Chapter 1850: Multiple Preparations
"What do you think?" the Erudite Duchess calmly asked.
"You probably did, but you were all blinded by greed, willing to take any risk for that small opportunity for ascension," Wang Wei stated. "More importantly, your mindset was probably that you could outwit whoever was setting up things from behind the scenes."
"Greed and hubris are terrible poisons," The duchess sighed.
"Tre," Wang Wei nodded. "What do you think the Grand Dao Saints were planning?"
"I have no idea," she shook her head. Since the ultimate taboo, many people have deduced the cause and effect of that event, and sadly, no answers have been found. There are a few hypotheses, but nothing definitive.
"Do you think they succeeded?"
"No clue." Grand Dao Saints are the most elusive of all the Saints. Besides a few, such as Bi Jinshi, most of the others rarely showed themselves to weaker beings.
"I see."
"Now, it’s my turn," the duchess uttered before looking him in the eyes. "How did you learn of the Abomination’s true name to summon him?" Summoning a higher being required using their true name or true title. However, Grand Dao has done a great job at eliminating all information about the taboo.
"When I was in the lower dimension, there was a forbidden zone with one of its followers. When I tried to eradicate it, the thing actually tried to use my body as a vessel. The process of eliminating them is how I learn a lot about that taboo," Wang Wei explained.
"Is that so?" The duchess couldn’t detect anything from his expression, but her intuition told her Wang Wei wasn’t telling the truth — at least, he wasn’t telling the entire truth.
"By any chance, you wouldn’t happen to still remember its name?" she asked with squinted eyes.
Wang Wei shook his head, "Just like you, the Source Qi Cardinal purified all information from my mind, which is a great shame since the summoning ritual was a great deterrent."
"I agree with Grand Dao’s decision. Such knowledge is too dangerous to exist in the world," the Erudite Duchess uttered. Wang Wei glanced at her, but did not say anything else. The two chatted for a few more minutes before Wang Wei left.
The duchess watched his departing back, "What a terrifying destiny." Based on the little information she knows about Wang Wei, it’s not hard to deduce that his destiny was too powerful. Everywhere he goes, events with worldwide ramifications occur. And more importantly, he always seems to encounter taboos and forbidden entities. The fact that he has survived for so long is either a miracle or a sign of how terrifying he is as an individual.
"Should I stay away from him after the expedition?" The Erudite Duchess thought. Another aspect of Wang Wei’s destiny that she recognized was its ability to affect everybody else, turning them into celestial bodies that orbit around him. It doesn’t matter who the individual is. As long as they stay long enough with Wang Wei, he will somehow become the center of their universe.
"But there are so many benefits," she thought. This was their first interaction, and he has already opened the way to the third step. Maybe in the next encounter, she can truly become a Grand Dao Saint.
"Forget it. I don’t want to think about it," the duchess thought. The longer she thinks about it, the more tempted she becomes. Instead of allowing the devil to lure her into his embrace, she decided to focus on the task at hand.
...
Wang Wei returned to his headquarters and immediately said, "Ai, synchronize memory from the meeting."
"Synchronization began: 1%...5%...68%...100%." In less than a second, the process ended.
"What do you think?" Wang Wei asked.
"About what? You need to be more specific."
"Their plan."
"Too much reliance on luck, and I’m questioning the validity of Trinity Venerable’s claim of regaining control of Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array."
"I have similar doubts," Wang Wei nodded. "Can you keep an eye on his actions?"
Ai shook her head, "You’re going to use my powers, correct?"
"That’s right."
"Then, I can’t do much. I must use most of my computing powers to aid you. So, unless you’re willing to slow down your own plan, I cannot secretly keep eyes on a Tribunal Lord."
Wang Wei frowned, "In that case, I need to change some of my plans." With a flicker of his wrist, he sent a communication talisman to the distance. A few minutes later, a handsome middle-aged man in a scholar’s robe, pale and with a weak aura, walked into the room.
"Still injured?" Wang Wei asked.
"My luck backlash was too terrifying," Emperor Kong sighed. First, he was hunting for most of his time in the Chaos Origin Realm. His disciple then disappeared, and he was finally forcibly purified.
"That’s how it is being the Destiny Chosen One," Wang Wei calmly stated.
Emperor Kong shook his head, not wanting to talk about this subject with him. "Why did you call me here?"
"You saw how the situation has changed. I need you to stay around in my quarters for your safety."
"Safety? I’m not following you."
"You only need to know that the enemy, Death Reverence, is terrifying, and the last thing we want is for him to get his hands on your destiny. So, for your safety, you must remain closed to the Tribunal Lords and me."
Emperor Kong frowned, feeling something was wrong. Unfortunately, he couldn’t tell exactly, "That’s fine, I guess. But can I take Xu Shi with me?" No matter the situation, being close to Wang Wei is either the most dangerous or the safest place to be. Under normal circumstances, Kong would weigh the danger and even do countless calculations and analyses before making a decision, but in his injured state, he had no choice. He needed to rely on someone, and Wang Wei was the best choice.
"No problem," Wang Wei agreed. Now that Kong reminded him, he also contacted Maitreya to stay nearby.
"Master, what do you plan to do with Kong?" Ai asked after the Enlightened Emperor Academy headmaster left to retrieve his disciple.
"The original plan I created required using Kong’s destiny to deal a significant blow to the Infinite Divine Court. But now, if used correctly, it may be a way to save us."
"Do you need me to do anything?"
"Yes. Since I can no longer rely on the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, I need you to prepare another formation to replace it."
"What is this mission’s priority?"
Wang Wei did not immediately answer. "We need to prepare for the worst-case scenario. But what is that?"
"If Death Reverence’s purpose is to turn you into a vessel, then he must eventually regain control of our part of the array," Ai responded. "If that’s not possible, he must force a breakthrough. By then, you will have to face him and his future self."
"Calculate the possibility of summoning my future self to face off against Death Reverence’s future self?"
"Calculating...Result: 2.37%."
"Reason?" Wang Wei asked calmly.
"The enemy’s future possibility is dominating this timeline, blocking the past and future. There is also a high chance that the enemy has stolen control over the blockade of Timeline NP89076H."
Wang Wei groaned softly. If Death Reverence is the one blocking this timeline instead of Grand Dao, then the situation is even more dangerous than he had previously thought.
"Here is the plan," Wang Wei stated after thinking about the situation for a bit. He directly transferred his idea into her data core. "Is this feasible?"
"Yes, but you would need at least half of all the second step materials that you brought."
"That still leaves a lot," Wang Wei replied. He had taken a lot of materials from the Heaven Splitting Holy Land, and losing half of the second-step material was worth it for his safety. In fact, he would not mind sacrificing everything if it meant staying alive.
"Very well. Then, what about Kong?"
"He’s Plan D," Wang Wei replied. Plan A is the Trinity Venerable and the Tribunal Lords’ actions. Although he had no hope for their success, he wanted them to be a good distraction. Plan B is the Erudite Duchess, but Wang Wei is not the kind of person who puts all his eggs in one basket, nor was he the kind who allows his safety to be decided by someone else.
Plan C is the one that he just directed Ai to establish. It is what Wang Wei will truly rely on to survive this upcoming tribulation. As for Kong? He is a last resort in case everything else fails. If — and that’s a big if — Kong’s plan is activated, Death Reverence will not survive, but there is also no guarantee that Wang Wei and the others might also survive.
"Master, should I remind you of Sovereign Dao Eyes?"
"A good reminder," Wang Wei stated. He immediately took out a Saint Pill and had one of his clones head out to make a deal with someone.
