Chapter 3315: The Fall

Chapter 3315: The FallEditor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

"Yes, Shadow God, but once we leave the protection zone of the magic array, it will be extremely dangerous. We might suddenly encounter high-tier heroic spirits far stronger than ourselves, and the spiritual world is vast. If we are not careful, we could lose our way and be unable to find the route back to the magic array, becoming forever lost in the spiritual world."

"Mm."

Fang Heng nodded in understanding.

The Holy Spirit Temple was equivalent to opening dozens of teleportation entrances across the vast spiritual world, each surrounded and protected by magic arrays.

Around every entrance, there were wandering spirits available for Adam and the others to capture.

The higher the level and danger of the entrance, the more expensive the teleportation fee would be.

Zane gave a cold snort and said disdainfully, "Hmph, such a useless believer. You chose a Tier 2 teleportation array from the start. Fine, hurry up and absorb three more spirits."

Adam let out a sigh of relief. The spiritual blade wrapped in soul flame reappeared in his hand as he looked up into the air, searching for his next spirit.

That one!

Adam locked onto a light-blue heroic spirit with his mental strength. Almost instantly, fine chains appeared all over the heroic spirit’s body, binding it and pulling it slowly toward him.

"Chi!"

Adam slashed almost effortlessly at the heroic spirit.

"Boom!!!"

With one strike, the heroic spirit’s body exploded completely.

Whoosh!!

The weakened heroic spirit was quickly drawn into Adam’s Spirit Orb.

"So this is the feeling of power..."

Adam couldn’t help but mutter to himself.

The same type of heroic spirit that once required countless trials and effort to capture now fell effortlessly under the Shadow God’s aid.

Zane saw Adam standing there in a daze again and couldn’t help cursing, "What’s wrong with you, believer? Why are you still standing there like an idiot? What are you staring at?"

"Ah, y-yes!"

Adam snapped out of his daze and quickly rushed toward another heroic spirit.

Around the magic array area, there were still many other apprentice oracles. Most were focusing on restoring their mental strength through meditation or capturing heroic spirits of their own, so few noticed Adam’s situation. Those who happened to glance his way were only briefly surprised, thinking his strength was incredible.

After Adam finished gathering five heroic spirits, he quickly returned to the center of the magic array and chanted a silent prayer.

His spiritual body resonated faintly with the magic array.

When he opened his eyes again, his spiritual consciousness had returned to his body.

"If you’re done, please leave."

The oracle standing outside the magic array saw that Adam had returned after only a short ten minutes and assumed he had failed. Speaking coldly, he gestured for Adam to leave.

Adam’s mind was in turmoil. He clasped his hands toward the guard and hurried away.

Shadow God?

Who exactly was that?

Could it be an Evil God?

According to the teachings of the Church, any deity outside of the God Clan was considered an Evil God.

But the Shadow God didn’t seem like one.

No, wait! Who would ever call themselves an Evil God?

What should he do now?

Had he been targeted by an Evil God?

Should he report this to the Holy Church?

No!

If he did that, everything would be over!

He had already accepted the Evil God’s money and aid—he was no longer pure.

If he confessed, he would be sent to the Inquisition!

Then what would happen to him? What about his parents and his two younger brothers?

No... even if the Inquisition didn’t punish him, without the Shadow God’s help, how could he possibly pass the Academy’s final assessment?

What should he do?

Adam shook his head violently, not daring to think further. He could only take one step at a time, quickly leaving the Temple of Heroic Spirits and jogging through the narrow alleys toward the eastern district market of the city.

Although Zane could not read Adam’s thoughts, he could vaguely sense his emotions.

Having deceived believers for many years, Zane could easily guess Adam’s thoughts from his emotional fluctuations. He whispered to Fang Heng, "Fang Heng, my boy, this kid’s already hooked. Soon he’ll be completely devoted to me."

So slow.

Still not as efficient as a single ’ding.’

Fang Heng secretly shook his head and said, "Forget it. Let’s just keep watching."

...

Holy Eagle Nation.

Saint Academy.

After visiting several shops in the market and bargaining hard, Adam finally bought all the necessary materials and hurried back to the academy. He used his school credits to rent an inscription workshop.

Now, Adam sat at the center of the workshop, laying out the materials he had bought and preparing for the next step.

After capturing heroic spirits, the next step was to forge them into soul warrior spirits.

Zane and Fang Heng, one in shadow form and the other in soul body form, floated silently behind Adam, watching his every move with curiosity.

Adam meditated briefly to restore his mental state to its peak, then steadied his breathing and spread out an old goatskin scroll before him, placing it within the circular mark at the center of the room.

The goatskin scroll was painted with a large magic array, with several empty slots within the pattern.

Fang Heng narrowed his eyes slightly.

He examined the layout of the workshop and the magic array drawn on the scroll.

So that was how it worked.

The entire magic array on the scroll corresponded to the runes inscribed across the room, combining to form a large, composite magic array.

It was roughly a semi-finished, simplified ritual-type array.

Adam carefully placed each of the materials he had purchased into the matching slots on the goatskin scroll. Finally, he placed the Heroic Spirit Orb into the central circular socket.

Begin!

"Pa!"

Adam pressed both hands down hard onto the magic array.

"Buzz..."

As his mental strength poured in, the heroic spirits sealed within the orb began to react, their spiritual constructs slowly levitating into the air.

The goatskin scroll released waves of spiritual energy, and the alchemical inscriptions carved around the room began to glow faintly.

Dark-golden runes surged forth, spreading over the levitating spirit and gradually condensing an external layer of divine armor around its body.

The drain on Adam’s mental strength was immense, beads of sweat forming densely on his forehead.

After nearly fifteen minutes, the armor around the spirit’s form had fully solidified, and the dark-golden divine rune engraved on its brow slowly faded away.

The alchemical inscriptions and the light from the magic array dimmed.

The soul warrior spirit descended slowly to the ground, standing before Adam.

Done!

He had finally completed a Tier 2 soul warrior spirit!

Adam wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling a bit of relief after keeping his concentration so tense for so long.

Zane, who had watched the entire process, turned to Fang Heng and asked, "Fang Heng, my boy, this seems like a technique of the God Clan, doesn’t it? Do you understand it?"

"Yeah, more or less."

Fang Heng nodded lightly.

It wasn’t actually a method of the God Clan.

From his understanding, the technique Adam used was likely a variation of puppet arts.

Puppet arts were a branch of alchemy.

Of course, the step of imprinting a spiritual brand and the subsequent formation of holy armor on the soul warrior spirit used a branch of sacred studies.
