Chapter 3650: InvasionEditor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
"Boom! Boom! Boom!!!"
Another several consecutive volleys were fired.
What should they do?!
Belmonte’s eyes were bloodshot.
All the energy beams fired at the Bone Dragons high in the sky vanished completely into the darkness. They could not see through what was happening inside the black void at all. They only knew that this cloud of darkness, carrying an extremely terrifying force, was rapidly approaching them.
Belmonte’s heart pounded violently, and a terrifying premonition arose in his mind.
Once that dark cloud closed in on them, everyone would die.
Belmonte looked at the Great Mage Hutt beside him and asked, "Hutt! Is there any way to dispel them?"
"We can try to borrow the power of the gods."
Hutt also sensed the terrifying pressure coming from the Bone Dragon and nodded slightly. Then he turned back and led a group of Sea God believers in chanting, activating divine power.
As the prayer ritual and mental strength were infused, the statue of God at the ship’s bow emitted a crimson glow.
Streams of light shot out from the god statue toward the dark clouds in the sky, attempting to pierce through the darkness shrouding the heavens.
However, it was useless!
In just a moment, the red light that entered the undead black fog was completely swallowed up without a trace.
The sky remained covered in deathly black fog.
Sweat covered Hutt’s forehead, and his expression became increasingly grim.
"Sorry."
Hutt’s mental strength had already been pushed to its limit. Seeing that the black fog showed no signs of dissipating, he signaled the priests to stop.
They could not do it.
The power of the sea gods mainly affected the sea, but the enemy was in the sky. The power of the sea gods could not disperse that black fog.
In just a short moment, the dark cloud had gathered above the ships.
The fleet had stopped advancing. The outer defensive energy barrier had been raised to its maximum, while all energy cannons continuously fired into the dark sky.
It was still a useless effort.
But Belmonte did not dare to stop.
"Huh!? Look! What is that!"
Suddenly, a soldier noticed something and shouted.
Everyone looked up into the sky and saw black dots falling from the dark clouds.
Like a black rain.
Large numbers of Lickers poured down from the sky.
"Undead creatures! Be careful!" a mage shouted.
The rest of the crew immediately tensed up, gripping their weapons tightly as they stared at the falling Licker swarm.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!!!"
Energy beams locked onto the falling Lickers and instantly blasted them apart one by one.
However, the attacks could not hit all of them.
More Lickers continued to fall and quickly landed on the ships’ outer barrier.
"Zzzt!"
The Lickers immediately clawed at the barrier, tearing out scorching marks filled with sparks.
The Imperial mages on the flagship were shocked.
What was going on?
Just from a single wave of attack, the barrier’s energy value had dropped drastically.
"Bang! Bang bang bang!!!"
Within less than half a minute, the defensive barriers covering the ships shattered one after another.
Large numbers of Lickers poured through the broken barriers and landed on the ships, instantly pouncing toward the nearest Imperial soldiers.
"Be careful! They’re coming! Stop them!"
"Bang! Bang!!!"
The Lickers revealed their ferocious nature. Two soldiers who raised their shields in time were blasted backward along with their shields.
The remaining Imperial soldiers who had been preparing to charge froze for a moment, their legs trembling slightly.
What terrifying monsters!
Seeing the Lickers already boarding the ships, the great mage Hutt tensed up and immediately shouted, "Quick! Pray to the gods!"
Immediately, the soldiers were affected by divine power, and crimson light radiated from their bodies.
A faint red mist also surrounded the Lickers.
The mist spread and instantly enveloped the entire ship.
The crimson glow attached itself to the Imperial soldiers, greatly enhancing their physical attributes while violently stimulating their nerves.
For a moment, the soldiers of the Lyman Empire felt their strength surge, and a fearless courage rose within them.
"Kill!"
A soldier roared, the fear in his eyes disappearing as his muscles swelled. He stepped forward and swung his blade at a nearby Licker’s back.
"Boom!!"
The blade struck the Licker’s back with a metallic sound.
Only a white mark appeared on the Licker’s spine, while the soldier himself was forced back several steps.
What?!
Fear flickered in the soldier’s eyes.
Whoosh!
In the next instant, the Licker flashed past him, its sharp claws slicing across his neck.
How could this be?
On the flagship, Commander Belmonte watched as the soldiers were still being slaughtered one-sidedly, and he was greatly shaken.
Divine power was supposed to both weaken enemies and strengthen allies. In the past, this kind of close combat was the Lyman Empire’s greatest strength.
But now...
Even though the Imperial soldiers fought without fear of death, they were still falling in waves.
The great mage Hutt and the priests were forcibly pushing divine power to its limit, sweat continuously rolling down their faces.
The divine power had already been pushed to its maximum.
The enhancement effect had also reached its limit, yet it still could not deal with these monsters.
What should they do!?
Whoosh! Whoosh!!!
While they were thinking, several Lickers leapt from another warship and pounced toward their flagship.
"Protect the commander!"
The Imperial guards on both sides jumped in alarm and rushed forward to intercept them.
The Lickers landed on the deck and immediately turned into red streaks of light, charging toward the guards.
"Bang!!"
Two guards were sent flying.
"I’ll handle this!"
Belmonte roared, swinging his greatsword down at a Licker.
The strike carried a refined technique, and frost enchantment energy enveloped the blade as it slammed into the Licker.
"Boom!!!!"
Part of the Licker’s body was instantly frozen into ice crystals.
What!
Belmonte’s pupils shrank. He had not expected that the Licker would not be blasted away and could still counterattack.
Retreat!
Belmonte quickly stepped back.
However, the ice crystals on the Licker’s body suddenly shattered, and it lunged at him again with its claws.
"Zzzzt!"
Lightning flashed!
The claws left a deep mark on Belmonte’s armor as he was knocked backward.
Cold sweat broke out on Belmonte’s back as he stared at the Licker pursuing him through the air, fear filling his eyes like never before.
This armor was an heirloom granted to the Belmonte family by the Imperial royal family.
Its defensive strength could even withstand a full strike from a high-tier sea monster.
Yet it was being treated like paper under this creature’s attack.
Even its lightning attribute defense was completely useless.
"Sir, be careful!"
Whoosh!
Beside him, the mage Hutt bit his lip and forced his mental strength again.
The red mist surrounding the ship quickly formed into blood-red spikes that shot toward the Licker attacking Belmonte!
