Chapter 2085: Out Of Seclusion

A few days went by with Grey still in seclusion. Only after he was confident he was not too far off from his peak strength did he exit seclusion.

When he came out, he was met with Cory who was walking past. Hearing the sound of his room door opening, Cory turned to look at him before flashing him a bright smile as she skipped towards him.

"I heard you got injured, are you fine now?" She asked, concern evident in her voice.

Grey stretched both his arms and nodded, "I’m fine. What are you doing here?"

"Uncle Chris wants to take Eisendrache to train with a dragon in True Dawn, I want to ask dad if it’ll be fine if I go with them." Cory explained softly.

"Oh, Teacher is here?" Grey looked in the direction Cory was coming from, and sure enough, he sensed his Teacher’s aura from that area. Gently patting Cory’s head he said, "I think dad won’t have any problems with letting you leave. I’ll go speak with Teacher, you should inform dad first."

Grey watched Cory nod and leave before he turned and headed in the direction his Teacher’s aura came from.

Chris was alone in a courtyard with Brown, his Griffin, as well as Eisendrache, the young dragon Grey saved some years back.

Chris sensed Grey when he was not too far away, turning around he asked, "You’re out of seclusion, are you fully healed?"

"More or less." Grey replied as he calmly stroked the feathers of Brown. He could still remember the very first time he saw Brown when his Teacher wanted to take him to Lunar Academy all those years ago. It had been so long, yet it felt like it was just a few days ago.

"Lucas said you killed an emissary, it seems you’ve already surpassed your Teacher." Chris said with a proud smile.

"I was lucky. You know they can’t use their puppets against me, which greatly reduces their general strength." Grey did not think defeating the emissary was anything worth celebrating too much. If anything, it showed him he needed to grow even stronger. One has to know that a human Peak Sovereign is generally stronger than a Gnome Peak Sovereign, the only reason the Gnomes usually gain the advantage was with their puppets. However, against Grey, these very puppets become the Gnomes’ biggest weakness.

A Gnome who could not use their puppets are not considered fighting at full strength. Regardless, this does not take away the fact that the emissary Grey fought was unlike any normal Gnome and his strength was not too far from that of a regular human Peak Sovereign.

Chris shook his head and said, "It isn’t luck if you defeat the emissary on your own." Looking at Grey he continued, "You should be aware that Half God Plane Elementalists are forbidden from making a move in the war, which means Peak Sovereigns are the strongest force as it stands. Do you understand how impressive it is to be able to kill one now?"

Grey was aware of the pact agreed on by both parties which forbade the Half God Plane Elementalists from making a move. He still wanted to speak with his Teacher said...

"Just accept the praise kid and stop trying to be humble. Besides, there are more important things for us to do than argue about how impressive your feat of killing the emissary is." Chris waved his hand in a dismissive manner.

Grey awkwardly scratched his head before asking with a serious expression, "What’s the important thing we have to do?"

Chris smiled cheekily, which gave Grey an odd feeling, "My dear student, you know your Teacher has been fighting nonstop in the battlefield and I’ve lost a lot of energy. I brought good meat, you just have to cook it so I can recover some energy. You also need energy as well."

Grey almost burst out laughing when he heard his Teacher, he could not believe what his Teacher said to be more important than killing a Peak Sovereign was him cooking a meal. Wasting no time, he set up a fire right in the garden and immediately started seasoning the meat which had been prepared beforehand by his Teacher.

While he was in the process of cooking the meat, Cory returned along with his father. Seeing Grey focused on cooking, the duo walked over to meet up with Chris who was almost drooling. Lucas spoke with him regarding the issue of Cory leaving with him. His wife adored the little girl, and since Grey was barely home, she spent most of her time with Cory. Luckily, his wife was away training Klaus for some time, so at least until she returned, Cory could be with Chris and Eisendrache in True Dawn.

After almost an hour, Grey was finally done with the dish. It was a simple soup with part of the meat cut into small pieces inside, while there was another part of well cooked meat on skewers that dripped with oil, making one salivate. As simple as the meal, it looked tantalizing, and the aroma was out of the world.

Void and the bunny leader suddenly appeared when Grey was done cooking, but staring at the pot with shiny eyes.

Grey was already used to doing this, bringing out sets of plates, he served everyone present, including his father, who for some reason refused to leave even when he finished discussing with his Teacher more than thirty minutes ago.

Everyone dug into their food almost immediately it was served. Eisendrache and Brown were not excluded from the feast. The four humans and four magical beasts all ate in delight as they laughed and joked about their encounters.

Time flew by and it was time for Chris to leave together with Cory and Eisendrache.

Lucas was standing with them in the courtyard, along with Grey. He looked at Grey and asked, "Can you fight now?"

Grey nodded, "Yes."

"Good, you’ll go with them." Lucas brought out a map and pointed to a particular spot, "After escorting them to True Dawn, head here to provide assistance for the troops."

Grey studied the place and realized it was quite some distance away from True Dawn. Nonetheless, he knew his father only wanted to ensure Cory and his Teacher got to True Dawn safely, and given his current strength, as well as his expertise in the space element, he was one of the best candidates to provide such safety. Besides, he also had Void and the bunny leader by his side, so he did not have anything to worry about.

While cooking, he found out the current situation with his friends. Klaus was training with his mother, while Reynolds was sent out to assist a general on one of the multiple battlefields. Alice went to Aurora Continent to report to her Faction, taking the opportunity to meet with her lover whom she had not seen for some time now.

The group left when they were prepared. Grey rode on Eisendrache with Cory, and his Teacher rode on Brown.

The journey would take around a day or so, and since Cory wanted to see more of the world, they refrained from using any teleportation arrays. This was one of the reasons Lucas sent Grey with them.

Later that day.

The group were flying above a town that was filled with humans when Grey suddenly motioned for Eisendrache to stop.

Chris stopped and flew closer to them, "What’s wrong, kid?"

Grey closed his eyes for some seconds and opened them, "I just sensed spatial fluctuations coming from somewhere in this town. There are no teleportation arrays here, and most of the Space Elementalists are in the Aurora Continent."

"Let’s check it out to be safe." Chris suggested.

Grey nodded, he had the same thought, hence the reason he stopped when he noticed it.

They concealed their auras and flew down, landing on the outskirts of the town, ensuring they did not draw any attention to themselves. Using old clothes to cover themselves, they easily blended into the town. As they walked through the town, Cory saw the condition of how most cities and towns were. She had been staying in Red City since they arrived here, so she had no knowledge of how detrimental the war had been to the regular people. Now that she got the chance to enter a small town like this one, she felt pain in her heart and recalled the life she used to live in her small world before she was rescued by Grey.

She was no longer the little girl she was when Grey first met her, she understood a lot about life now and knew that she too also needed to grow strong if she wanted to ensure she does not lose her loved ones again. Staring at Grey’s back who was ahead of her, she thought about how he was rarely home, traveling from one place to another. Now he had grown to be one of the strongest experts in the world at such a young age, yet he was still training harder than most.
