, Chi Chan did not involve him in those trivial matters. She had demonstrated a decisive and ruthless side that she had never shown in the Astral Sage College, and with the speed and force of a thunderbolt, she had destroyed all of the opposition in the main branch.
Chi Chan used the sealing technique to force Chi Li to take action, along with the factions who had been close to him. When a steward who was originally only loyal to Chi Li's branch had been flattened to a pulp by Chi Li himself, the relationships he had painstakingly cultivated over the years were ruined.
In just a few short days, Chi Chan had transformed the power structure of the main family, placing those from the branch family in key positions and bringing the two sides into balance. Although there would still be friction for years to come, the main family's oppression of the branch family would definitely change.
After stabilizing the situation, Chi Chan began to accept Chi Wenwu's legacy through the family's secret art. This would allow her strength to rise to the next level, and possibly enter the King Stage. The secret art was truly quite impressive, enough to make Li Luo sigh in admiration. The reason the Chi family had remained at the top of the East Sea Region for so many years was because of the art.
As Li Luo personally watched over and protected them, the transmission of the legacy proceeded smoothly. Chi Wenwu's life force swiftly dissipated and the resonant power undulations within Chi Chan's body began to intensify at shocking speeds. The process took ten days.
Although Chi Chan had completely inherited the legacy, she had yet to enter the King Stage. It would take some time to digest all of the power she had received, so her breakthrough would surely come soon. Chi Wenwu, on the other hand, had made his final contribution to his clan, and Chi Chan then accorded him the grandest of funerals.
.......
Li Luo and Chi Chan were standing side by side on Chi City's northern walls, basking in the light of the setting sun, its warmth wrapping around them like red robes.
"Mentor Chi Chan, there's no need to see me off," said Li Luo as he flashed a smile at the woman who now gave off a regal aura.
"Thank you, Li Luo." Chi Chan's eyes were filled with complex emotions as she looked at the youth. Her position had changed greatly in the short span of a month, and it was all because of Li Luo. She didn't know how she could possibly repay his kindness. Thinking back, she had never expected that going against Shen Jinxiao in the Choosing of the Mentors would have led to such a situation.
"Don't I look cool?" Li Luo grinned, completely devoid of the terrifying aura he had displayed to the public.
Chi Chan wryly smiled and nodded. "Very cool."
Li Luo's smile turned warmer as he softly said, "No matter how cool I am, I will never be as cool as you were when you threw away your position as a mentor to stand against House Lanling."
When Li Luo had first heard of what she had done, he was moved. He never would have expected that his wise mentor would make such a reckless decision. Li Luo was so grateful to her that had squashed the feud between the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li and the Imperial Beast Hall, choosing to form a better relationship with Lin Miao. It was all to ensure that Chi Chan would have a smooth path ahead.
Chi Chan blushed slightly as she said, "I don't think I'll ever have a more outstanding moment in my life." She then fell silent for a few moments and continued, "Honestly, I'd much rather be a mentor in the Astral Sage College than the Matriarch of the Chi family." If not for her parents, she would never have come back here.
"When the day comes that you no longer wish to be the Matriarch, you can always come back to the Astral Sage College. If you want, I can even recommend you to be the Principal," said Li Luo with a grin.
Chi Chan smiled and nodded.
After which, Li Luo sensed Lin Miao's aura and knew it was time to leave. He thus waved goodbye to Chi Chan. "Take care, Mentor Chi Chan."
Then he soared into the sky, leaving a trail of light in his wake. He was like a shooting star vanishing across the horizon. Chi Chan remained on the city wall, looking in the direction Li Luo had vanished in. Her bright eyes reflected the setting sun, which was slipping slowly into the distance, causing the world to gradually dim. She stood as still as a statue for quite a long time.
......
As Li Luo left the East Sea Region, the void opened up and Lin Miao strode out. The two didn't say much; they merely pushed their speed to the limit as they traversed the mountains and seas, eventually reaching the region of the spirit beasts.
The worldly natural energy here was violent and rough, and the air felt wild and untamed. Gigantic beasts could be seen shuttling around the mountains and the seas. The duo didn't take the time to appreciate the sights though—they headed straight towards the Dragon Race's territory. Two days later, they arrived at the Dragons' Domain.
The Dragons' Domain was an extremely vast region that was breathtaking to look at. Ancient mountains stretched into the sky akin to skygrazing giants, connecting the earth and the heavens. In between were countless dragons who soared through the open air. They could be found coiling on mountaintops, absorbing the worldly natural energy and letting out earth-shaking roars. Among the many mountains were humongous palaces, each exuding an archaic aura, standing tall and glittering with light.
There were also countless seas and lakes throughout the region, covering such a wide expanse that one couldn't see where they ended. Numerous titanic shadows flitted around underwater.
Lin Miao led Li Luo to a particular palace where the Dragon Race welcomed guests. However, when he arrived, a resonant cry sounded out from a mountain, and Li Luo saw a dragon hurtling towards him. That particular dragon was slender and graceful, emanating an elegant aura, completely at odds with the usual, brutish roughness one would expect from the Dragon Race. Their scales were green like jade, appearing crystal-clear under the sunlight. They emanated a medicinal fragrance that wafted through the mountains. That dragon looked at Li Luo with sparkling eyes.
"A Pharmacist Jade Dragon?" said Lin Miao, a little taken aback. That type of dragon had an exceptionally high standing in the Dragon Race, second only to the Heavenly Dragons, so he had not expected to be greeted by one.
As Li Luo looked at the green dragon, he could sense their energy undulations and knew that they were a Single Crowned King. Furthermore, he could sense a hint of a familiar aura. A moment later, a disarming and sincere smile appeared on his face.
"Senior Hongyou!?"
