Chapter 3344: Reading a BookEditor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
On this trip, Fang Heng mainly focused his mission on two key points.
The first was the soul warrior spirits.
According to Adam, the levels of soul warrior spirits were the same as those of spirit constructs, with the highest being Tier 18.
At present, the highest-level Holy Spirit Temple was located in the Central God Nation, capable of reaching up to Tier 16.
In addition, starting from Tier 10, high-level Heroic Spirit Orbs were required for storage, while Tier 15 and above required top-tier Heroic Spirit Orbs.
High-level Heroic Spirit Orbs were available in limited quantities on the market, but top-tier ones were strictly controlled by the Church.
Fang Heng thought about seeing if he could find a way to acquire a large quantity of high-level Heroic Spirit Orbs.
Ideally, he hoped to obtain the method of making them.
The second objective, however, was more difficult.
He needed to find a way to understand the spiritual world’s specific structure without alerting the God Clan.
He wanted to find out how the God Clan entered the spiritual world, and if possible, devise a way to block their entry, thereby claiming the spiritual world completely for himself.
After taking control of the city’s main Church headquarters, Fang Heng had Adam quickly take over all the city’s subordinate churches and the Netherworld guardian zones. But even though Adam and Augustine acted with great caution, two instructors from the subordinate churches still noticed something wrong and completely disappeared.
It was highly likely they would report the turmoil in Holy Eagle City to the Church.
Fang Heng was well aware that his time was rapidly running out.
After entering the city, Adam first went to the Eastern Empire’s main Church to visit the president, Bruno.
The God Clan had established the central Church in the Central God Nation and also set up branch Churches in the Four Great Empires to oversee all city Churches.
"It’s an honor to meet you, President Bruno. When I was in Eagle City, I often heard of your accomplishments."
"Those are just empty praises. Please, have a seat."
Bruno, his hair gray and eyes behind thick glasses, took the letter of recommendation Adam handed him and examined it. He couldn’t help but let out a quiet sound of surprise, then looked up at Adam, "You’ve already advanced to an eighth-tier oracle?"
"I am deeply grateful for the Church’s years of cultivation," Adam replied.
"Very good, very good indeed. At your age, even in the Central Holy Land, you would be considered exceptionally talented." Bruno nodded lightly and continued, "Maxim speaks very highly of you. I trust you won’t disappoint us. We’ll prepare a letter recommending you to participate in the Church’s assessment at the end of this month."
"As for your further studies, hold on a moment—I’ll make a call."
Bruno picked up the phone on his desk and said a few words to the person on the other end.
Soon, there was a knock at the door.
A young woman with long golden hair walked in from outside.
Celia had fair skin and a cool, distant expression that made her seem difficult to approach.
"Teacher."
"Mm. This is Celia. She’s a student at the Holy Church Academy, about your age. Since you’re both young, you’ll probably have more in common. She’ll help you register your student identity and settle in at the academy."
"Thank you."
Adam nodded slightly in gratitude.
"Oh, by the way," Bruno suddenly seemed to recall something and looked up. "Adam, are you close with Bishop Maxim?"
"Yes, Bishop Maxim personally taught me. He’s a very respectable elder."
"Did you see him when you left? How has his health been lately? Is he well?"
"Thank you for your concern. My teacher has been in good health," Adam paused, then continued, "Recently, he gained some new insights and was in seclusion cultivating when I left."
"I see. No wonder he’s been unreachable these days."
Bruno nodded thoughtfully and said, "Alright then, you can focus on your studies here for now. Celia will help you complete your exchange student registration. The carriage downstairs is ready—they’ll take you to your dormitory. Celia will meet you outside the dorm later."
"Yes."
Adam thanked him again and bowed before leaving.
...
The dormitory arranged for Adam was located near the gates of the Holy Church Academy.
Celia had been waiting there for quite some time.
She watched Adam step down from the carriage, her eyes filled with curiosity.
A young man from a small, remote city.
Was he really strong enough to take part in the Tier 8 oracle assessment at such a young age?
"Adam, I’ll take you to the academy first to complete your registration."
Celia gestured and led Adam toward the school.
As they entered, students on both sides turned to look at them.
The Holy Church Central Academy gathered the brightest talents from across the Eastern Empire, and Celia was one of the most outstanding among them. She had reached Tier 7 oracle level within just two years of entering the school and was said to be preparing to break through to Tier 8 this year.
So who was the person walking beside her?
They had never seen him before.
With a handwritten recommendation letter from Bishop Maxim of the Nasi City main Church, the academy’s administration quickly processed the registration.
Adam successfully received his student identification card.
"Your student ID marks you as an invited exchange student. You’re allowed to sit in on classes and use the school’s various facilities. The card also contains 5,000 points provided by the Church as your study fund."
"Thank you."
Celia’s eyes showed a hint of challenge, "Our Nasi City is known for its strong martial culture. I heard your strength is quite good. You’ll face plenty of challenges here. Do you want me to take you to the dojo?"
"No, I’d like to visit the library."
"Huh? The library?"
What was that about?
Students recommended from the Eastern Empire to study at the academy were all genius-level talents, most of them proud and self-assured. When they arrived, they almost always went straight to the arena to issue challenges.
And nearly all of them ended up being humbled by the academy’s geniuses.
After all, in big cities, wealthy families provided abundant resources and top-tier training, combined with exceptional talent, enough to firmly suppress commoners.
Adam, however, chose not to go to the arena but to the library.
Celia found that answer very unexpected. She frowned slightly and said, "Alright, I’ll take you there."
The two walked along a small path toward the back area of the academy.
Before long, Fang Heng saw the large semicircular building located in the rear section of the academy—the Eastern Region Central Library.
It was the largest library in the world.
The entire library had six floors and was only open to academy students and Church members.
"We’re here."
Celia led Fang Heng into the library.
The first-floor hall of the library was quite empty. In a society dominated by faith in the Church, the academy placed much greater emphasis on personal strength, and theoretical knowledge offered little direct help in that regard, so very few students ever came.
The entire library hall was quiet, with only two or three students seated inside.
Adam asked, "Where can I find books related to the spiritual world and the Netherworld?"
"Uh..."
Celia was momentarily at a loss for words.
Since joining the academy, she had only been here three times.
And since the question wasn’t about cultivation books, she had no idea where to look.
"It’s alright. I’ll find them myself."
Fang Heng, inhabiting Adam’s body, gave Zane a quick glance.
Zane understood immediately, transforming into a patch of imperceptible shadow and swiftly spreading into the deeper parts of the library.
