Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1740: The Outlaw Trial Origin

Chapter 1740: The Outlaw Trial Origin

Two creatures stood opposite the Time and Heaven Cardinal. The one on the left was a wraith who embodied everything associated with death, and the other was a ten-meter, purple, muscular mini-giant with a third eye, and whose every muscle fiber resonated with primordial chaos. Physically, none of the cardinals have recognized these two new Tribunal Saints, but something about them felt familiar, so the Time Cardinal instinctively said:

"Why do they feel so familiar?"

The Heaven Cardinal had a similar reaction, but he stopped himself from speaking. Instead, he observed these two newcomers and used his vast knowledge to analyze them.

"What is it? Did you find something?" The Time Cardinal asked after seeing a sudden, drastic change in expression from his companion.

"Do you remember the Ten Thousand Law Lord and why Grand Dao ordered us to kill him?"

That name immediately brought memories deep within the Time Cardinal’s mind. The Ten Thousand Law Lord was a great talent, one of the first people to show the world how truly terrifying the Greater Chaos Dao was. He was the embodiment of the best technique in any situation, against any opponent, and in any Dao.

During the middle Paragon Age, the period after what historians called the Soul Age, following the Ji Clan Ancestor’s failed transcendence, a young talent whose name has been lost to time rapidly rose. In that era, most people believed he would be the world’s third True Transcendent. Sadly, the Ten Thousand Law Lord became the first sacrifice for Grand Dao to establish its prestige.

Had the Ten Thousand Law Lord followed the "rules" and cultivated normally by condensing his Dao Quintessence, his life would have been long and fulfilled. However, he developed an ambition that was beyond his capabilities: he wanted to be Grand Dao. Believing that Grand Dao was the true master of all Daos, the Ten Thousand Law Lord sought to become her.

The result was his death, but to be fair, Grand Dao was lenient toward him. Most of his attempts — including trying to swallow the Grand Constructs to understand their essence — failed, and Grand Dao only lightly punished him. However, the man remained persistent. Then, one day, he learned about the [Generals], the precursors to the Grand Constructs.

The Ten Thousand Law Lord immediately put that information to use. He created a spell that would condense a false [Death General], which he would then use to control the [Six Paths of Samsara]. Such an act was the last straw. Grand Dao foresaw the madness contained in the Ten Thousand Law Lord’s path. First, he would control or swallow the Grand Constructs to understand their essence, then he would try to do the same to her. So, without hesitation, she ordered all the Cardinals to annihilate him.

The Ten Thousand Law Lord’s death had widespread consequences. The Cardinal established its prestige in the new "era". All the Saints knew that there were rules or things they could not do in their pursuit of transcendence. Finally, Grand Dao realized certain [Laws] should not be wielded by everybody. Out of fear, she created the Outlaw and Supreme Outlaw Trials to stop people from cultivating certain laws. She also kept the one who passed under strict watch and often weaved unique fates to them to put their intelligence and wisdom to better use.

’Wait, are you saying these two are created from the Ten Thousand Law Lord’s spell?’ the Time Cardinal asked.

"Not his spell, but something similar," the Heaven Cardinal asked.

"Even so." The worry on his face was palpable.

"No need to worry," the Heaven Cardinal reassured. "While this spell looked similar, it’s nothing like the one the Ten Thousand Law Lord created. Their version seems only to create an artificial version of us, the cardinals."

Time Cardinal felt reassured after hearing this. It’s fine if the Infinite Court is trying to copy the Cardinals. However, things will be complicated if they reach the level of copying or creating the [Dao Generals]. The cat ruler of time doesn’t know exactly what the consequences would be if the Infinite Divine Court succeeded, but one thing is for sure: Grand Dao will not be happy, and once she’s not pleased, the Cardinals will not have a good life.

After calming down, the Time Cardinal focused on the task at hand: "In that case, how about we cut off their connection to their source of power?" After the Ten Thousand Law Lord’s death, Grand Dao tasked them with studying the latter’s [Dao General Spell] and how to deal with them. The Heaven Cardinal was the lead in that project, making him perfect for this task.

"That’s what I’m thinking, but let’s proceed with the plan first." Now that the anomalies had been identified, the Heaven Cardinal had no more worries, meaning it was time to continue with the established plan.

"Alright." A voice penetrated all the cultivators’ minds, ordering them to enter the node worlds. The void portals were still open, and upon hearing this command, all Group A members rushed over. The False Cardinals created from the Cardinal Protocol Spell would not allow the enemy to do as they please. Their instruction was to stop whatever these people were doing.

The clash between these two groups caused some trouble. Many of the portals were forcefully closed or altered. The small shockwave that the True Cardinals could not stop sent some Group A members to the wrong portal. However, the outcome was still the invasion of the Primordial Race into the core nodes of this formation.

...

Emperor Kong has been waiting for the order while thinking about Wang Wei’s speech. As someone who has experienced the Infinite Divine Court’s Exchange Tower, he knew better than anyone how competitive the future would be once the court had established itself and fully built that tower. Ever since that experience, Emperor Kong’s urge to sanctify as soon as possible had drastically increased, and Wang Wei’s words just added even more fuel to that desire.

"Hmm? As expected, things will not go smoothly," Emperor Kong thought as he saw the two new Tribunal Lords appearing. ’But where did the court get them? Are they puppets?’ This timeline should still be blocked, and since the court was known for its brilliant puppet-making abilities, Emperor Kong deduced as much. Unfortunately, there is very little information to work with.

’There is no point in thinking about these Lords,’ Emperor Kong talked to himself. The difference between the [Immortal] and [Saint] stage of cultivation is too vast. Trying to deal with or even deduce information about them is a challenge in itself because an [Immortal] simply cannot fathom how powerful these beings are.

’I need to worry about my affairs,’ Kong thought before sensing someone not far away from him. After a few calculations and preparations, he waited for his opportunity. Then, as he predicted, their superior ordered them to execute their mission; the enemy disagreed, and a brief competition ensued.

’Hehe, did you think I would give you a chance?’ Kong sneered to himself. As he rushed into his portal, he took advantage of the chaos to yank someone into the same portal as him.

"Kong!" the Glass Pen Sage roared. He tried everything to resist, but it was too late. The two entered the same portal and were immediately separated by a potent chaotic spatial vortex.

Boom!

Emperor Kong’s body landed near a mountain range, annihilating 80% of them. "Damn it, I can’t believe I’m this unlucky," he complained. A tiny portion of Saint Power entered his portal and hit him, instantly injuring his [Existence]. Kong immediately swallowed a few pills to stabilize himself before looking at his surroundings. He moved his fingers for a quick divination, and a smile crept on his face: Glass Pen Sage was in this world.

"Excellent," he smiled. The board has been set, and the only thing left is to finish the match and reap the reward. "No matter what complaints I have about Wang Wei, I must agree he is a reliable ally," Kong muttered. He was once a step closer to taking what was rightfully his. Then, as long as he sanctifies and takes one of the [Seven Positions], the Literary Way will regain its status as one of the Three Main Religions or School of Thoughts — well, at least in the Eternal Ascension World.

Although it may be a first step in a long journey, it is a significant one. Kong is not too sure of the situation of the Literary Way throughout the Chaos Universe, but as long as he can establish himself in the [Destiny Center World], it will only be a matter of time before he can revitalize the Literary Way, if that is required.

’Hmm? What is this feeling?’ Kong’s joy did not last long as a sense of upcoming doom loomed over his mind and soul. He raised his head since the source seemed to be the sky, but that only exacerbated his feelings. Knowing danger was on the horizon, he swiftly analyzed the situation and devised a solution.
