Chapter 1718: The Comeback of An Ancient Power

Now that he was alone, Wang Wei summoned his Karma Chessboard. He gently caressed the artifact: he had so many plans for it, but things changed so fast during the war that he had little use for it. It also helped that the Seven Moons were already acting as if the Qi of Calamity infected them. Later, after gaining its freedom, Heavenly Dao also planned to use this power on the invaders, but Maitreya did not allow it for two reasons:

First, she was sure that the Infinite Divine Court had dealt with many events involving the Qi of Calamity. As one of the greatest weapons of Heavenly Dao, they must have encountered it numerous times during their conquest and developed an effective means of detecting and dealing with it. However, the Lords had already warned them not to disobey military orders. So, they gritted their teeth and followed. Luckily for them, the enemy Primordial Saints intercepted them.

These Saints were old foxes, so they immediately pretended as if their enemy was too strong for them. "Captain, we need your help."

"You need my help? You outnumber them 5 to 2, and you say you need my help? If you’re going to pretend, do a better job," Sovereign Dao Eyes sneered. "Do your job or face military punishment."

The team gritted their teeth and intensified their attacks. Meanwhile, Sovereign Dao Eyes did as he promised. He was born with special eyes and has used them throughout his cultivation journey; he never wasted an opportunity to evolve further or transform them. By pushing himself to the limit, he detected some of the shockwaves from the battle and used that information to protect himself and warn his teammates.

Unfortunately, fate seemed against him. Not long after the fight started, the enemy’s Primordial Saint suddenly received a boost from their array, instantly turning the tide of the battle. "Captain, this time, we really need your help this time."

’Damn these bastards,’ Sovereign Dao eyes cursed. Wasn’t this the perfect excuse? Now that they were not pretending, they could just cost line this mission and would have the perfect excuse. But these people dragged him into the mess. He understood their mindset. Despite the constant warnings, it did not change the fact that Sovereign Dao Eyes was safe, and if he wanted, could determine their lives. So, the best approach for these Saints is to force them into the same situation they are in.

After mulling over the situation, Dao Eyes determined the best course of action was to join the battle with them. The node was one of the 1.269 million worlds that comprise the court’s array. After bypassing their defense line, Sovereign Dao Eyes reached his destination and immediately released a barrage of attacks. His visual powers contained not only unique means of detection but also terrifying attacks.

Sovereign Dao Eyes was excited as he recorded all the fluctuations from this node. His plan would work.

An unknown shockwave struck with such force that he flew into the array. However, he did not enter, but hit the protective film of the array and bounced off; his injuries were further aggravated. However, little did he know this was the beginning of his bad luck.
