Chapter 2078: A Big Mistake

Chapter 2078: A Big Mistake

Boom!

A large explosion erupted in the sky and two figures were sent flying in different directions.

Grey slammed into a tree, shattering it before quickly getting his footing.

The emissary slammed into the ground, and unlike Grey, he drilled into the ground.

Grey, who just managed to keep himself from crashing into the ground, felt a slender hand on his ankles. When he looked down, he saw the emissary smiling at him before dragging him to the ground.

Grey was an earth Elementalist along with all his other elements, there was no way he would allow the emissary drag him to the ground. He used the earth element to tighten the opening the emissary popped out of, seemingly trying to stop him there.

The emissary already knew of Grey’s affinity with the earth element, so he did not expect him to fall for this. With no choice, he let go of Grey’s ankles, and his body shrank more than its usual size and he vanished into the ground.

Grey did not try to go after him as he knew given the size of the emissary, it would be hard for him to fight him underground. Closing his eyes, his powerful mental sense spread out, covering hundreds of meters in a matter of seconds as he tried to locate the emissary.

He caught the aura of the emissary around three hundred meters away and quickly attacked the spot he sensed him.

Bang!

A large crater appeared on the ground from the strike, but he did not catch a sight of the emissary. He turned around and attacked another location four hundred meters to the east.

The result was the same, a large crater appearing but no Gnome.

Grey once again sensed the emissary’s aura some distance to the west from where he was standing, but just as he was about to attack again, he sensed it almost immediately some meters to the south, and then the north, and the east.

If he knew no better, he would have thought there were four emissaries right now and not one.

’How’s he able to do this?’ Grey was once again intrigued by the technique of the emissary. The emissary not only had amazing abilities when it came to physical prowess, but he could also trick one’s mental sense which was a valuable asset in a battle. Especially one that involved people of their level.

Calming his mind, he focused on all four auras, trying to distinguish which one was real.

All four auras flared out at the same time, and Grey sensed four attacks coming at him from four different directions.

Clapping both hands together, an ice sphere spread out with him in the middle. After the sphere was about three meters in radius, Grey stopped expanding it and started enforcing it to become thicker.

Just outside the ice sphere, if one looked closely they would see faint dots of brownish dust. Grey was using not just the ice sphere, but also making use of his gravitational force field to slow down speed of the attacks to help reduce the impact it would have on the ice sphere.

Bam! Crack!

A thin thumb-sized hole appeared on the eastern part of the ice sphere, accompanied by a bright light that shot at Grey’s temple.

Grey sensed when the attack broke past his ice sphere, but due to the speed, there was no way to dodge it. His survival instincts kicked in as he hurriedly moved his hands in front of him to stop the attack from reaching his temple while he twisted his body as fast as he could to the side.

Light blue scales appeared on Grey’s hands as the lightning attack struck it.

Grey felt the impact cracking his bones which sent unimaginable pains straight to his head. He became lightheaded for only a split second, before his eyes locked onto the east. That was where the attack came from. Wasting no time, a large hidden inscription suddenly appeared in the sky and rained a sea of fire arrows at the location.

"Damn it! How did he react so fast?" The exasperated voice of the emissary came from the place Grey’s fire arrows crashed into, and a small shadow was seen rushing out of the ground, escaping from the range of the attack.

The emissary stopped around eight hundred meters from Grey and paused, his appearance no longer as elegant as when he first came here. Even his gaze was different from before. When he started to fight with Grey, he was fully confident he could kill this young man. However, now he was no longer certain about that. Although he was still confident he would win the fight, he did not believe he could keep Grey here even if he wanted to.

Grey repeatedly clenched his hands into a fist and released it to sense the extent of the damage. He could perceive his charred skin which was burnt by the lightning attack. Gnomes with the lightning element were very rare, almost impossible to find. One with this great of a mastery over the lightning element was unheard of.

The duo exchanged glances for only a second before they charged at each other once again.

Grey wanted to see the full extent of his current abilities, while the emissary felt although low, there were still some chances of him killing Grey here.

On Void’s side, the puppet was already losing an arm after only a few minutes of fighting. Losing one arm did not reduce the ferocity of the puppet, rather, it made it attack even more fiercely. Unfortunately, its opponent was Void, a master of the space element. There were a few times the puppet tried to trade blow for blow, but Void ensured he always dodged the puppet’s attacks at the last second.

The three Ninth stage Sovereign bunnies fully suppressed Natt and the other two Gnomes along with the puppet with them. The Gnomes were already injured from the initial attacks from Grey when they were trying to escape, so facing the bunnies’ strong attacks, there was barely anything they could do.

A few more minutes of intense fighting went on before Void and the bunny leader incapacitated their opponents. They destroyed all three Gnomes’ cores to avoid another incident like what just happened.

Natt and the other Gnomes like their world fell apart after this as their eyes lost all the light. Even if they managed to escape from this place with their lives, they would be useless. How could they continue living without their cultivation?

Void and the bunny leader were unbothered by the looks in the eyes of the Gnomes. If not for waiting for Grey’s order, they would have killed them by now.

They both looked in the direction of Grey’s fight, feeling the shocking impact of the clash between Grey and the emissary.

"He’s still lacking." The bunny leader commented.

Void nodded and added, "It’ll most likely take everything from him if he wants to kill that guy."

"Correct. He needs to further consolidate his realm before he can have any hopes of defeating a Peak Sovereign and still have any fighting strength left." The bunny leader accessed as he observed the fight from a distance. None of them made any effort to aid Grey as they knew he did not need it.

Even if Grey could not kill the emissary, he would not be killed by the latter either, so his life was in no immediate danger.

The duo waited patiently for the fight to end as it was reaching its climax.

On the battlefield, Grey and the emissary were both covered in blood, their own as well as that of the opponent. Injuries of different sizes could be seen on Grey’s body, and even the smell of burned flesh wafted across the battlefield.

Boom! Bam!

Grey and the emissary clashed, both retreating a few hundred meters before stopping mid-air.

’I can’t afford to waste anymore time, this is their territory after all.’ The emissary thought to himself, taking a long hard look at Grey’s face, he said, "The next attack will determine the winner."

Giving Grey no chance to speak, he clasped both palms together and slowly started to open his palms. In the middle, a small spark appeared. The spark was only the size of a grain, before it quickly started to enlarge.

’A single attack to determine the winner. That’s a mistake, a big mistake.’ Grey could not believe his luck.

He was already thinking of sustaining a serious injury just to make sure he could create a chance for himself to use his strongest attack as that was the only way he knew he could defeat the emissary. Never in his wildest dreams did he think the emissary would actually give him the time he needed on his own accord.

The emissary was the first to start preparing his attack, not wanting to be left behind, Grey also prepared his attack, a four colored fusion orb took shape, as signs of a fifth color started to appear.
