Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1641: Quarantine Darkness

Chapter 1641: Quarantine Darkness

"While this is a good idea, it’s not something we should be focusing on right now," Qiyuan said.

"What makes you say that?"

"Our enemy is used to timeline invasion. They have probably perfected a war system for it, but we have not," Qiyuan explained. "I’m willing to bet they are closely monitoring this timeline and will notice anyone who leaves or enters. If we were to try this, the chances of them discovering us are high, so it’s not worth the risk.

"However, after a while, once we know them better and understand their systems and what they are capable of, we can take the risk to start a second battlefield in other timelines for resources. We may even lure a group of them for a decisive victory."

"That sounds reasonable to me," Maitreya nodded before looking at Wang Wei. "Anything else you want to add?"

"No," Wang Wei replied. He predicted this outcome before he suggested that tactic. He was the one who captured the Time Boat from Time Eaters, so he was fully aware of the military capabilities of the Land of Exile. However, their world also needed to start preparing to extend the battlefield to the other timelines, and he just used this opportunity to remind everybody ahead of time so they can prepare.

’However,’ Wang Wei thought. ’The rejection of Paragons to navigate the Infinite Trichiliocosm is more intense than I thought. Something tells me this information might be valuable.’

Maitreya nodded before continuing: "You can start the early preparation for a Timeline Conquest Battlefield." Qiyuan nodded, and the meeting continued. After a few more minutes of discussion, Wang Wei had another thought, but he did not state it out loud. Instead, he secretly contacted Maitreya through divine sense.

’Why don’t you use extreme time acceleration, just like you did when we created the Universal Soul Quintessence Method? Well, maybe not as extreme as that, but you could provide everybody with a lot more time to train and prepare for the war.’

’You should know the concept of true time?’ Maitreya asked instead of answering.

’Of course.’ As a person who has mastered the Time Dao, Wang Wei was aware of the various types of time. True Time is a common concept in the cultivator world, referring to time in the real world in comparison to time spent inside a formation or dimension with accelerated time.

’Have you ever wondered why, as a Saint who can break the limit of the Time Rule, I didn’t seal myself inside a dimension with exaggerated acceleration and use all the time to complete my transcendent path or any other issues I have? And not just me, but all other Saints as well?’

’Now that you mention it,’ Wang Wei said. This was a reasonable question: why not use the unlimited time available to solve all issues? Now, unlimited time may not necessarily mean a Saint was guaranteed to create a method from the Primordial to the Grand Dao Saint. After all, there is such a thing as the limit of talents and other factors that will determine a cultivator’s Transcendent Path.

But if she, or people like Trinity Venerable or Erudite Duchess, could use such an absurd time difference, their cultivation should have long reached the third step, and maybe even already transcended. So, why wasn’t that the case?

’Grand Dao is not stupid,’ Maitreya explained. ’Forget how challenging the Transcendent Path is on its own, but according to the Chaos Universe’s fundamental rules, once the difference between manipulated time inside a formation or area and true time in the world is too vast, a Saint will find themselves isolated from the Chaos Universe.

’I can tell you that isolation is a nasty experience. You can’t sense anything besides yourself: no energy, no matter, no space, no time, no karma, no Dao, and not even reality — only a bottomless darkness. At first, you might be able to resist, but after a while, your own deprived senses will become your enemy. You will yearn to detect these things, and once you cannot, your mind will start to turn on you.

’The most basic of thoughts will become so slow that a single word will feel like a second stretch into infinity. How can someone possibly think or achieve anything in such a state? And that’s just the beginning. I didn’t stay too long in that state, but I imagine there are other consequences; I just didn’t want to find out.’

’Damn.’ That’s the first thing Wang Wei thought of. Her words reminded him of the terror of sensory deprivation, only for higher beings like cultivators. He wondered whether Grand Dao had thought of this on her own, or if it was another thing inspired by Earth and the Prehistoric World.

’I had the same response,’ Maitreya chuckled. Because of this phenomenon that Saints call Quanrantine Darkness, they usually search for time-based Heaven and Earth Wonders or create their own if they know enough to establish their own cultivation dojos, as this allows them to increase the amount of manipulated time they can use before triggering the darkness mechanism.

’And that’s just the primary reason that I don’t do it. There is also the secondary one, it’s not practical,’ Maitreya continued. ’You two were able to survive so long because I took the effort to protect you from Source Time.’ Immortal Stage Cultivators are immortals with endless life spans, so how do Time Dao cultivators manage to age them into oblivion? The answer is Source Time.

’Protecting a Non-Saint from source time is a delicate process, one which I acknowledge Heavenly Daos does better. So, since it sells an item called Time Sanctuary in the exchange list at what I considered a reasonable price, it’s best if you guys use that instead.’

’I understand,’ Wang Wei nodded.

The meeting continued for a little while. A Chain of Command for the War Room was established, followed by what Wang Wei considered a military parade and exercise. The primals observed the Divine Army trained by Li Ming, before each faction also summoned some of their most elite forces for a competition against them.

The other departments — such as Divine Manufacturing — were already established and perfected before this meeting, so the meeting concluded after the War Room. Everyone was dispersed to prepare for the first confrontation of this war, which occurred in approximately 2000 Yuan Epochs.

Wang Wei briefly chatted with Qiyuan about the transition into his new role as Head of the Resource Management Department, as that was his next destination. However, midway through his conversation, he received an invitation from Liang Shixiang for tea. As he was interested in understanding what his old acquaintances had been through, he accepted.

Lin Fan slowly walked to the Investigation Department, located in the Far East, from the court’s center, where the meeting and War Room had just been established. In the past 100 Yuan Epochs, he — well, more so Wang Guo — recruited many talented individuals to help them in their mission. As soon as he arrived at his office, Lin Fan activated the formation, closed his eyes, and entered his Sea of Consciousness.

"What was that all about?" As soon as the meeting started, he received a shock to his mind that almost injured his soul. Above all, Lin Fan was worried this bastard would reveal himself, forcing the Buddha to see him as a traitor and suffer her wrath.

"That was indeed my mistake," Hundunxi said calmly. "But that human, the one who dares to call himself the ruler of fate, not only has my brother Hongjun’s aura, but also Pangu’s."

"Wang Wei?" Lin Fan asked with a frown. "Are you sure?"

"I know what I detected. Although Hongjun’s aura is weird — most likely because he reincarnated — and he, along with two others, tried to hide Pangu’s aura, but I still sense it."

"It would explain many things about him if he were related to those two," Lin Fan commented.

"What do you mean?"

"Everyone knows he reincarnated from a unique world, but no one has been able to find out which one," Lin Fan explained. The Human Emperor was mysterious for most of his life, but people eventually discovered the Upper Zone Realm from which he originated. "His world is most likely protected by these two."

"Hongjun is now in cahoots with Pangu?" A fierce light flashed in Hundunxi’s eyes, instantly increasing the pressure in the surroundings.

"Calm down. My Sea of Consciousness can’t take any more of this," Lin Fan complained. Hundunxi exhaled deeply before regaining his composure. "Now, what do you want to do?"

"He must die. We must search his soul to find out what these two are doing."

"No."

"Pardon me?"

"Listen," Lin Fan said, trying to remain as calm as possible. "No one who has become this man’s enemy has ever had a good fate. By Grand Dao’s blessing, this man basically won a match of wit against a Saint when he was only an Empyrean."
