Fayman took the thick stack of files from his assistant and handed them toward Fang Heng. "After losing contact for a thousand years, we displayed it as an exhibit to offset the storage fees. This is stated in Supplementary Clause No. 2809. You may check it."

Fang Heng did not reach out to take it; he only said, "We want to retrieve what belongs to our Ouroboros."

"Of course. May I ask if you have the claim token?"

A token?

Fang Heng froze for a moment and looked at Xia Xi beside him.

Xia Xi also frowned slightly.

What token?

They had never heard of such a thing.

The smile on Fayman’s face did not change. "My apologies, but without the token, this becomes rather difficult. The auction house has its rules. All deposits and withdrawals must strictly follow procedure. Since it was an item left by a client, we cannot casually hand it to strangers. Don’t you agree?"

"Manager Fayman," Pena spoke calmly, "This is the new Seed of Ouroboros Beetle King. He is my friend. Please make an exception."

"So he is the Beetle King."

A trace of surprise flashed in Fayman’s eyes as he cupped his hands toward Fang Heng.

"Lady Pena, respected Beetle King, it is not that I refuse to give you face. It is just... the situation is special."

Fayman looked troubled. He sorted out his thoughts and continued, "As you said, that client claimed to be the Ouroboros Beetle King. At the time, he deposited twenty-two obsidian boxes here. The token he left was an emblem imprint."

"Several eras have passed since then. Our auction house has strictly kept this agreement and safeguarded the items. To retrieve them, the emblem is required."

Xia Xi’s expression turned colder and asked, "So, what you mean is that you cannot bring out what belongs to the Ouroboros Seed now?"

"Please don’t misunderstand," Fayman quickly waved his hands, still humble. "I cannot decide on this matter. How about this, I will immediately report it to the auction house director, Mr. Rett, I believe we will receive a reply soon."

"I ask that you wait for a while with patience."

Fang Heng felt a bit displeased.

Delaying?

He knew this routine far too well.

Fayman still wore his gentle smile and gestured politely again.

"Dear guests, the tri-decennial auction is underway. Why not visit the venue for a while? I will arrange rooms for you in the auction house. Once there is news regarding the token, I will inform you immediately."

...

Having bumped into a soft nail with Manager Fayman, the group temporarily left the VIP room.

"It seems my influence was not very useful. Zane, let me remind you—the people at the auction house are not easy to handle. If you want to take back the Ouroboros items, you will face some hurdles."

Pena glanced at Zane, waved her hand, and turned to leave, "Remember, you owe me another favor."

Zane watched Pena leave, feeling helpless.

Good grief, he had not done anything, yet he had already lost a favor.

Zane looked toward Fang Heng and Xia Xi and said, "Fang Heng, my brother, don’t you have the claim token left by the previous Ouroboros Beetle King?"

"I have never heard of any such token."

Xia Xi lightly shook her head and said, "I have already contacted the other cultivators. If there is any clue about the token, they will inform us immediately."

"I think it’s just an excuse."

Fang Heng shook his head lightly, feeling rather disdainful.

A token?

It sounded so proper that no one could fault it.

In his view, such a token likely never existed.

The items had simply been left for too long, and their owner never came back. Someone must have developed greedy thoughts and wanted to keep them.

Seeing Fang Heng’s expression grow darker, Zane felt a little nervous.

He was already tied to Fang Heng now and did not want Fang Heng to clash head-on with the Kings of Gods of the Endless Domain. He persuaded again, "Fang Heng, my brother, don’t be impulsive. Why don’t we wait and listen to what Director Ray says?"

"Fine. The Ouroboros Seed will need some time to send news anyway." Fang Heng shrugged and said, "Come on, let’s go look around the second floor."

...

Second floor of the auction house.

Compared to the orderly first-floor exhibition hall, the second floor was much more chaotic and noisy.

The entire second floor was divided into many small areas. Inside each area, stalls were fixed along both sides of the passages.

Most stall owners were Evil God believers of various races. They placed all sorts of items directly on the ground, waiting for buyers to bid.

"This is the free trade area. It’s much messier than downstairs. There are plenty of good things here, and the prices are cheaper. Cash on the spot—no refunds. Whether you find treasure depends entirely on your eyesight."

Zane was obviously familiar with the place and in a good mood. He lowered his voice and explained, "Many items that cannot appear in the auction will be traded privately here."

Fang Heng nodded and followed Zane forward, glancing at the stalls they passed.

There were indeed many strange things.

For example, on the right-hand stall, a still-beating heart wrapped in a viscous green liquid; on the left, a black book faintly radiating alchemical ripples.

Some items had price tags, but many did not, requiring negotiation.

"Hm?"

As Zane walked, he suddenly noticed something. He stopped and stared straight at a gray stone on a stall.

The stone was about the size of a fist, rough and pitted, looking ordinary at first glance.

Zane approached the stall and crouched down to examine the stone.

The stall owner was an alien with six eyes. Three of the eyes glanced sideways at Zane as he spoke lazily.

"Good eye. The void remnant contains a trace of the void’s original power. Whether used to forge weapons or absorbed directly, it is top quality."

Zane said, "It’s good. How much?"

The six-eyed creature held up two fingers.

"Fifty."

"Fifty?"

That was rather cheap!

This thing definitely had a problematic origin.

But that was fine.

He planned to absorb its energy anyway.

Zane considered briefly and reached into his pocket.

Fang Heng watched him.

Sure enough, Zane searched his pockets for a long time, moving slower and slower, until he finally froze awkwardly.

The stall owner narrowed all six eyes impatiently and waved a hand. "If you can’t afford it, don’t waste my time."

"Ahem... too expensive."

Zane’s old face could not hold itself. He forced two dry laughs and pulled Fang Heng and Xia Xi forward.

Fang Heng said, "What? No money?"

"Ahem."

Zane coughed twice awkwardly, "Fang Heng, my brother, you saw it but didn’t say it, that’s true loyalty."

Fang Heng asked again, "What was that just now?"
