Chapter 2038: Why Is There Such An Element?!

Chapter 2038: Why Is There Such An Element?!

Jonas knew his attack would not be able to stop Grey, but he attacked nevertheless.

Grey, on the other hand, did not flinch. He firmly grabbed the Magical Beast’s Core and felt a jolt of lightning running down his body. Even just from holding it, he could sense a shocking power resting inside the core.

’If this thing detonates, the consequences would be dire.’ He thought to himself before his body sank into the ground.

Jonas’s attack missed Grey by a hair’s breadth, crashing into the bones.

Grey reemerged from the ground, looking at the opening into this open space, he saw the chasing beastpeople already arriving. Signaling Klaus, Alice, and Reynolds, his figure plunged straight into the wall. Being an Earth Elementalist, he could easily create an opening from the underground cave to the surface.

His friends were the first to react, rushing after him with the small tunnel he opened. The tunnel was large enough to fit just one person at a time. It was unknown if Grey did this on purpose or not, but the size of the tunnel made it impossible for anyone to chase after him.

Before he left, he sent a voice transmission to Silvan, telling him they would meet at the same cave they stopped at earlier while they were recuperating.

Silvan knew of Grey’s capabilities and was confident he would be able to easily escape from the pursuit of anyone here. He had heard of how some Peak Sovereigns tried to assassinate the latter and how he was able to survive.

With his mind at peace knowing he was the victor in this conquest, he did not continue his battle with Arthur as he rushed towards the tunnel.

Grey’s example prompted the other Earth Elementalists among those present to follow his lead, so in a few seconds, multiple tunnels appeared as they all rushed through them.

The four Peak Sovereign beastmen all went after Grey; after all, he was the one who took the treasure away.

On the surface.

Grey’s figure shot out from the small opening and he bolted in a particular direction. Klaus and the other two went in another direction. They did not need to have any prior discussions before their actions. They all knew Grey was currently the target of pursuit from not just the beastpeople, but Arthur as well, and if they stayed by his side, they would only hold him back.

A second or two after Grey appeared, the four Peak Sovereigns appeared and gave chase. There was also Arthur who chased after him, not caring about others. Although Arthur found it odd that Silvan did not try to come after them, he did not think much about it.

Thirty minutes later.

In a forest, Arthur could be seen standing with a dark expression. In front of him were the four Peak Sovereigns who all had ferocious expressions. They all lost Grey. It had only been a few minutes, but Grey seemingly disappeared right before their eyes, and they could not track him no matter how they tried.

Arthur did not know who Grey was, as even though Grey is already pretty famous in the Aurora Continent, he rarely shows his face, which is why very few people knew him.

’Who is this freak?’ Arthur felt like ripping off his hair.

If Silvan had been the one to take the Core, he would not feel this annoyed. The duo had been competing for years now and occasionally they each gained the advantage over the other. But the fact that a random person succeeded to not only escape from him, but also from four Peak Sovereigns, he realized just how much of a monster this person was. Now he understood why Silvan did not bother to chase after it, it was because he was confident in this person’s ability to escape.

’Those two know him, I should ask them who he is.’ Arthur did not dare to stay here for long, after understanding he could not track this stranger, he could only give up and try to investigate who the stranger was and make him pay. Also, given the current expressions of the four Peak Sovereigns from the beastpeople clan, he knew they might tear him apart if he stayed any longer.

Almost an hour later.

Arthur caught up with his group, noticing a few missing people, his expression was even darker. As if losing the core was not enough, three of his helpers died in the process. Their sacrifices all for naught thanks to that freak. He concluded that after leaving this place, he would go to any length to capture this strange and make him go through the world’s most brutal torture.

Walking over to Jonas and the other young lady who seemed to exchange greetings with the stranger before they entered this small world, he asked with a frosty voice, "Who is that guy?"

Jonas and the young lady knew who he was asking about, and during the past few years, the duo have come to know that Grey was the son of the extremely powerful Lucas Dawson. Other than that, Grey, himself, is regarded as a prodigy that is far above his father in terms of potential.

"Have you heard of Grey Dawson?" The young lady did not answer Arthur’s question, but asked one of her own.

"The son of Lucas Dawson who is said to be even more talented than his father?" Arthur asked, before scoffing, "I doubt anyone can be more talented than Lucas Dawson though."

It was not that he was trying to glaze Lucas Dawson, but his father had first hand experience about the genius of this man and spoke to great lengths about him. His father was a well-known egoistical person, yet for some reason, he had nothing but praise when Lucas Dawson’s name was brought up. This alone proved just what sort of genius Lucas was, so how could there be someone even better not even after a hundred years?

At the thought of the question, his eyes widened and he asked, "He’s that Grey Dawson the Gnomes wants dead?"

"Yes, the one and only." Jonas nodded.

To be honest, when he found out about Grey’s identity, he was left speechless for a long time. They were both born and raised in Red City during their early years, so finding out that Grey’s parents were top experts from the Aurora Continent, and were even from some of the top families left him dumbfounded as he could not comprehend what they were doing in a small place like Red City.

"How did that bastard manage to get his help?" Arthur knew very well just how talented Grey Dawson was. Although he still felt Grey was not as talented as his father, he heard how Grey was not only a Multi-Elementalist, but also having the extremely rare space element which is said to be the ultimate escape element. A Space Elementalist is unrivaled in terms of escape, and after experiencing this about an hour ago, he did not doubt it.

’Why is there even such an element? What’s the point of there being such a stupid element?!’ He cursed internally.

With Grey’s background, how could he dare to think of having revenge. Even his father would not want to offend Lucas Dawson. His anger was soon directed at how absurd the space element was, and how Silvan cheated.

Thinking about his smug look when he saw Silvan’s small group outside the portal, he could not help but think of how foolish he must have looked in Silvan’s eyes. If he were the one with someone like Grey, he would not even spare his opposition a glance even if they had three times his group’s number.

Jonas and the young lady knew Arthur was on the verge of crashing out, and they could not blame him. The reason they came here was the Beast’s Core, and even though there were other treasures lurking around, none was as important as the Half God Plane Magical Beast’s Core.

Feeling vexed, Arthur told the survivors to rest before they set out once again. They could stay here for a while, so since that was the case, he wanted to see if they could be lucky to find another Half God Plane Magical Beast’s Core. The first group who came into this place for an expedition managed to find this core, and there was still a large piece of unexplored land.

While Arthur was on the verge of crashing out due to Grey escaping, Grey was currently seated on a tree top, looking down at the fighting Magical Beasts below. The two Beasts were equal in strength, having opposing elements; the fire and water element.

In Magical Beasts, those with the water element are unable to make use of the ice ability unlike their human counterparts who could use both.

The battle between both Beasts was intense, and since Grey had nothing to do, he watched with interest. Only after ascertaining there was no way a winner could emerge did he eventually leave after almost two hours.
