Chapter 1853: Failed Test
The Karma Root Monarch frowned. Of all the people here, she was the one who understood best how Mingyunjun died. After that attack from the abomination, the Fate Chaos Demon God did not immediately die. Instead, he faked his death to escape. She had detected subtle traces of his karmic existence remaining in the world, which is impossible for someone who had supposedly died. However, less than an hour later, those traces dissipated.
"I thought he had died from his severe injuries, but now, it appeared someone else had gotten to him," the Karma Root Monarch thought. If there were someone else who could detect Mingyunjun’s deception, it would be another cultivator of Fate Dao. So, after Wang Wei uttered these words, she was able to put two and two together.
"No wonder Grand Dao wanted to wipe our entire mind," Slaughter Ancestor analyzed. He finally understood why the Grand Dao used such an extreme means that offended everybody. Someone had already weaponized the abomination, which was unacceptable to her.
"I wonder why this kid is still alive?" he thought. Logically speaking, Wang Wei’s actions were taboo, and the Grand Dao should have severely punished him. But he looks perfectly fine, even bold enough to threaten a second-step powerhouse. Sighing to himself, the Slaughter Ancestor did not focus too much on this thought. Instead, something else made him excited:
"If I could use such a strange method to eliminate my enemy and slaughter an entire timeline, how much would my Slaughter Quintessence improve?" The Slaughter Ancestor almost could not resist smiling just thinking about using such a method. Before this, he had already run out of unique ways to kill/slaughter his enemy, and Wang Wei had presented one to him.
Unfortunately, just as he was about to lose control of his joy, he remembered something, and his excitement calmed down. Grand Dao had probably already wiped out the minds of everybody who knew enough information about the abomination as a preventive measure.
"I should keep an eye out for such information," the Slaughter Ancestor thought to himself.
Except for the duchess, all the Tribunal Lords were shocked by Wang Wei’s words — although their expressions did not show it. The mystery surrounding the Origin Chaos Realm was finally revealed to them: a story about the burning revenge of a brilliant mind who sought to avenge the wrong done to him, leaving an entire world in desolation in the process. Then, they thought about how this brilliant mind might use his intelligence against them, and a chill ran down their spine. For a moment, all these Tribunal Lords thought about eliminating this threat as soon as possible. Luckily for them, their rational self took over, stopping them from acting foolishly.
"Well then, I’ll be taking my leave. I hope everything goes well for all of you," Wang Wei said. He did not allow them to continue this conversation. Instead, he bowed calmly, showing his respect for these "Saints" before calmly departing from the meeting room.
The room was silent for a few seconds before Karma Root Monarch spoke to the Trinity Venerable, "Why are you acting like this? It’s not like you."
Everybody present knew what kind of person Trinity Venerable was: calm, calculating, and ruthless. He was chosen to conduct one of the most important aspects of the Ultimate Taboo Plan, and he achieved his goal perfectly by manipulating the Qiyuan Trio and countless other beings. Yet today, he seemed to be acting rashly and irrationally.
"I wanted to test out something," Trinity Venerable replied with a sigh. "I wanted to see if I could put his life in danger and draw out his future self to descend into this timeline and solve everything."
"And?"
"All I sense is endless terror — a guaranteed death."
"That should be expected," the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint sneered.
"The thing is," Trinity Venerable continued. "I can’t tell if the danger is from his future self or from his current present self."
His words immediately made the others’ bodies stop involuntarily. In this world, the gap between cultivation realms is so vast that scheming against others usually only happens at lower levels or when cultivations are equal. Yet, there are a few beings whose minds have escaped the limitation of those unwritten rules.
After leaving for so long, all these Tribunal Lords have met such a being at least once. However, the truly horrifying part of the Trinity Venerable’s statement is the fact that he was one of those beings. Yet, when speaking about Wang Wei, he also felt the threat of death. What did that imply? Everybody understood.
"Honestly, I think we should use this opportunity to eliminate him," Trinity Venerable stated, and everybody gave him one of those looks that said: " You want to drive us to our death?"
"Have you realized how much of our interest is against him? Forget what I did to Qiyuan; Slaughter Ancestor still holds the Slaughter Grand Dao Position, meaning Li Jun will soon have to fight his vessel for it. Yan Hai has been preventing Primordial Heaven Sword from using his pawn, Yang Kai, to condense both the Sword and Saber Grand Dao Position.
"As for you, Karma Root? I don’t think I need to say anymore. Even if you don’t have any direct confrontation now, in the future, he will compete with you for Karma-related resources. Currently, he is at his weakest, and we should really take this advantage."
"No need," the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint immediately said. He already felt it was a shame that Yang Kai couldn’t defeat Yan Hai, and he would not further dishonor his Way of the Sword by dealing with Wang Wei — someone who technically had nothing to do with his confrontation against the Sword Empress.
"I’m with Primordial Heaven on this," Karma Root Monarch added. There was no need to form enmity with such a powerful entity simply because they might compete for resources in the future. If she dictated her actions based on that logic, then the Karma Monarch would have to kill all cultivators who cultivate Karma Dao with high enough potential. That would be foolish, and she knew this very well. Numerous Saints or powerful individuals have done something similar, and they usually end up with a miserable fate, usually killed by one of the people they tried to stop from rising.
"If we were to attack, what are the chances of success?" the Slaughter Ancestor asked. Of all the people here, he was the one most worried. Grand Dao has forced them to use vessels or clones at the Paragon tier to hold the Grand Dao Position, which means these Saints faced countless challenges, many of which they have lost. His battle with Li Jun is inevitable, and the Slaughter Ancestor refuses to relinquish the position. By now, cultivators at his level have already theorized about their effects.
"Less than 10%."
"So low?"
"The Duchess is on his side, and he has already taken control of a significant portion of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. Even if we work together, there is enough time for him to respond and run away."
"No wonder he only showed up with an Avatar," the Slaughter Ancestor commented. He then shook his head; the probability of success was too low to justify the risk.
The Trinity Venerable sighed, "Mark my word: all of you will regret today’s decision."
"You are —"
"Are you guys finished with your conversation, or can we continue the meeting?" the Erudite Duchess suddenly said. Her eyes scrutinized everyone; she felt these people were plotting something involving Wang Wei, which is why they cut her off from the conversation.
The focus of the meeting shifted after the duchess’s words. The others communicated with their eyes before focusing on the only man still standing in the room.
"Commander Dan, you saw what happened in the meeting room. Do you have any alternate plans?" Karma Root Monarch stated.
General Three Strikes was trying his best to remain calm. He never thought there was such a power dynamic between the old commander and the Tribunal Lords. For a moment, he felt ridiculous that he was so haughty when Wang Wei invited him to serve as his Vice-Commander. No matter how brilliant he thinks his tactics are, he would never reach the point where he can directly threaten a Tribunal Lord. No, even if he was this gifted, he did not have the guts to do it. Just this simple difference is enough to show the vast difference between the two commanders.
"They won’t kill me for knowing something I shouldn’t, would they?" Powerful cultivators care much about their face, and having witnessed them being humiliated was more than enough of a reason for these Lords to annihilate them.
"Commander Dan!"
"Yes, Lord," General Three Strikes finally uttered.
"We need a new plan."
"No problem. I still have two alternate plans, but their success is not as high as the first one," General Dan replied.
"Well, let us hear them."
