Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1713: The Highest Sovereign

Chapter 1713: The Highest Sovereign

Infinite Divine Court, Light Source Realm:

A handsome man with golden hair, dressed in a white robe, a thirteen-legged dragon coiling around a sun, a golden hairpiece holding his bun, three jade pendants around his waist, and a pair of black bracelets, sat cross-legged in their air. Millions of light balls surrounded him, but the word light may not be enough to describe these things.

They were the physical manifestations of everything associated with light: purity, divinity, holiness, nobleness, sacredness, sovereignty, judgment, the source of life, and many more. The man suddenly sensed something and opened his gilded eyes, then glanced in one direction. His sight penetrated endless distances and dimensions to gaze upon Timeline NP89076H.

’She’s made her move?’ the Highest Sovereign thought. He reached out with his hands. A terrifying power folded the endless space between universes before heading to Timeline NP89076H. At some point, the power was momentarily halted as it passed through some kind of protective film, but even that could not stop it.

The Time and Primordial Cardinals — who were in charge of sealing the timeline — felt a sense of impending doom and raised their heads. A terrifying light beam descended from the sky. And as soon as they saw that light, their bodies froze, along with their thoughts, souls, and even Dao. Death seemed to be heading their way with the utmost haste.

Luckily for them, even if they were dogs, anyone who wanted to kill them had to ask their masters. At the last minute — at least, to their limited sense of time compared to the people involved — a lightning bolt appeared out of nowhere and either annihilated or canceled the light beam. Anyway, these two could not tell the subtle difference.

The Highest Sovereign was not surprised by this outcome. On the contrary, it was expected. So, after the first failure, he attacked again. A colossal light spear materialized in this place that could be considered the [Void Between Universes]. Compared to the spear, Timeline NP89076H resembled a small river about a couple of thousand miles long.

Luckily, the spear’s target was not this parallel universe itself, but the people or power blocking it. As it descended, another lightning bolt attacked it, but this time around, it only slightly dimmed the spear’s brightness. Then, more and more chaotic lightning rained on the light weapon, but it still could not stop its momentum. For a moment, the cardinals thought this was the end for them. Then, a terrifying black and white wheel materialized in this void, clashing directly into the light spear. It took a few seconds, but eventually, the wheel dispersed the attack.

’The one from the Bi Clan?’ The Highest Sovereign thought. After a second third-step powerhouse showed up, he did not immediately attack a third time. Instead, his eyes glowed for a few seconds as he entered a marvelous state. With a thought, the power of fate bent to his will, he gained access to all the knowledge and secrets of the universe, and he saw an infinite future of possibilities of the Infinite Divine Court.

’That one is intervening? It seems the information about him being petty is accurate,’ the Highest Sovereign thought. ’But I thought we had come to an agreement.’ When he tried to possess that vessel, that person did not put up much of a fight, so the Highest Sovereign thought they had an unspoken accord.

’What a pain,’ he complained. As a third step Transcendent, he can enter a state of [Nigh Omniscience]. Yet, despite such immense power, he could only deduce such a small piece of information about the fate or future of the events happening next. That can only mean one thing: someone of equal status is hiding all the information from him.

’The third Reverse Black Stone Production Line is nowhere near completion, so I can’t lose that one.’ Over the years, he has created countless loopholes in the blockade Grand Dao imposed on his timeline, but the Divine Timeline remained a prison. Without the Time Gates, it will be impossible for them to continue their expeditions and gather resources for such an enormous dynasty.

After mulling it over briefly — which is a terrifyingly small amount of time for someone with his brain processing power — the Highest Sovereign attacked a third time. A towering hand composed entirely out of light reached out toward Timeline NP89076H. The subsequent events were the same as before — or, they should have been.

Grand Dao’s Destruction Chaos Lightning and the Bi Ancestor’s Life-Death Suppressing Wheel clashed with the hand of light. With these two working together, the result should have been the dispersion of the enemy’s attack. However, something unexpected occurred. The hand was injured, and three drops of blood fell.

Before they could understand what was happening or react, the first two drops instantly annihilated the Fate and Primordial Cardinals. The third one headed for Timeline NP89076H. Grand Dao reacted swiftly by annihilating most of the third drop of blood, but a significant portion still landed, eroding the seal. It did not break, but the Highest Sovereign was satisfied since his goal had been achieved.

’Now, we have more room to maneuver,’ he thought. With a wave of his hand, he sent an order for everybody to gather for a court meeting. The Highest Sovereign then landed on the ground while sighing to himself: "Why is my life so hard?"

The Highest Sovereign — or Jiang Qing — was born at the wrong time and place, making his cultivation journey on nightmare mode. Despite his poor luck, he never complained, defied his fate, and reached the ceiling of the Chaos Universe. However, reaching the third step of the Transcendent Path, he did not stop moving forward.

Everybody knows that to achieve True Transcendent requires fusing the Spirit, Flesh, and Dao Quintessence into one. But is such a thing an easy thing? No, Jiang Qing has lived for a long time and met a few third-step cultivators, but the number of them who have harmonized the three [Quintessences] can be counted on one hand.

Regardless of the challenge, he succeeded and prepared to finally transcend the Chaos Universe. But then, he realized he couldn’t. The last shackle he needed to break to achieve his goal can only be achieved in the Primordial Timeline. Although indignant, he did not hesitate to travel there. But what did he find? To break that last shackle, he needed to pay Grand Dao a deep karma, and the only way to do so was to serve the latter for eons.

How could he accept that? After suffering so much to reach his level, it was only because of his good nature that he never sought revenge on Grand Dao. Still, the latter wanted him to serve her to repay the karma for merely existing or cultivating. Jiang Qing was outraged and wanted to annihilate that heartless woman. Unfortunately, he was no match for the Destruction General.

With that path cut off, Jiang Qing returned home, deciding to find another way. Since the environment didn’t allow for his transcendence, he would change it to mimic the Primordial Timeline until it could. Hence, the Divine Timeline Project was born. The plan was proven more successful than Jiang Qing could ever have imagined. Not only could he bypass the karma he owed, but he also discovered his strength was increasing in the process.

However, before he could reap the fruit of what he sowed, Grand Dao once again cut off his path. The worst part is that she was cruel this time and worked with some unsavory people to essentially imprison him in his own home. It took him years to escape this prison and even longer to plot his way back to the Primordial Timeline.

’Grand Dao is too occupied dealing with the Fate Dominator, who is an even greater rebel in her eyes compared to me,’ the Highest Sovereign thought. ’On top of that, I’ve successfully caused chaos and internal fighting among the other foreign third steps, preventing them from once again allying with her. So, this is the perfect time to return to the Primordial Timeline.’

The Highest Sovereign smiled. Everything was proceeding accordingly. Although there were a few setbacks, that’s to be expected. As long as he can achieve his goal, everything else is irrelevant.

’If that plan doesn’t work, I can use the information about Project Divine Timeline as a backup.’

Just fusing timelines will not create a universe that allows transcendence — it must be done in certain ways that mirror Grand Dao’s Primordial Timeline. Many people have tried after the Highest Sovereign’s success, but only he has succeeded. As a last resort, Jiang Qing is prepared to sell this information. From what he knows, there are about 15 third-step Saints still alive in the entire Chaos Universe, most of whom are born outside of the Primordial Chaos or forced into exile.

There is nothing these people would want more than this information, and after selling it to them, an unprecedented chaos would spread throughout the Infinite Trichiliocosm. By then, Grand Dao will not have the time to focus on Jiang Qing, freeing himself to continue his transcendent path.
