Chapter 3088: DodgeEditor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
"Mm," Fang Heng nodded lightly. "It was me."
"Huh?"
Kapa froze, staring blankly at Fang Heng.
What did that mean?
"Abe Akaya and the game’s spatial teleportation had some issues. We had encountered similar problems earlier on the ship. I was worried, so I looked for a safe place to run a test."
Kapa and Cole Karot exchanged glances.
Uh...
So Mr. Fang’s idea of a "safe place" was the sewer not far from the spawns’ headquarters in the Seven Realms Martial Capital?
"You’ve had a hard time. You must have been harassed by the spawns recently—probably quite unpleasant," Fang Heng said as he looked up at the towering building. "Since we’re already here, I might as well help you vent some frustration."
He wasn’t really doing it with any deep motive.
The zombie clones had successfully entered the real world through the teleportation passage controlled by Abe Akaya. If they returned directly to the villa’s basement through the sewers, they could easily be tracked, and that would bring a lot of trouble to him.
Fang Heng still planned to remain in the Noel Clan to continue his cultivation.
It would be better to just send the zombie clones off directly and let them respawn in the villa’s basement.
If he had to send them somewhere, why not here?
Might as well launch a frontal assault on the spawns’ building!
"Alright, awesome!" Kapa’s eyes lit up immediately. He nodded excitedly, thinking Mr. Fang was a true brother, coming here just to help them get revenge!
As they spoke, a commotion arose at the entrance of the sealed-off sewer domain not far away.
Kapa quickly climbed onto Cole Karot’s shoulder to get a better view.
The security team that had entered the underground passage earlier came running out in a complete mess.
The perimeter guards didn’t even have time to ask questions before large numbers of mutant worms surged out from the outer side of the underground passage!
Mutant worms!
Where did they come from? And why were there so many!?
Captain Barin, who was still urging the team to put on protective suits, was startled at the sight of the sudden swarm and immediately issued attack orders.
"Whoosh! Whoosh whoosh!!!"
Beam weapons unleashed high-frequency piercing light beams.
"Bang! Bang bang!!"
The beams landed on the exteriors of the mutant worms but didn’t penetrate and blow bloody holes through them as expected—instead, they exploded on contact!
They were ineffective?!
The Seven Realms Martial Capital’s guard team wasn’t weak. They were elite members selected through rigorous trials, physically far superior to ordinary people. But they weren’t specialized in combat. Their strongest offensive capabilities lay in beam weapons and energy beam swords for melee combat.
Seeing that ranged beam weapons were completely useless, panic quickly spread.
What kind of mutant worms were these?
How could their defense be so strong?
Only when multiple beams concentrated fire on a single worm would the resulting explosion have enough impact to knock the creature backward.
"Retreat!"
As the mutant worms closed in, Barin shouted to his team to abandon the defensive line and retreat to the sides.
Huh?
They weren’t being chased?
The guards at the front who fled first felt a sense of relief when they realized they were still alive.
When they looked up again, they saw that in almost no time, the mutant worms had broken through the guard team’s line of defense.
But the worms didn’t pursue the guards—instead, they charged eastward, rapidly breaching that defensive line.
What did it mean? The swarm didn’t seem aggressive?
Barin showed a trace of confusion in his eyes. Before he could relax, he noticed the direction the mutant worms were heading, and his expression turned stiff again.
Damn it! The mutant worms were heading straight for the spawns’ building.
Were these creatures specifically targeting the spawns?
He looked back. There was no sign the crisis was ending. More and more mutant worms continued to pour out from the sewers.
But it appeared that the swarm had no hostility toward them.
Barin furrowed his brow.
The swarm looked terrifying, but they didn’t seem to be harming the guard team. His elite squads were all scared half to death but hadn’t suffered any real casualties.
As long as they got out of the way, the swarm didn’t pursue.
A guard rushed up to Barin, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and cautiously asked, "Captain, what do we do?"
Barin glanced at his subordinate.
You’re asking me? What do you want me to do?
He was only paid to do so much.
There was no way he was going to throw his life away.
Barin replied gruffly, "Did you report everything to the spawns?"
"Yes, we’ve reported the full situation to them. They should already be preparing inside the building."
"Alright then, just wait. Tell the brothers: these mutant worms aren’t normal. They’re most likely heading straight for the spawns. Stay out of the way, play it safe. No point getting killed—it’s not worth it."
"Understood."
The guard and security teams couldn’t stop the swarm anyway, so they gave up, retreated quickly, extended the perimeter, and simply stood back and watched as the massive number of mutant worms kept pouring from underground and swarmed toward the spawns’ headquarters.
The terrifying number...
There had to be at least ten thousand...
Even though danger had erupted, a crowd of rowdy onlookers remained at the street corner behind the scene, not wanting to leave.
Most of them were quite confident in their own strength.
Paka shrank his neck slightly as he watched from within the crowd.
That many worms... The spawns were really going to suffer.
As the swarm rapidly approached, the entire spawns building entered first-grade alert status.
The spawns’ guardian team was stunned. They felt extremely unlucky.
Who could have predicted that something like this would happen—mutant worms launching a full-scale assault on the spawns’ headquarters in the heart of the Seven Realms Martial Capital? This wasn’t a main base in a danger zone—the perimeter of this city-center building didn’t even have any defensive facilities!
Seeing the endless swarm, the front-line guards had already set up several layers of defense nets at the building’s entrance.
"Fire!!"
A dense wave of energy beams swept forward like a blanket.
Ineffective!
The area attacks were completely resisted by the Lickers’ defensive capabilities.
The Lickers pressed forward through the damage, charging toward the building without hesitation.
"Don’t fall back! Hold the line!"
The guards at the building entrance broke out in cold sweat as the swarm approached. They quickly switched to high-frequency energy beam swords and prepared for close combat.
After all, in previous fights, the mutant worms had never engaged in direct melee.
Maybe these mutant worms weren’t good at close combat?
But just as a guard stepped into a Licker’s attack range, the Licker leapt forward and closed the distance instantly.
"Whoosh!"
A sharp claw slashed through the air.
The protective suit worn by the building’s security guard activated its energy shield, forming an invisible barrier. The claw scraped across the guard’s chest with a shower of sparks, and the guard was violently knocked flying backward!
