Chapter 1699: The Escape Plan: The Awaited Moment
Hongjun once blessed Wang Wei with immense luck and fortune before his reincarnation. He also met the latter and the other Saints of the Prehistoric World and Earth. All these meetings left a mark on Wang Wei’s [Existence]. These marks are not like the seed with inherent power to influence him, but the powers competing for Wang Wei’s body don’t have to know about that. With a bit of manipulation, Wang Wei successfully faked the appearance of a third party intervening, forcing the others to pause briefly and check the situation.
It didn’t take them long to realize this was nothing but a bluff, but that moment of relief was enough for Wang Wei to condense the [Absolute Fate Control] characteristic and complete the subsequent sublimation. Wang Wei watched as the three Battle Taboo Characteristics resonated before turning into the shape of three stars.
The achievement of the Paragon Battle Taboo should be something to celebrate, but Wang Wei couldn’t care less right now. If he doesn’t survive this ordeal, none of his achievements will mean anything. As such, he focused on the task at hand. With absolute control over his mind, spirit, and self, he weaved an even greater protection around his [True Self]. It doesn’t matter if the other aspects of his [Existence] are destroyed, conquered, or corrupted: everything will be fine as long as what makes him Wang Wei still exists.
Boom!
Wang Wei’s actions seemed to have offended those two. So, they ignored their previous battles and focused on eradicating the weakest link before focusing on each other. Wang Wei sneered. He did not hesitate to further weaken the [Time Skipping Orb] protection to empower Dark Fate. If someone could observe his soul from the outside, they would see that a black shadow consumed two-thirds, the other third had turned completely silver-white, and only a small part on his forehead kept releasing an intense golden light that kept everything at bay.
The balance was broken in the other side’s favor. The River of Fate has been planning for this chesspiece before it was born in its first life, so how can it allow an outside force to come reaping everything it has sown? A more potent power descended into Wang Wei’s body to suppress Dark Fate. Having the homecourt advantage immediately proved to be useful, and the previous balance was restored.
Wang Wei’s guard remained on the highest alert as he balanced these two terrifying powers. ’What’s taking so long? Could my prediction be wrong, or did something happen?’ The opportunity he’s been waiting for hasn’t arrived, leading his mind to wander. Only Wang Wei knew the tightrope he was currently on. The slightest mistake will result in a fate worse than death. Wang Wei has already planned to erase his [True Self] if he loses this confrontation, as he refused to be the puppet of either the River of Fate or whatever power this Dark Fate was.
Although this may be an extreme since there is hope for him to be saved or revived by his wife as long as he is alive, Wang Wei refused to live as a puppet. By the time Wu Hong is strong enough to save him, Wang Wei knows his will might be broken, and he would be nothing but a shell of his former self. Instead of living such a life, he preferred death. Although such a choice might be selfish, he knew his wife and his parents would understand.
’Now is not the time to be doubting myself. So, let’s focus.’ He ignored all these negative thoughts and dedicated all his effort to keeping this feeble balance. Under such intense focus, the passage of time was usually unnoticeable, but it was the opposite for Wang Wei; every second felt like an eternity. However, he endured. He persevered — he remained unyielding.
There is a saying: Heaven rewards the diligent. Although this may not be utterly true, one thing is sure: only the diligent can defy their destined fate. After walking on the tightrope for far too long, Wang Wei suddenly felt a connection. He immediately acted and took control.
’Now, for the last step,’ Wang Wei thought while trying to control his emotions. Hongjun was not the only Transcendent Entity that had come into contact. Old Man Tianji from the Star-Gazing Pavilion, the people who attacked the Mortalhood Trial, the Ji Clan, and that Genesis Creature — all of them have left their records or mark on his [Existence]. Wang Wei activated all of them to make it look as if those people were also interfering.
Such a tactic would not work twice against these two powers, and Wang Wei should know this. However, he did this because he had a trump card that guaranteed they would pay attention. Wang Wei has met many Saints or transcendent powerhouses, but which one was the most powerful? The answer was himself. In other words, there was no better method of convincing these two than using the fact that his future self was entering this battlefield.
Wang Wei could not find the marks left on him by his True Transcendent Self when he was just born. However, he saw the one from his alternate self that he met in the River of Time — the one that showed him the alternate primordial timeline. Using the technique of borrowing power from his Future Self that he used when fighting Old Man Nether, Wang Wei was able to perfectly stimulate that mark to make it appear as if his future self was intervening in this battle, forcing his enemy to pause and take the threat seriously.
’Now,’ Wang Wei thought. The Time Skipping Orb stopped protecting his soul and turned into an armor around his [Existence]; to be precise, around the [True Self] section of his blueprint. Without the first defensive line, Dark Fate immediately gained access to the source of its power, rendering the situation even more intense and chaotic. However, none of that mattered to Wang Wei.
The connection he had been waiting for was from his avatar outside. He predicted the latter would try to contact him, most likely using the power of the Saint Art scroll. The interesting aspect of [Avatars] is that they contained an [Eternal Characteristic] that allowed them to become the main body. Wang Wei was previously sealed and dealing with Saint powers, meaning the avatars would have died with him. Now, with their connection reinstated, he immediately transferred his [True Self] to that avatar.
And before the transfer was accomplished, Wang Wei immediately wiped the Avatar’s [Existence] clean, leaving an empty blueprint. He had no choice but to do so; otherwise, the transfer process would bring with it things he did not want to. He had spent so much time and effort blocking these things from corrupting him, so he would not make such a mistake.
Bang!
As soon as the transfer finished, Wang Wei’s body exploded. The explosion was devastating. Luckily, the avatar was only a Peak Paragon, and the sect’s automatic formation activated to protect everybody. Wang Wei immediately severed all connection to the sealed body. His swift actions allowed him to receive only the backlash from his collapse [Existence] and not the other corruptions. However, Wang Wei knew his situation wasn’t ideal.
With such a big blow to his [Existence], losing his cultivation would be the best outcome. Wang Wei calmly observed his situation. The worst had passed, and now, it was only a matter of managing damage. He did not hesitate to use the remaining merit he had to buy the best [Existence Healing Pill] in his price range from the exchange list. Then, he directly accesses the court’s World Source Pool and his endless soul reserve to prevent total collapse of his very being.
Finally, Wang Wei sent a message to his wife’s avatar to use the highest seal possible for his body that remained in the court’s Divination Department before passing out. Li Ming appeared next to his soul to catch it. He sensed an aura he was familiar with: the one that appeared when an avatar became the main body. Sighing in relief, he sent the news to his big brother before taking Wang Wei’s soul to an isolated and protected area of the sect.
Terminus Heaven:
Fate Cardinal watched the entire event, and when Wang Wei escaped, a smile flashed deep in his eyes. He has already eliminated most of the Fate Seeds except for three. One of them was hiding so well that he couldn’t find him. The second had something that made him too eye-catching, forcing Fate Cardinal to stop his actions. The last one — Wang Wei — was the true pain in his ass. Luckily for him, the latter was a rebel and refused to succumb to his fate.
’So what if you don’t want me? The person you want also doesn’t want you,’ Fate Cardinal secretly jeered. Unfortunately, his joy did not last long before he received a direct order from Grand Dao, which instantly spiked his blood pressure.
