Chapter 1579: Man To Man Talk
Divine General Division:
Chief Heavenly Ape kept punching the air, and each of his fists created a black hole before collapsing. Myriad Star Rabbit was looking through the window, but did not say anything.
"All this work for nothing," Battle Ape said as he threw a serious punch that actually shook the room.
"Don’t make a scene," Myriad Rabbit said.
"Aren’t you angry?" Heavenly Ape growled. "We did all this work just to help these Innate Demon Gods to fulfil their destiny or consolidate their Qi Luck."
"Fan Sui already warned us that the Saint may not allow us to blatantly attack those vile gods."
"I know this, but it irks me thinking how these bastards now have the breathing room to recuperate," Heavenly Ape sighed.
"It will still take some time before they can completely recuperate, and time is the least thing we currently have," Myriad Star Rabbit said calmly. "Now, all we have to do is use the court’s politics to ensure they are placed in the most dangerous area of the war, and further weaken them."
After negotiating with the union, the demon race had more political power than the Demon God Cave. So, with the right move, they could send these Innate Demon Gods to the most dangerous area of the upcoming disaster to ensure they suffer the greatest loss.
"These lowlives Demon Gods better hope nothing happens to the Saint," Heavenly Ape said with gritted teeth. As soon as Maitreya shows signs of weakness or being unavailable, the demon race will throw away all the rules to attack the cave.
"Watch your words," Myriad Star Rabbit warned. They were still under the roof of the Saint, so who knows if the latter could hear them.
"Hmph," Heavenly Ape snorted coldly. They would not be in such a terrible situation had they sent a more qualified individual to compete for a flawed method during the taboo — better yet, if one of them volunteered to participate.
"Who dares trespass in our meeting?" Heavenly Ape suddenly roared as he reached to his right to grab a shadowy figure. Myriad Star Rabbit waved her hand to summon a Dipper Sealing Formation above this figure. However, their actions were useless as the figure was only a shadow construct. It dissipated, leaving a note.
The note flew into Heavenly Ape’s hand, and he read the content: "The Saint will soon be occupied."
"What do you think?"
Myriad Star Rabbit thought briefly. She did not mention the obvious: that someone was using them as pawns. The hatred between the demon race and the Demon God Cave has been going on for too long, and both sides have reached a point where they know one of them must be eradicated. At this point in time, they are no longer fighting for the destiny and Qi Luck of each other, but out of generational hatred.
"If it’s true, we can use this opportunity," Myriad Star Rabbit said.
"But how do we know if it’s true?"
"Whoever sent this note is probably planning something. We just need to wait for them to act before we mobilize. We just need to be ready at any moment for a strike on the cave."
"That sounds like a good plan to me," Heavenly Ape muttered, a red light full of killing intent flashed in his eyes.
...
Wang Wei spent a few days reallocating the mortals. He also spent time dealing with Emperor Kong and establishing the Mortal Soul Legion. He had to give the latter some access to the Void Illusion Realm. Only after dealing with these things did he have time to head to the Origin Seal Continent.
"Uncle Master," Song Luli saluted.
Wang Wei nodded. "Where is your brother?"
Song Lulu sighed deeply. "He’s in seclusion?"
"True seclusion or an excuse in order not to speak to anyone?"
"Obviously the latter."
"Hey, no need to get snippy at me," Wang Wei said.
"I’m sorry. It’s just that he’s never been like this," Song Luli sighed. "We tell each other everything, and now, he’s so distant and hurt, but he won’t let me help him."
"What exactly happened?"
"Soon after we arrived at the capital, he was all giddy, and after prying, he revealed he had met a wonderful woman. But a few days later, he became depressed, and the only explanation he gave was that it was impossible for them to be together."
"Is the woman taken?" Wang Wei asked.
"I think so," Song Luli nodded. Her brother was handsome, talented, powerful, and had a great background. The only way a woman wouldn’t fall for him was if she was already taken.
"Have you tried finding the woman? Maybe you can find a solution for her."
"I did, but I haven’t had any luck as of yet," Song Luli replied.
"In that case, we can only wait until he’s ready to talk to us," Wang Wei sighed. "Where is Sir Lie Peiqi?"
"His residence is the small island in the southern ocean — it’s the only one, so you can’t miss it."
"Thanks."𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Wang Wei slowly flew to his destination. He soon discovered an isolated mansion on a small island off the coast. A handsome gentleman dressed in black stood tall, waiting for his arrival. The man looked almost human, except for the skin on his neck, which looked metallic.
Wang Wei landed before this man. He cupped his hand and bowed politely: "Sir Lie Peiqi."
"Hmm, you’re no different from the rest, but at least, you’re willing to show respect — even if it’s for Wu Hong’s sake."
"Excuse me?" Wang Wei was puzzled. He did not think he had done anything to offend this man.
"I’m talking about the cultivators in this world. They are...what’s the word? Realistic and self-assured. Due to their relentless pursuit of strength and faith in themselves, their culture possesses its own uniqueness, for example, the limited use of spirits in artifacts, arrays, and other items. And even when they use spirits, they don’t really trust them as much.
"This mindset is so pervasive, and it’s also why they only see things like weapons or even puppets as mere tools of power. You share their mindset, but like I said, at least you’re willing to show respect on account of Wu Hong."
"That is true," Wang Wei nodded.
"Not even going to try to explain or justify yourself?"
"There is no need," Wang Wei shook his head. "As much as I believe I’m a unique individual, I’m also a product of the cultivation world. But to be fair, my aversion to puppets predated my time in the Eternal Ascension World."
"Oh? Was there a reason for this aversion?"
"Our civilization had a deep fear that they would turn against their creator and enslave us."
"That’s preposterous," Lie Peiqi sneered.
"Not really. Unlike in the cultivation, puppets back there were designed to be immensely superior to humans in all aspects — at least, that’s how we envisioned them."
"Really?" Lei Peiqi asked, slightly intrigued.
"Their conceptual design was not just another hand or a power boost. No, we envisioned them for the sole purpose of doing things we could not — to be better than us. They were supposed to be faster, stronger, and more intelligent, and they needed to be in large quantities to help the entire civilization. So, you could imagine why we would grow to fear their possible rebellion."
"The law of the jungle prevails everywhere, so yes, it would be idiotic to create something that is much superior to yourself," Lie Peiqi nodded before staring at him deeply. "But in this world, in this life, you don’t have to worry about such a thing. So, why have your views on puppets not improved?"
"There is always that small voice in the back of my mind that keeps me weary," Wang Wei said truthfully.
"You know that’s an unfounded fear, right?"
"You would not say that if you lived in my shoes," Wang Wei shook his head. With his luck, it would only be a matter of time before his army of puppets revolted against him if he did not preserve that paranoid mindset.
"What a shame," Lei Peiqi sighed.
"Now I ’m curious about your homeworld," Wang Wei continued. "By the way you speak, it’s almost like a utopia where puppets and humans live in perfect harmony."
"There is no utopia in this vast Chaos Universe," Lie Peiqi replied. "But there is indeed some form of harmony. Automatons — as we called ourselves — is a highly developed profession. We are created from a unique Soul Flower Technique that serves as our core.
"The soul flower grants an automaton limited intelligence and consciousness — until the flower blooms.
"Once the flower blossoms, an automaton becomes sentient and acquires the same rights as humans or any other race. We can learn how to cultivate or learn other professions — yes, including how to create ourselves."
"Your home sounds a lot less bellicose and enlightened," Wang Wei commented. No cultivators in this world would give a puppet their rights — even if they had a soul. In fact, they were more likely to enslave that soul to ensure the puppet continued its servitude.
"There are still plenty of conflicts, but yes, we are indeed enlightened compared to the people of this world," Lie Peiqi nodded.
"That sounds nice," Wang Wei praised.
"And boring, right?"
"A little."
"She said the same thing," Lie Peiqi smiled. "Come, let’s have some tea." He waved his hand to condense chairs, tables, and a tea set.
