Chapter 1732: The King Clan’s Accord
Wang Guo did not hesitate or mince his words: "I came here to make a deal with you: help me kill Xiao Wenque."
"Hmm," Wang Wei muttered as he sipped his wine. "I must say: I’m surprised and not surprised at the same time."
"News about the degradation of our relationship should have spread already, so why are you shocked?" Wang Guo calmly asked.
"My astonishment was because I had thought you would try to deal with this privately," Wang Wei uttered. By now, reputation had become a shackle on Wang Guo and Xiao Wenque. Their relationship had soured, and everybody knew they wanted to kill each other, but they could not do so openly for the sake of the Myriad Clan Union. Maitreya knew this, which is why she brought them on this expedition, giving them a chance to deal with the situation quietly without creating chaos among their subordinates.
So, when Wang Guo came asking for help, Wang Wei was surprised since that meant he would not solve the issue quietly. "What happened for you to ask for my help? No, I’m interested in what made such a long relationship sour to this point in the first place."
"Don’t you already know why this is happening?" Wang Guo glared at him.
"I don’t believe for a second it was just because of the Wang Clan Human Fiendgod Bloodline," Wang Wei shook his head.
"Of course, that was just the final nail on the coffin — the final catalyst," Wang Guo sighed before taking a large sip. "The Golden Era created the 13 Overlords, but you should understand that every faction was riddled with problems that needed to be eventually addressed. The Second Origin War temporarily stopped them from erupting, and the Seven Moon Era further delayed them. But now, those issues must be dealt with."
Wang Wei squinted as he knew the latter was correct: all 13 overlords had their own issues, and the one who solved them was the one capable of reaping the benefit now. The Dao Opening Sect was ruled by the Wang, Yan, and Li Clans, but such a setup could easily create stagnation and envy among other factions. So, the ancestors relinquished powers and created the other six clans. They also ensured that the sectarian faction still has the means to promote foreign disciples while also blocking them from creating a top family.
Ying Zheng ruled the Great Qin with an iron fist. After killing all the noble factions who could oppose him and eliminating all the geniuses who could be called Primal Seeds, this great dynasty only had one voice: the emperors. And since everything Ying Zheng said was law, there were no longer any further internal problems — except for a few unwilling children.
The Origin Seal Continent had to rely too much on Wu Hong for its existence and protection, with their only weakness being the lack of Primals. But now, such an issue has also been addressed, meaning they are prepared for the new age. The Divine Faith Haven is ruled by a duo of Father and Son, meaning they also only have one voice. Their unity is on par with the Dao Opening Sect, second only to Great Qin and the Origin Seal Continent. Their only issue is the flaw in God Cultivation, which makes them prone to arrogance and to offending countless people.
Meanwhile, all the remaining factions had one persevering issue: disunity. Their existence stemmed from many factions coming together to form a larger power and compete at the highest level. Some — such as Buddhism, Taoism, and the Sword Path League — were better than others because they were bound together by a cohesive ideology, such as religion or the pursuit of the same Dao.
The rest — such as the Demon Race, the Innate Demon Gods, the Limitless Exchange Hall, and the Skill Path Association — were bound by their racial identity and benefits. With these things as anchors, the unity of their factions can be guaranteed to an extent, and they can compete for the opportunity in the upcoming age.
Finally, the two remaining factions — the Grand Sect Alliance and the Myriad Clan Union — are the ones with the most significant cohesion issues. Everybody already knew there was no way for Dugu Baitian to solve this issue before the new era: the only solution was for him to take the opportunity of the new age, become a Saint, and use absolute force to mold the alliance into a cohesive lineage. Had he succeeded, he would have created the most powerful action in the Eternal Ascension World.
As for the Myriad Clan Union, they faced problems they had created themselves. At first, the concept of bloodline served as the binding force for their lineage. Although bloodlines are inherently hierarchical, they should have been able to manage. The greatest mistake the union made was expanding its recruitment to include non-humans. While this decision was a brilliant move at first, taking a significant portion of the Demons, Innate Demon God, and even the Sea Race’s population, it further complicated the union’s internal struggle.
And then, the unexpected occurred. Despite Wang Guo and Xiao Wenque’s best efforts to suppress every non-human race, Ye Guang defied the odds and ascended to the status of Primal. He united with all the non-human clans and formed one of the three pillars of the Myriad Clan Union. And after years of being suppressed and binding his time, the other two pillars have started to crumble, meaning he might be the last man standing.
"The Human Fiendgod Bloodline is the key to our Saint Path," Wang Guo frankly admitted. "I refused to share, and Xiao Wenque will not accept subjugation."
Wang Wei glanced at him. For the first time, it became apparent to him how much the success of the Dao Opening Sect was due to the lasting bond of the Three Ancestors. Wang Wei was also glad that he went above and beyond to form such a bond with Li Jun and Yan Lililing, even doing his best to ensure a bright future for all of them.
"You still haven’t explained why you didn’t kill him alone?"
Wang Guo briefly paused before explaining: "Years ago, during the Second Origin War, Xiao Wenque saved the life of a man called Chen Bao."
"Chen Bao? Isn’t that the real name of the Pure Berserker Saint? The one with the Mad Tyrant Lion Bloodline?" Wang Wei looked at him. He had memorized all the information available about the Primordial Saints participating in this expedition.
"That very same," Wang Guo sighed. Who knew the little Paragon saved back then would have successfully become a Saint after the Ultimate Taboo? The odds of success without even becoming a Primal are astronomically low, but the latter had succeeded. Of course, there is the possibility Chen Bao became a Primal during the taboo, but Wang Guo never heard any such news.
"I know Xiao Wenque: he will definitely leverage that relationship to deal with me. And as long as Chen Bao wishes to repay the karma of saving his life, he will agree."
"And what do you expect me to do?" Wang Wei asked. "He’s a Saint. Even if he’s a weak one, he’s still a Saint."
"Don’t play dumb. Everybody saw what happened to Sovereign Dao Eyes. No one would believe such a coincidence," Wang Guo sneered.
"I will neither confirm nor deny my involvement, but for the sake of this conversation, I was indeed responsible," Wang Wei calmly stated. "What’s in it for me? What are you prepared to exchange for my help?"
"How about the true blood from a Chaos Demon God? I’m talking about the one from their Saint Body," Wang Guo revealed.
"If that’s your bargain, then you will leave here disappointed."
"Why? Don’t tell me such a rare resource does not tempt you?"
"The blood is probably from your Investigation Department," Wang Wei calmly stated. "I’m surprised you guys successfully caught a Chaos Demon God — especially one who has already recondensed their body. But with my relationship with Maitreya, I only need a word to access it."
"Then, you would be disappointed," Wang Guo sneered. "Although we’ve caught a few of them, no one has condensed their true body. That blood can only be extracted by a special method that only I know."
Wang Wei squinted. Wang Guo was probably telling the truth. If there were such a Chaos Demon God, Maitreya would not have risked her life for that drop of blood.
"I’m still not interested."
"Why?"
"Because I will get it sooner or later."
Wang Guo frowned. The latter was right. As long as the Investigation exists and continues its job, it’s only a matter of time before a Chaos Demon God that meets the requirement is captured.
"What do I need to do for your help?"
"I want an accord," Wang Wei uttered. "We will sign an agreement on the unification of the Wang Clan. Whoever first becomes a Saint, the defeated individual will facilitate a peaceful unification of the clan without any fighting or resistance."
